  1. trying to hit the ball on the ground isn't wise. Really? Neither is trying to hit the ball in the air. more hits will come via the ground than air. Obviously if you are leaving line drives out of the conversation you can't leave line drives out of the equation. the intent should be to hit line drives all of the time. Obviously. But your still more likely to get a hit on the ground vs. a fly ball. i never said you should try to hit fly balls. i believe that trying to hit fly balls is counter-productive as well. what i said is that you should never try to hit ground balls. regardless of the situation--in any situation, a line drive is going to generally be most productive. I agree in most situations, but not necessarilly in a hit-and-run. With the infield moving, a ball on the ground can easily be a base hit. Or you can line into a DP like barrett just did.
  2. I know you're new here, but you might want to keep the language PG. That isn't PG? I can think of much worse. :D

  4. haha. It's funny but it's true. Can you imagine what would happen if he went 0-4 tonight with a GIDP and 2 K's? He'd be a platoon player. Your exaggerating just a bit. "Most important game of his life?"

  7. 50-50 isn't a good percentage. Well, let's say it another way. Without using the hit and run at all in that inning, the Cubs get 1 run instead of 2. i'm listening to the game, was it that sure of a thing? a 3-6-3 isn't exactly an easy DP. It was right at the bag. Gonzalez could have tagged first immediately and thrown to 2nd base in plenty of time.
  8. Right now we arent hitting like the 27 Yanks. Time and a place for everything. If its through then it is 1st and 3rd. On the ground you still have a guy on. H&R with Sorri, not a big fan. Barrett up with Murton on makes a good Run and Hit combo. we were hitting well in that inning. no need to take chances when we're hitting well. Just because a couple guys in front of Barrett got a hit doesn't guarantee he will. Hitting is contagious is a dumb saying. it isn't the flu.
  9. 50-50 isn't a good percentage. the 2 runs it brought in is good though.
  10. Really? That's not going to get a pitcher who hasn't exactly established himself any favors in regards to staying in the majors. In his defense, it was apathetic attempt at a block by the catcher. The catcher isn't exactly established either.
  11. Hah! Did you all see Hensley walking off the mound? Told the catcher "nice job". In reference to the terrible attempt at blocking that pitch. Then he let out a huge F-bomb!
  12. the right field/left field "sucks" chant is terrible.
  13. Hells no, put Izzy on the bench for Theriot. Izturis has done nothing in..well...ever. i don't know if lou would do that, though. Boy does Theriot ever have a nice swing though. i like his patience. he's not afraid to strike out and i love it. He's not afraid to strike out? Just because he's patient?
  14. If you cloned Murton and Theriot, would this board consider it to be the second coming?
  15. Really? I don't know. probably has more to do with the cool weather and weekday night game.
  16. Marquis pitches have some really good movement so far.
  17. .240/.320/.367 in 53 games .181/.263/.306 at Wrigley so yeah, he'll get 3 hits with 7 RBI. Book it Allright smartypants 8-) Last 3 years he is .348/.375/.609/.984
  18. Geoff Blum will get at least 3 hits tonight. I didn't look it up, but I'm sure he has fantastic numbers against the Cubs.
  19. Haven't got the Cubs lineup yet, but the Reds are using the same one as yesterday.
