  1. There were no better options to DFA than Tyson Miller? That kinda bums me out.
  2. I just learned that Cubs icon Michael Wuertz is their pitching coach. Loved that guy for those couple years. That's pretty cool.I vaguely recall the board losing its s--t when we traded him away and he then had a great season for the A's.
  3. I just learned that Cubs icon Michael Wuertz is their pitching coach.
  4. And we signed Dee Strange-Gordon to a minor league deal. Could see him getting a call up soon depending on Hoerner's injury.
  5. Wolters cleared waivers, has been sent to Iowa.
  6. He had surgery, no timetable for return. I'm guessing he isn't coming back this season, truly sounds awful. Hoping he recovers. Also guessing he goes to 60 day IL and someone else gets the 40 man spot when needed.
  7. Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Opens the door for Wander, for sure. But they're selling awfully low on Adames for two meh pitchers. Hate that the Brewers made a good move.
  9. Before our game with the Nats, Starlin Castro had 9 walks in his previous 10 games. Invasion of the body snatchers?
  10. It's apparently just one dollar. One step above releasing him so he could go to a team that needs an outfielder.
  11. I am shocked that Nance has only been in the system since 2016. Seems like it's been longer. Mills has not looked great this year. Think he needs some time to figure it out.
  12. 's brother [tweet] [/tweet] At one point he seemed like an interesting 4th outfielder. Guessing with all the injuries we decided to roll the dice and see what he does in Iowa.
  13. Our old pal Carl's Jr got called up by the Braves, gave up 3 runs in his first appearance and was promptly DFA'd. RIP.
  14. I distinctly remember my younger brother who was I think like 13 or 14 at the time telling me he guaranteed Nomar wouldn't hit better than .250 with the Cubs after the trade and he insisted on betting me $5 and it was some pretty easy money so I think back on Nomar fondly for that.
  15. I was surprised we didn't have any other options on the 40 man but ok. Ryan had been decent but with Brothers pitching well and Steele breaking out, another lefty was redundant.
  16. Seems like he wanted to spend time with family. Guessing he didn't love being on the taxi squad. Glad there are no hard feelings there and maybe we'll see him back again.
  17. It really was wild how much he fell off a cliff after signing that contract. Like, even his BB numbers took a dive. And yeah, I still remember seeing shots of the crowd at Wrigley the summer before (was it 2012?) and there were dudes in custom Cubs Pujols jerseys. I think we made out just fine.
  18. Keegan Thompson getting the call-up.
  19. Replace Dan Winkler with Shelby Miller. WTF was that?
  20. [tweet] [/tweet] Kazmar got a cup of coffee in 2008. Has spent the past 12 seasons in AAA. What a story.
  21. Steele and Strop sent down for Winkler and Workman coming off COVID IL. I still don't know why we're choosing to give Winkler innings. Could say same for Maples. He is what he is at this point, he'll strike out three in one inning after walking the bases loaded. Steele looked pretty good, I'm sure he'll get another look soon. That reminded me, is Kyle Ryan dead?
  22. Four catchers in that lineup. Impressive.
  23. Next we're gonna hear we've hired their dad to be a coach or something (their dad also played in the bigs but his name doesn't begin with an A).
