1. I would hate to be a Rockies fan. Yesterday: Hey, we're up by 8. We can get a win. Today: Nice 2 run lead early in the game.
2. I expected that to be caught like the first inning...very nice, wind.
3. He could start by not maxing out at 83 MPH. Wow, is that all the harder he's throwing? He's gotta be hiding an arm injury. Has to be. It was like when JoBo mysteriously lost 6 mph off of his fastball and everyone started killing him. He was playing injured and didn't tell anyone. I bet Lilly is the same way. I bet you can't make the new game thread. Now. I'm doing it now. Keep your pants on. It's No Pants Friday. I love seeing the new game thread after a win. Nothing better. I also love how chicagocubs.com went all LL Cool J on us and labaled the head story "Don't call it a comeback" Dont call it a comeback I been here for years Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear Makin the tears rain down like a mon soon Listen to the bass go boom Explosion overpowerin Over the competition Im towerin Wreckin shop when I drop these lyrics thatll make you call the cops Dont you dare stare, you betta move Dont ever compare Me to the rest thatll all get sliced and diced Competitions payin the price

5. My Favorite Bob Uecker quotes... "If a guy hits .300 every year, what does he have to look forward to? I always tried to stay around .190, with three or four RBI. And I tried to get them all in September. That way I always had something to talk about during the winter." "The biggest thrill a ballplayer can have is when your son takes after you. That happened when my Bobby was in his championship Little League game. He really showed me something. Struck out three times. Made an error that lost the game. Parents were throwing things at our car and swearing at us as we drove off. Gosh, I was proud." "Career highlights? I had two. I got an intentional walk from Sandy Koufax and I got out of a rundown against the Mets." "Sure, women sportswriters look when they're in the clubhouse. Read their stories. How else do you explain a capital letter in the middle of a word?" "The highlight of my career? In '67 with St. Louis, I walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run in an intersquad game in spring training." "Baseball hasn't forgotten me. I go to a lot of Old-Timers games and I haven't lost a thing. I sit in the bullpen and let people throw things at me. Just like old times."
6. According to Len during today's broadcast, Lou was toying with the idea of sitting Lee on Wednesday to give him an extra day off, especially now that Hoffpauir is up and can fill in fine at 1B defensively. How do you pronounce Hoffpauir? Hoff-power Honest? What a great name for a baseball player. I refer to him as "The Hoff" in hopes that some of the extraordinary talent of the real "The Hoff" transfers onto Hoffpauir.
7. Dempster's era without Edmonds: 2.67 Depster's era with Edmonds: 0.00 Nothing funnier than stats without real basis.
8. Agreed, woulda been great for Dempster to have his "I'm a starting pitcher like I told everyone" moment. Still a great game and has made a great transition back to the rotation. great.
9. 90% cheers. And some fans were standing and cheering. Fans east of the stadium
10. aweseom. Gotta be happy with our #9 production as of late.
11. atta boy ronny get em on, get em over, get em in
12. yahoo has this on their game notes: Game Notes NEW YORK PITCHER MIKE PELFREY HAS A NO-HITTER THROUGH SIX INNINGS. I don't think yahoo believes in superstitions
13. Please admit you made this up i don't think i did, but i could be wrong. When I think of meatball I think of ATHF. I see some similarities. no, that's meatwad. Correct. I wasn't saying that was his exact name, I was saying when I think of meatballs I think of ATHF.

15. I believe that's an exact quote from Mariotti's article in today's SunTimes
16. Thanks Bruce. How do you feel about this Edmonds move? It's a low-risk move. Worth a try although I said in my blog I'd take a pass if it were me. They're going to assign Dave Keller full time to Pie in Iowa. Let's just see what happens. Thanks. What's Keller going to focus on with Pie? I'll take a stab at this one: Hitting.
17. Shameless plug. joke. love the work. cry myself to sleep everynight because I don't have a job like that.
18. That's true enough, but it really doesn't even suggest a trend or a strong correlation. Alternatively, you say......... CUBS are 5-1 when draw 8 walks or more CUBS are 8-8 when they draw 4-7 walks CUBS are 9-6 when they draw fewer than 4 walks. If there's really a trend hiding in there somewhere, it will show itself as the season wears on, and the sample size increases. I would assume so with the increase size. Look at the stat for 4 walks. 1-3. Talk about a variance.
