  1. Better not be sellers next year. Be really nice if they weren't, but I think it is the more likely scenario at this point. I don't see a lot out there that would put this team on the same level as STL/CIN, and now even PIT. Not a great FA class this year. Talent in the minors not quite ready. What would you do?
  2. Hollandsworth comped Lake to both Puig and Vlad Guerrero in a span of 30 seconds...
  3. No, not even a little. Wood, Feldman, Maholm, Villanueva and Gregg HAVE to give you faith they can find under the radar, cheap yet effective pitching options. Volstad, Baker, Fujikawa, Camp and Corpas have told me they are pretty capable of whiffing, too. As said countless times prior, I don't really think Volstad is a fair comparison. That was a junk for junk deal. Baker hasn't pitched an inning, so in theory that can be looked at as a failure. Signing guys off of TJ is always a gamble. Lets see what happens when he comes back. Camp was really good last year. It obviously has not carried over. Corpas?? Really? What a tremendous failure and setback that signing was. I'm with you, these guys are human, not some super engineered executives. I think you are going a bit out of your way to be negative on some of these examples though.
  4. Houston is cornering the market on "undersized" second basemen. This has been crazy, obviously going to be a while before all this can be judged.
  5. Not used to a Cubs trade being reported and seemingly going through immediately. A half a season of Scott Feldman was never going to bring back anything great. I am sure the FO took the best offer available to them. No team is going to give up anything special for 80 innings of Feldman.
  6. I have coached against this kid, good player. Have no idea whether or not he is looking to sign, or go to school though. Obviously a bit raw, but the tools are there. Definitely a kid that goes to school and potentially turns into an early round pick in a few years. *Edit* Looks like he will go to UK*
  7. No need to be scared. Sheehey's return to Mackey should be good TV. Are they keeping the "Defense Lives Here" banner up in front of the Paint Crew next year? Seriously though, I don't see the need for a non conference IU/PU game. Evan Gordon to IU for a year. Will add some experience to backcourt, but that is probably about it.
  8. Wait...I thought kids only transferred from IU?
  9. Man you picked against IU? That sucks. Well. . . when another team punched this team in the mouth, they puckered. And they slumped at the end of the season (right after the game I started fully believing in them!). Plus, well, the bench is incapable of adjusting when things aren't going well. None of that is a great recipe for success n the tournament. I'm sure there was some subconscious reverse-jinxing at work; my secondary bracket did have them in the Final Four. I've pretty much said all this all year long--to the point other IU fans accused me of hating/not enjoying this team. But, of course, on the flip-side, any positive statement about IU or its players is met with the eye-rolling"typical IU fan bias" nonsense. Sounds like my bracket. I picked Duke. The Syracuse matchup worried me too. Hulls/Ferrell backcourt can't hang with those guys. Hulls forgot how to shoot in March, and when he did, he became a huge liability.
  10. Call Crean creepy all you want, but Groce has claimed the "spaz" crown. My god.
  11. Yeah, I was at that Regional too and enjoyed seeing MSU take down Louisville. It is possible I may still go, but have already had a lot of my Louisville friends call about the tickets. Was in a win/win, hopefully see IU in the Regional or sell them. Should be some exciting games to watch at Lucas Oil.
  12. NC State has the talent to give IU a run. One thing in IU's favor is NC State's defense is pretty bad. Not that probably matters much, but they played last year in the big10/ACC challenge. Can't figure out if Syracuse would be a good potential matchup or not. Have looked like crap for much of the last month. I'm all for an Indiana/Illinois Elite 8 matchup Tim! Was initially disappointed IU wasn't placed in Midwest, selfishly because I have tickets. But, I prefer the draw in the East. By no means saying IU will go to the Final 4, but I think they have the easiest path of all the 1 seeds to potentially do so.
  13. Somehow ended up with Duke winning it my first run through for nsbb bracket. Had to pick against Louisville, surrounded by them living here.
  14. Will be interesting to see gameplan by IU tomorrow. Recently, they have really emphasized going to Zeller. There were many times this year where that effort wasn't made consistently. I know Egwu is prone to foul trouble, so I would assume that will be the plan tomorrow.
  15. Has nothing to do with Crean being a victim of any kind. IF (and who really knows) it went down that way, I see why Crean said something. One of the recruiting "experts" on Twitter had a couple tweets about some negative recruiting going on between IU and Michigan as well. he didn't elaborate, so no idea what the details are. Crean is weird, I get it completely, but not a victim.
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTDnJ6zjmcw Anybody caught up with this yet? Meyer was one of Sampson's assistants. Some you Illini fans I remember not being very fond of Meyer during the Gordon saga. Wasn't Meyer the one who played college ball with Gordon's dad? Rumor has it in the handshake line Meyer told Crean to go f-himself. Crean has not been shy about ripping Sampson, his assistant and the kinds of kids they recruited that wrecked IU's program. Meyer and the rest of Sampson's crew aren't fans of his and aren't shy about it. Meyer confronted him in the handshake line, Crean walked away, his assistant Tim Buckley tried to smooth things over and that's when Crean came back and yelled at Meyer.
  17. Been saying for a while now that I can't wait to start playing teams outside the B1G again. This league is brutal. I do like the fact that IU will match up against a team that has beat them. Not that I would expect them to overlook somebody else, but it should be a reminder that they can't coast. I care a lot less about the B1G Tournament now than I did at tipoff of today's game though.
  18. I also have tickets, but have plenty of Louisville friends I could sell them to.
  19. I think Louisville has the potential to steal the Midwest spot. They are probably going to tie for the Big East Championship. I think they are the biggest threat.
  20. Like some of you have already noted, hard to complain about IU this year from a fan's perspective. They have a couple unexpected losses, but pretty much every team has that. Fans though are quick to focus on what is wrong, not what is right. Selfishly I want IU to find its way to the Midwest Regional so I can be there, but its not like I am going to be pissed if they go elsewhere. They have a shot at winning the title, been a while since I've been able to say that. I'm happy. I don't think they will, but they have as good a shot as about anyone to do it. The Michigan will be interesting to see. Had IU won Tuesday, I wouldn't have cared too much about this one. The game has certainly taken on some more meaning though. The only thing that has really changed for IU is that if they do lose, they go to the BTT with some pressure to do well. Whereas if they were the sole B1G champs, it probably would not have meant as much if they were to lose in the semi's.
  21. You won't get an argument from me on that, he is definitely a bit odd.
  22. What was up with the excessive floor slapping by MSU last night? Did anyone else notice that?
  23. What a game. Watford with a hell of a play at the end to bring them back to a one point deficit. Hate to sound like Vitale, but when Watford plays like that IU is great. Suck it Nix.
  24. IU hasn't beaten MSU in East Lansing since Calbert Cheaney was a sophomore. Let that sink in for a minute. George H.W. Bush was President... I can't get very optimistic for this one. A win would be huge, but I'm not feeling it tonight.
