  1. sounds like this ordeal really humbled manziel
  2. ah the college football thread, where I remember that I hate everyone.
  3. overplaying your hand a bit by being so bold as to complain about the half game suspension there guy.
  4. definitely. I mean this clown only has four cubs in his top 21??? get real bro...should be at least 15 with a couple spots reserved for "whoever the cubs draft in 2014."
  5. is there any real evidence to suggest that a small guy like edwards can't handle a season of starting? or is that just a thing people say? i mean being an out of shape fat toad somehow helps bartolo colon make it through a season, but a skinny athletic guy like edwards is going to collapse from fatigue in july or something? doesn't make sense to me...it's pitching, not bear wrestling.
  6. i think you're gonna be ok. a strasburg CG would have given you two CGs and an 8 ip start for the week.
  7. it's also pretty douchey to be like "ranking baez 7th and lindor 5th instead of the other way around is the worst travesty in history."
  8. everyone must be reading a different twitter than me if you think parks is getting destroyed or whatever by stupid kyle. he likes baez. it's not like he's saying baez is #82 and lindor is #4. if you want to troll someone on twitter over baez, it should be law, not parks. at least law is a prick.
  9. yeah watch your back, guy the front office loves so much they traded for twice, there's a blind 25 year old hitting .180 in AAA about to take your job.
  10. Well dejesus isnt a 12 win player. I doubt the FO is looking at 2014 as a year where they expect to win over 85 or so games. They're probably looking at 2014 as a nice step to average before hoping to take the leap into contention in 2015. i love when people are like, "i wish the cubs were good," and like 20 people respond mockingly with "PFFT HOW DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO PULL THAT OFF???" as if every team that ever won anything in major league history first had to endure 5 seasons of being terrible.
  11. i'd rather they win 92 games next year, personally.
  12. wow, last week was a disaster. i blew a big lead and raw had a big comeback to win. though i think i'm in if i win out because i will have swept raw.
  13. prolly should have walked baez there guy.
  14. i know he was/is blind and stuff, but has a guy ever hit under .200 in a full season of AAA ball at age 24 and ended up being good?
  15. they have a lot more than 6 prospects in the system that could end up becoming great. the system is a lot deeper than that. how much would you like to bet that less than 6 of the cubs prospects end up being great?
  16. good lord every contract COULD suck. OMG WHY CAN'T THERE BE PERFECTLY HEALTHY 24 YEAR OLD STUD FREE AGENTS WILLING TO SIGN LOW RISK SHORT TERM TEAM FRIENDLY CONTRACTS.
  17. I thought it was kind of dickish for law to be like "your team is garbage for the next two seasons" while talking to mcleod though I guess mcleod didn't really argue with him about it...
  18. two seasons are lost so i'm pretty much on board with the "hope our top 6 prospects all pan out" plan because they've kinda painted themselves into that corner. i mean, there's no going back to rescue the last two seasons and now the propsects that could help are getting close. though, man, if baez and bryant and soler are busts...this franchise is in some serious trouble.
  19. two years ago the pirates lost 90 games. now they have one of the best records in baseball. don't know why everyone seems to think it takes 7 years to turn a team around.
  20. so you shouldn't spend big now because then you wouldn't be able to spend big later...but when it's later should you spend big? because what if you want to spend big later later? also, there were more good years between 2005 and 2011 than there have been the last two years, that's for sure.
  21. there's obviously risk in spending big money to get ANY player. just as there is risk in betting on prospects to pan out. i guess the risk in the spending scenario is money, while the risk in the prospects scenario is a terrible team.
  22. he doesn't say "never," i'll give you that. maybe when they're going to try to be good again in 3 years or whatever, they'll be in on a big free agent.
  23. I infer that the quote is referring to throwing millions around in the IFA market and accepting the penalties to "monopolize" that market. I don't really mind if they don't do much on the position player side of things this winter. However, I really want them to add one more potential stud to the pitching staff. Tanaka seems like a perfect fit -- if we can afford him. i infer it to mean exactly what he says...that they aren't going to spend hundreds of millions on free agents. which means they'll never sign an elite free agent (if such a thing even exists anymore), which means boy i hope baez/soler/almora/bryant are good.
