  1. It's not a lot of room but it's something. Rea did the job last year but he and a healthy Assad are redundant. Especially with Brown, Wicks, Wiggins, etc back there and Steele coming back, there's not really room for both and our depth is decent.
  2. Yeah, as someone who also follows the Phillies, it's a big pain point for the fanbase. Their front office seems content to let Marsh and Adolis Garcia get a hefty amount of at bats and Justin Crawford get a crack at CF. They still need to unload Castellanos and bring in a catcher. I suppose the thinking there could be they sign Bichette and move Turner to the outfield. Or they sign him and trade Bohm for a catcher, since it's unlikely they'd have money for both Realmuto and Bichette.
  3. I get your point but that absolutely does not get you Skenes.
  4. Mariners signed Patrick Wisdom to a MiLB deal. He cranked 35 HR in the KBO last year.
  5. Now my preference is Bichette to play 3B. Shaw can be the super sub to play all over the infield. I honestly like the idea of Alcantara being the 4th OF but it would be nice to have more depth. Also the lineup in Iowa is bleak right now so I assume we will have some more depth signings soon.
  6. The Marlins' rotation depth in the minors is DEEP. Lot of interesting SP prospects especially at the top of the minors. I never expected they'd want pitchers in this deal.
  7. I'm pleasantly surprised if that's all it takes. Losing Caissie stings but you have to do it. I like Hernandez but the jury is still out on him and he's a bit of a gamble.
  8. Yeah I'm gonna wait for someone other than Boob. Also everyone is assuming that's the Case(sie)
  9. I'm just catching up on this. Finally getting a guy. Definitely a risk but he is something we needed. If Caissie is in the deal does that mean Mo is the DH and Seiya is in RF and Alcantara is the 4th OF? Would be nice if we went and added a bat too.
  10. Fwiw, it seems Buster Olney went on a podcast and said the Red Sox made an offer to Bregman and he thinks they work out a deal. So it would back up the above report.
  11. If that's a legit offer then this one is over.
  12. Yeah fwiw I just eyed Sanoja as an extra piece if we wanna kill two birds with one stone and have noted that the ask on starting pitchers has been insanely high. I would rather NOT trade both Shaw and Alcantara in a deal like that but sometimes you have to bite the bullet.
  13. I have had in my head signing Bregman or Bichette and trading Shaw for a SP. Is something like Shaw and Alcantara for Edward Cabrera and Javier Sanoja feasible? Get the guy we've been looking at for the rotation and Sanoja is a controllable utility guy coming off a gold glove win. Not the greatest hitter but has pop and can play anywhere. Basically what we wanted Berti to be. The Marlins have a lot of prospect pitching depth in the upper minors so I don't imagine they'd want Wicks or Brown.
  14. Yeah knowing this front office and the resources, it's one or the other. Not both Imai and Cabrera. I'm guessing that Jed really likes Bregman and is now just working to see what can get done while waiting on Imai.
  15. Heck yeah. This is a fun low-risk signing. If he's healthy he's gonna be a solid late-inning option. Pen is basically set now. Last spot or two will be a spring training battle.
  16. Watching Fairbanks go to the Marlins is doubly frustrating. They're not contending AND it's a one year deal to a high end reliever. Something Jed prefers. How does this happen?
  17. Webb is a decent middle reliever, it's a cheap deal and we basically needed to rebuild the pen so I don't dislike it in a vacuum but you pair it with the lack of notable signings and it's disappointing/frustrating.
  18. Welp, sorry all the posters who wanted him
  19. Clearing roster/salary space for someone or just general Mets-ness? He's a big fan favorite.
  20. Idk how connected everything is but the dam is breaking a little. Makes me agree with some others that this could be a very big weekend.
  21. That is a HAUL for Baz, who has a lot of upside and team control but hasn't put it together. And that is a fun 3-team trade. I kinda love it for the Pirates. Mason Montgomery could be elite and Lowe gives their lineup a little thump for a year. Good for them!
  22. Now they gotta get Imai
  23. Bummer he didn't pan out
