  1. It will happen on April 1 and we'll think it's some twisted joke until he appears in the lineup.
  2. I've seen this issue before and I was wondering the same thing. Now I know.
  3. I'm not really surprised by that. Wasn't that the case all along?
  4. I own the 2001 copy. I go back and check it for a laugh once in awhile, to see the Cub prospects and prospects on other teams who exploded or imploded. At last count, only about 5 guys were still with the Cubs from their top 30 list that year.
  5. 4 goals, that's a season high right? Nah, they scored 6 once. But 4 is still shocking. I thought we'd just win every game 2-1. Have you been to the Prudential Center yet? Or did Barry Melrose scare you away? I'm like 15 minutes away from it and I might be going soon. Freaking Blackhawks are doing just enough to keep faint hopes alive without actually making up any ground. But I think it can be good for a young team like this to play well down the stretch, even if all it does is mess up their draft status. I've been at college, so I haven't had the chance yet. But I''ll get there by the end of the season or next season, hopefully. I've heard good things.
  6. I don't know about that Jones guy. He didn't hit well last year.

  8. http://bokertov.typepad.com/btb/images/charlie_brown_lucy_football_1.jpg That's how I feel.
  9. Make them throw in a prospect say...a Scott Sizemore, or a Matt Joyce, then I would. But trading a young, cheap valueable arm for a free agent to be EXPENSIVE SS is NOT an ideal trade, IMO. So again, if Detroit is willing to throw in a solid prospect with Renteria, then yeah I would Marmol for Renteria/prospect. But the first goal, should be to trade Dempster before considering moving Marmol. Marmol is a reliever. Renteria fills a massive gaping hole. It's a no-brainer. Yeah, he fills a hole. But to plug up that hole by trading possibly our best reliever? Who also makes $9 mil less? No dice, unless they throw in a decent prospect. If Wood craps out and/or someone gets hurt, the pen becomes thinner without Marmol there.
  10. Devils win Woo!!!
  11. I'll add my two cents despite only quickly reading the previous posts. Yeah, that one season was definitely a fluke, but who's to say he still won't put up at least an .800 OPS? He hits for average and usually has a pretty decent OBP. He won't hit 20 hRs again, but he could still hit 10-12, especially at Wrigley.
  12. 1. Roberts is coming to the Cubs 2. OH Insiders know all 3. OH Insiders suck 4. Roberts is NOT coming to the Cubs 5. Hendry, Steve Stone are all-knowing demi-gods who clearly understand better than anyone else how to construct a World Series winning team 6. Sori will definitely be moved down in the order if Roberts is acquired 7. The above won't happen b/c Sori sucks w/ guys on base 8. Sliding into 1st base is sound technique (proven by scientific study) 9. Continually citing Hendry, et al as true experts beyond reproach trumps all other arguments 10. Roberts MIGHT come to the Cubs 11. Putting posters on "ignore" is a godsend 12. This thread is epic potpourri... I'm sure I missed plenty, but those are the highlights that stick out in my mind..... That's pretty much what this thread has been
  13. Dude don't you know anything about baseball. CFs hit leadoff unless there is a skinny, fast, black dude at another position (very rare). Gotta have a guy that can handle the bat (i.e. sac bunt, hit and run, makes productive outs) batting 2nd. Gotta give that fast dude a chance to run. Corner OF and IF are the 3-6 spots, and mostly interchangeable. C is 7th. SS is 8th. These are both defense-first positions, so the offense you get from them is a bonus. Defense wins championships and you gotta be strong up the middle. hahahaha that is good. Today's starting lineup: 1. Dickerson CF (right) 2. Hopper DH (handles bad, right) 3. Griffey RF (right) 4. Dunn LF (right) 5. Keppinger 3B (right) 6. Hatteberg 1B (right) 7. Valentin C (right) 8. Castro SS (right) 9. A. Phillips 2B That is scary. scary good. Hey, it's Andy Phillips.
  14. ...or it may not! Awesome I heard the Cubs are trying to show respect to the political process and wait until the Democrats decide their presidential nominee. Nah, I hear they want to be respectful and let the entire Presidential campaign have its time in the sun so this trade will happen in November.
  15. That's an answer I do not want to think about.
  16. There's also a camera that routinely takes updated photos of Wrigley. I know people here posted some when they started digging up the field.
  17. Hey, this trade may happen before I graduate college. Who knew.
