  1. Sample size. Either that or...Fontenot blows I might be incorrect, but sample should have nothing to do with it. I think the initial question of how that was possible because Soriano has been out the past 8 games, but he played in the first 2 games of the past 10. So he has data. Limited data, but data none the less. Given, the sample size comes into question for consistency of data. Fontenot's OPS for his 20 ab's is obviously a stronger indicator for his performance than Soriano's OPS for his 6 ab's could more easily be a variance from the mean. Edit: So I was agreeing with your second statement. Font blows.
  2. Kicked me by surprise too. Gentlemen: Set your unproductive work levels on high.
  3. That's right, Ronny. Damn you for having goals. Agreed. He didn't say "we're going to win the world series" or make any other bold prediction. I understand one game at a time, but what's wrong with saying you're THINKING about the World Series. You play the game to win. A good season of winning finishes in the World Series. Long Term goals.
  4. He ONLY took 4 pitches though, where's that patience?? His P/PA went down after walking...
  5. True, except I can't escape that 3 of those wins were against the Pirates, and we camed down to the last strike in the 8th before getting 5 of those 7, almost stranding basees loaded no outs. And 10 of those 13 wins are against the 3 bottom dwellers of the possible worst division in baseball. Devil's Advocate anyone?
  6. That's pretty damn impressive. 25 straight innings without a 1-2-3 inning? There's only a .04% chance of that happening. If my calculations are correct: Assuming an average .350 OBP, there is a 27% chance of a 1-2-3 inning. So 73% chance of 1 person getting on base. 73% ^ 25 is .04%.
  7. Class smass. Going to class is overrated. You have a book right? Half of the professors teach straight of the book anyways. Then again, the other half of professors have their own agenda.
  8. Interesting placement of Pie. Trying to get him more pitches in front of Lee, Rammy, and Fuku? I think it's because Blanco is going to be the 8th hitter pretty much whenever he plays, and Lou doesn't see Cedeno as a top of the order hitter. That leaves 2nd as the only available spot for Pie. I'd ride with Ronny in the 2 hole for today. He's got about a .430 OBP in the last week. Gotta strike while the iron is hot. edit: I completely understand and agree with what you said though.
  9. Interesting placement of Pie. Trying to get him more pitches in front of Lee, Rammy, and Fuku?
  10. I really hope that if the Cubs keep hitting and playing like this, Soriano won't rush back to action. Or management/Lou won't let him rush back. Even though he prefers to play over sit, which is a phenominal quality, he's gotta learn to listen to his body. Is he a great player and an integral part of the team? Yes. But if he rushes back just to play at 85% or put himself in line to get hurt worse, it would suck. It's only April.
  11. I would rather not pitch Wood here. I realize he hasn't pitched in the past 3 games, but we still play everyday until next Sunday or so. Might need him
  12. hahaha. I wish I was working tonight - really do. The atmosphere seems awesome tonight. Ton of people were still around at like 630 when I was getting off the train. And I heard the crowd again... FELIX
  13. As much as I absolutely love living next to Wrigley, it's still a little...disheartening...when I hear the crowd before it's on tv or radio
  14. Think Phillips and Oral planned on both wearing purple tonite? They look snazzy
  15. Soto pulled back too far on that throw. He's gotta throw more from his ear
  16. Steve Phillips proposed to David Wright before the game. David is still thinking it over.
  17. PAYBACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK (ok, he was out) Theriot wouldn't have had the arm for that
  18. You're up 2. Concede 1 run and keep it from being a big inning....which it can be now
  19. Neither does mine. I don't get why 3rd basemen don't just throw over to first for the easy out. The throw isn't that much farther, and they do it all the time. Every coach would say to throw to first. Really stupid, considering Font is pretty speedy and had a leadoff.
