  1. Boise is up 7 and just intercepted one inside their own 10 or so. I'm kind of tired of them. Why? Until they actually get to play in a national title game against the odds, I am still rooting for them to put more pressure on the BCS. Their weak schedule and the reward they get for being successful with it. You don't think Boise's deserved the BCS spots they've gotten over the years? They certainly deserve it more than the Big East winner has. Yeah, I do, but they rarely play anyone to prove it during the regular season. My dislike of them mostly stems from 2009 when Iowa was making a run at the title and Boise was as well.

  4. If you're referring to my post Iowa played better against Minnesota than they did today. He's talking about Michigan last week and why we're worried this week. My bad.

  6. Iowa played their worst game of the year today and considering they decided to do that against a good team, they got their ass kicked. This has been an annoying year of Iowa football.
  7. Hoping this is an infamous Sparty choke taking place.
  8. Jesus Christ Iowa.
  9. Honestly I'm surprised there hasn't been an angry mob gathered on his lawn. I'm pretty sure that harassing a sex offender is a fairly serious crime in itself and even though Sandusky hasn't yet been convicted I'm sure the police intervention would take place and any one caught on his front lawn itself would be in pretty big trouble. I'm far from a lawyer though.
  10. I love the headline.
  11. Yeah, you can tell Levy is annoyed.
  12. Some Penn State students are embarrassing themselves right now. They're not representing their school very well at all right now.
  13. My initial human reaction is to feel bad for Paterno because every picture of him makes him look like a sad, pathetic, lonely old man then I realize that he screwed up big time and know this is what needs to happen.
  14. I don't believe it's unheard of for white uneducated older men to fall back on racial stereotypes even if unintentional.
  15. It's not racism how he dislikes players who are bad. It's racism how he inevitably falls on racial stereotypes to describe them. So if a Latin player truly is lazy, and I observe this personally, would it be racist for me to describe him as lazy? Hint: there's another explanation besides racism here. The thought process behind a player being considered lazy in any sports is usually being drawn from another source beside actually seeing the players work ethic. These people who claim players are lazy usually are not around these people enough to know so it's coming from another source. Racial stereotype could easily be one of the things that is being drawn upon to come up with this conclusion.
  16. What punishment are the players even really getting in the situation that coaches get fired now? The only thing that comes to mind is losses and the could still win games. I don't see how that's a big deal.
  17. What is this "hurting the players" nonsense? They play for a kiddie rape enabler. Sandusky hurt the players. Paterno hurt the players. Canning Paterno now does not hurt the players. Forcing them to play more games under the cloud of a supposed head coach who enabled a child rapist to rape kids is more hurtful than taking him away from the situation. The damage has already been done. You fire Paterno and it hurts in terms of losses it's still on Paterno and it's just completing what has already been done.
  18. With that said, if the Giants have a good stretch against those teams they could be in the driver seat for a bye. Maybe, but San Francisco has 5 of their 8 remaining games against their own division. Unless they are much worse than they've shown it would be hard to see them win less than 4 of those. Their 3 other remaining games are tough (NYG, Bal, Pitt) but they have two of them at home. It looks pretty likely that the 49ers will have 12+ wins, so the Giants would both have to beat the 49ers and then only drop another game or two in order to get the bye. I don't think the Giants will get a bye. As you said, the 49ers schedule is very light. I fully expect New Orleans to end up ahead of New York as well. I don't think the Giants are very good. The Giants always seem like a team that has talent but underachieves. Basically I could see them being very dangerous in the playoffs because they have the talent to hang with good teams (like last week when they beat the Pats) and make a run. But they could also lose to teams they are better than and miss the playoffs completely. As a Packer fan, they are one of the teams I want to see miss the playoffs/avoid the Pacers because I think they could take us down. The other two being the Bears and the Saints.
  19. There not evenly remotely close situations. I can understand the mindset from people associated with the University could be relatively similar (aka Alum, fans, faculty, current student). A very vile and bad thing happened to the school you are associated with and the first reaction is the deflect it as they think it may make them look bad (as what happened with Ohio State and I'm not comparing the two but I am saying it's possible that minds don't differentiate immediately two different negative acts). Eventually people learn that it was certain people who committed the act and it doesn't really reflect them at all and the understand how to criticize the institution.
  20. What will the crowd reaction be for football team and coaching staff on Saturday in Happy Valley? That would be awkward to be in attendance.
  21. That's two straight games where it seemed as though rivals brought it more than the Hawks. That's frustrating because we are a good hockey team.
  22. I believe it can happen on any fair catch Sebastian Janikowski once attempted something like a 75 yard FG off a play like that. Mason Crosby and I want to say Neil Rackers have as well. It never works but it's fun when it happens.
  23. Random question since safety's are being discussed. Is the safety free kick the play where a team can call a fair catch and have a field goal in which the opposing team can't block it. Actually can this happen on any fair catch?
  24. He has cancer so maybe.
  25. I don't think the punter is fast enough to out run everyone in 9 seconds. Then they get the ball in your territory with a shot to win it. Exactly, that's riskier than just punting it out of bounds. Maybe if you put someone who isn't the punter back there to do it. If anyone catches him it's a fumble near the end zone waiting to happen and the coach that allows that to occur is shot dead within 24 hours. Sounds good in theory. I wouldn't mind the punter taking a few seconds before punting it out of bounds. 4 seconds of stalling + 5 second hang time = win. But now that I think about it, you really risk the kick being blocked and returned for a TD or at least getting the ball in an area where you don't have to throw a hail Mary to score a TD. I like creativity but in my mind there is no need to get cute. Kick it out of bounds and make the other team have their 1% shot at a hail mary if they can even throw it that far.
