  1. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? Game thread. Only pro-Murton comments are allowed then? Gotcha. No, it means don't take anything said seriously. Gotcha...my bad on the misinterpretation.
  2. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? CLIFF FLOYD IS VERY FAT Yeah. Cliff Floyd doesn't eat the sample sizes, he eats the full meal. :D

  4. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd?
  5. Howry was already warm before Lee broke the game open. There wouldnt have been enough time to get someone else warmed up after that hit by Lee. That is why Howry still came in.
  6. he did take it away from someone. when he was starting at the end of last year. shouldn't floyd have to take it from him? Yep this is typical cub crap. Like when Corey had to earn at bats from Damon Buford. Or when we had to let Fred McGriff get his 30 homers even at Choi's expense. But, at least this year they wrapped the turd up by letting us all think Murton was going to play by giving him all the Spring ABs and the opening day start. Is it the Cubs fault Patterson and Choi became "turds"? murton will be fine. I doubt this was apremeditated plan to play him in ST and opening day.
  7. first reaction may be, "huh?" I looked him up though, he is 11-16 lifetime against Brandon Webb. He just struck out though.
  8. And in other news... New studies have shown that Humans still need oxygen in order to survive.
  9. If I had been the GM, he wouldn't have been on the team in this capacity. Then you'd have had your way and he wouldn't have been on the team. Do you remember that he stated clearly that if he didn't win the fifth starters spot that he didn't want to be here? Hendry also said that it would be "unfair" to Miller if he didn't start and would seek to trade or release him. The long relief spot is not an option for Miller. I could care less what Wade Miller wants, or what he feels is unfair. What's unfair is losing winnable games because your starting pitcher can't crack 90mph and throws the ball straight down the middle. . Players would be lining up to play in your organization. :?
  10. But he was and its still Howrys job as our supposed best reliever to get him out. Hell anything but give up a home run to Adam Freakin Everett. Howry and Eyre have been horrible so far this year. Money well spent there. 7 games.... Give it a little more than a week into they year before we evaluate if it was money well spent. The real comedy is in the game threads, after each win or loss they are either losing 100 games, or headed to the playoffs.
  11. And he should be based off his numbers versus Williams.
  12. He has to be hurt. Why else would he have gone this long without doing anything?
  13. Has Murton cured cancer yet? Or is he waiting to do that during the All-Star break? This is crazy....
  14. Yeah, I just wished he wouldn't have had such a wasted AB with that Sac Fly. A walk would have been much cooler. :)
  15. I don't remember them showing national games this early in the year. Didn't they usually start beginning mid-to late May?
  16. NO. I just think he overdoes it at times. I have a feeling reactions would be different if that was Oswalt or Carpenter.
  17. Anyone think Zambrano does that a little too much?
  18. Taking some pitchers would only put you down early in the count. Sheets is a strike machine.
  19. I thought the ump was squeezing him a bit in game 1. Maybe so. But reacting like that isn't exactly going to get you any calls either.
  20. We? I was perfectly fine with yesterday's line up. I thnk he is referring to the mini-meltdown that occurs everytime Murton is not in the lineup. I like Murton as much as the next guy, but Floyd is going to get some starts. Luckily, it doesn't appear as though it's going to be an absolute platoon. Murton is starting against Sheets today. Exactly. I think Floyd could be a great addition this year. He needs to play enough to be productive, and not too much to where he gets hurt.
  21. Hopefully Zambrano doesn't act like a big baby again today.
