  1. I think the Reds are still a year or two away. They are pretty good at home, and terrible on the road. Volquez has been amazing but he won't be that dominant all year. The league has caught up to Cueto a little bit too. Offensively they are very good, but after Volquez and Harang, the pitching is questionable.
  2. Bob said third time in this homestand. Wow. Yeah, that is what I meant to say.
  3. That is about the 3rd time Theriot has done that this year.
  4. He would have dove, smothered it, and then not been able to make a play on it. Would have prevented the run. Not like it matters right now though.
  5. Its a bit over the top to call it horrible. Lieber can easily throw 3-4 innings regardless of what happens. But whats the point? Then he's unavailable tomorrow. Why not just let Lilly try to pitch out of it. My point is, I love that Lou manages to win every game. But once in awhile you have to accept that you're getting your butt kicked and try to look at the long term picture, which is getting Lilly on track and not overtaxing your pen. Is it that big of deal if Lieber is unavailable tomorrow? Why not get him some extended work? Getting Lilly out now will not prevent him from getting back on track.

  7. But who do they replace him with? I have faith that Hendry could find someone worse. If Pie isn't going to play, then I'd be in favor of a straight Johnson/Lofton platoon. Kenny should be good for a .350 OBP against righties. BP hinted that Lofton is a phone call away.
  8. I stand corrected. I just checked the TiVo on the Edmonds error. The last I saw was the camera shot of Soriano drifitng towards the ball.
  9. And that was Soriano's fault too, right? No... You'll have to pick your Soriano fight with someone else.
  10. Then I don't buy your "trust your eyes" argument. Oh ya? Go SNLVARR yourself!
  11. For what? That was clearly Jimbo's ball. Soriano made absolutely no attempt to go after it and just looked at Edmonds the whole time.
  12. After 5 games, Lilly had a 7.30 ERA. Hill has a 4.12. Yeah we screwed over Hill. He screwed himself over. Why are we judging it on ERA anyway?
  13. That was a routine pop fly to LF that the wind carried out.
  14. After 5 games, Lilly had a 7.30 ERA. Hill has a 4.12. Lilly has been pretty good in MAy, which is what I was referring to. I fail to see how Rich Hill, who has been in AAA has contributed more than Lilly during that period.
  15. Edmonds will get the heat, but I put that one on Soriano.
  16. No. Not at all either. I think if the Cubs wanna go far in the playoffs they're going to need to aquire a #2. Most people here have been saying that for most of this season. Lilly isn't this bad, but he's not a "true" #2 that you can hinge your playoffs on with the ace. yep...this is why i constantly pray for the bluejays to loose at least 95% of their games till the allstar break... BURNETT CHA CHA CHA Or we could just call our number 2 back up from Iowa. Rich Hill has not performed like a #2 at any point this season. I hope he does, but he's got to get things going in the right direction. Yes in his what, 3 starts up here he wasn't great. Which is shocking. Most guys are great every game they pitch. Come on we gave him 3 to 4 starts and then jerked him around. You know my stance on Hill, I'm not his biggest supporter, but I don't dislike the guy. Its not that his starts "weren't great". He was amechanical mess and had no idea where the ball was going. It would have been better if he was just getting hit, but he couldn't get it over the plate. Yeah, but why can we let Marquis suck up here, yet not let Hill get things figured out? They were still both giving us equal chance to win. To me it reeks of the same thing we are doing with Pie and Edmonds. Get rid of the young guy, while letting some washed up guy play. According to SNLVAR, which accounts for the quality of batters faced, Hill has contributed more to the Cubs this year than Lilly or Marquis, and he's done so in half as many starts as either. Well, that is one case where I think you would have to trust your eyes over the numbers. Lilly has been shaky, but he's put together a pretty decent run that is better than Hill was able to do.

  20. Working the count is fine, but if you do it too much you are going to find yourself behind the count a lot with Cook.
