Cubs need a CF

There has been a lot of discussion about players like Fukudome, Bradley, Church, and Hamilton. All of these players could play RF and fill in at CF if needed. Also, a player like Fukudome could play CF against a tough lefty with Murton in RF and then go back to RF when facing a right-handed pitcher and let Pie play CF. Hamilton and Bradley I think would both fall into the slight risk category, both injuries and other reasons. Church would be interesting, he's been a favorite around here for a while. I'm not completely sold on him but he's better than anything else the Cubs have right now. -

They need someone else out there, which is why I don't think the Jones trade was an especially smart move. I hope Pie turns out to be the guy, but I can't say I am all that confident. The jump from AAA to the Majors is a big one. I hope he can make the necessary adjustments. His Domincan numbers are ugly at this point. But, they need someone else that can do the job in case Pie is not the guy. I'm not talking Pagan or Infante either. Hopefully whoever the Cubs pickup for the OF can play CF if need be. Bottom line, it would be great if Pie can do it. But there has to be someone else in place in case he can't.

Which is why I don't get the folks who get all upset when there is speculation about the Cubs adding a CF. I sincerely hope Pie turns out to be the guy, but if you don't bring in anyone else capable of filling that job you are just setting yourself up for failure. -
He will beat the Cubs at least once on a hit and run where the pitch will be 6 feet outsiide and in the dirt.

IU should finally get some tests this weekend. I'm curious to see how they respond. They play Illinois St. in Chicago on Friday, and then either Kent St. or Xavier on Saturday night. That is followed by Georgia Tech on Tuesday and Southern Illinois in Carbondale on Saturday. The most amazing stat so far about Gordon is his efficiency. He has scored 84 points on only 41 shots. O.J. Mayo should take note.

All because he changed his mind on Illinois? How many times did you change your mind as an 18 year old? Meanwhile there are two individuals in Illinois' program who are lucky they are still able to walk. That "decison" was worse than Gordon ever made. i keep telling you, i don't know who that is. even if i did, right or wrong makes no difference to me on this issue. i don't care what the rules say, i don't care what the whole state of indiana says, i'm going to hold a huge grudge and you would, too--regardless of how old a kid is. Grudges are fine, but my point about stupid decisions still stands. yeah, and i can wish evil upon him for making a stupid decision. that's my right. Yep, have fun with that. Anyways, go Illinois, but just for tonight. oh great, an iu fan telling someone else to relax. look, i have nothing but the utmost respect for you, but everyone nurtures a hatred, if this is the biggest problem i have to face in my life, i'm a lucky, lucky man. Your the exception then. I teach 18 yr olds and the ones I have on a daily basis have a hard time making up their minds on what to have for lunch.

Williams will know who he is real soon. that's fine by me, without [segment missing], sampson won't have an insurance policy. the sooner that happens, the better. Well, true, there isn't another Gordon (whoops, I mean "segment missing") but Devin Ebanks won't be so bad either.

One of the most impressive things about Gordon is his ability to get to the free throw line. So far tonight he is 10-11 from the line. 30 points...again.

Who's side are you on? We have enough 2B, but no SS. Hence the, "If Hendry" disclaimer. I agree with you, but it looks like Hendry is looking at 2B from everything that has been reported.

If Hendry is insistent on getting a 2B with speed he should look into Burke. Given consistent playing time he could be a decent option. The track record is there at the college and minor league level.
