    Yes, people here are VERY sensitive that you follow all rules and regulations. There will be no deviation in something as serious as a dying Cubs message board. As you can see, these strict guidelines have created a vibrant community with hundreds, ney, thousands of posters. I can barely keep up with all the conversation happening here. I mean, we get 1 or 2 new threads a day! Sometimes it gets as crazy as three per day, if you count the game threads! How dare you add to the clutter around here! Fight the power, man

    Or pay the $5 million and get a better prospect. Or pawn the $5 million off and use it to make sure we sign guys like Maples, Dunston, Vogelbach, etc. Sure, if that's where the money ends up going.

    Would you extend him for two? I would consider it, but I was drinking at lunch. I guess it wouldn't be out of the question, but I'd rather trade him and go after Fielder or Pujols(though who knows about his health).

    I think you have to wait for his numbers to start looking a lot more impressive, and then think long and hard about what you are going to do at 1B next year. The Cubs were never going to get Pujols, and the likelihood probably went down with the injury. But they need a 1B next year, regardless. If you are just going to get another fringe prospect, there's really no point. I really think folks are missing the possibility that the Cubs may be angling to extend Pena. That'd be pretty stupid. Extending him for a year (I don't know if that's really an option) wouldn't be completely stupid. They may not be planning on having Ramirez back next year. Maybe they do something a little outside-the-box and work a deal for H. Ramirez and put him at 3B? Bring back Pena at 1B. I don't know, sort of just thinking out loud. One year wouldn't be a problem, but I would expect an extension to be multiple years.

    Wow you guys are awesome, this is the reason these boards are a ghost town and there are like 8 people that post here on a regular basis. I never said Barney is the 2b of the future I said I liked what I saw from him so far. Christ learn to read and stop talking for other people. If you run off everyone with an opinion sooner or later you'll be the only ones here left to listen to yours, of course that may be the way you want it and maybe its better that way.     Not to shortchange the Pacers, because they're giving the Bulls all they can handle, but I have to admit I was amused reading an article from Indystar.com this morning where it said the Pacers "forced 22 turnovers". I'm sure it was just a turn of a phrase, but the Pacers didn't "force" all/most of those TO's. The Bulls did a fine job of doing that on their own. Thank God we cleared that up.
