  1. It was obvious that Pujols was lying about his age long before I even knew what plantar fasciitis was. Oh it was, was it? i have this same idiotic argument with a friend. of course, he'll never be proven "wrong" because no evidence will ever come out to the effect of "PUJOLS' STATED AGE PROVEN ACCURATE" so he can say dumb, unfounded [expletive] all the time without worrying about ever being shown to be a fool. he's now doing the same thing with CHRIS DAVIS OBVIOUSLY TAKES ROIDS.
  2. i also think the worst to first turnarounds are more due to the old owners being terrible/extra lazy and the new owners being extra diligent. obviously effort and time devotion is like 85% of succeeding in fantasy baseball.
  3. maybe people have wised up to the "trading draft picks for guys that aren't going to be kept anyway" scheme. i just think it's [expletive] dumb that you can essentially trade guys you don't technically own. it'd be like the cubs trading garza after this season when his contract was up.
  4. those guys (or at least cano) won't be available in the draft. there needs to be a cap on the number of points traded in the offseason so people can't dump a million keepers and recover a bunch of draft picks. might put it in this year. in case people haven't noticed, the rich only get richer under the current system. a contending team trades draft picks/prospects for big league stars. because they are now stocked with a team of stars, they obviously can't keep them all. so they trade them in the post-season for draft picks/prospects (you know, similar to the ones they gave up to get the stars in the first place). thus, the person that obtained the stars midseason lost nothing to rent a star for two months. then, in addition to the remaining stars they do have room to keep, they can supplement their team with the draft picks they traded for and they're awesome again the next year. it seems weird that i have to spell this out, but people seem to have a hard time realizing this is what goes on.
  5. the problem is, tim (or whoever...but let's be honest, tim) won't be able to keep these guys he gets mid season, so he dumps them on some dumb sucker at the end of the year for draft picks, making the risks on these kinds of trades basically nothing. this league is kind of a bummer right now.
  6. there were NO drinking fountains next to the bathrooms like that. they must have taken them out to force me to buy 8 bottled waters.
  7. If you didn't see a drinking fountain, its because you weren't looking for a drinking fountain. i walked the entire concourse and never saw one. maybe i was having a heat stroke.
  8. that's the dumbest [expletive] thing i've ever heard. 0% that stuff about the photo is true.
  9. there is not one water fountain in all of wrigley, as i learned during the 2 hr 45 min rain delay at the pearl jam concert while packed under the concourse in 95 degree heat with 40,000 drunks. will there be a drinking fountain after these renovations? that's all i need to know.
  10. pomeranz was in AA until yesterday.
  11. i took away dempster's start, which i think is more than fair since the typical punishment is taking away the highest scoring start. you got to use the 3 starts you wanted.
  12. edwards and olt both clearly in the top 10. seems pretty obvious that edwards is the cubs' best pitching prospect.
  13. God, Kaplan. Just try to be intelligent, just once. I mean, there is a chance that Mike Olt will turn out to be good. Thus, Bryant would move to the OF. they're not going to move the guy they just spent $6 mil on just in case the blind guy hitting .210 in the PCL figures it out.
  14. theo's gonna want to wrap this up before the pearl jam concert right?
  15. Just trade me Kershaw and then you won't have to make that same decision anymore! very logical.

    Castro

can we be mildly encouraged by castro's .308/.368/.500 july?
  17. yes, three starts this week.
  18. pitchers are actually much cooler than pitching prospects.
  19. That's not a fair comparison since it's not a $$$ for $$$ thing. i'm aware.
  20. so they spent $500k to essentially buy $200k in IFA money. interesting.
  21. stockpiling 16 year olds that have only used a broomstick for a bat is the new market inefficiency.
  22. so [expletive] dumb. that's ending after this season. give me a break. but before that happens, i'm going to create a placeholder for international free agent X signed by, oh, let's say the dodgers in, eh, 2019.
  23. but just think of the prospect haul we can get for Bradley in three years when he's really good.
