  1. carrying three catchers and starting the objectively worst one twice in three games in a huge series is an odd way to go about your business.
  2. tucker barnhart is good at exactly zero things.
  3. you’re not serious about winning baseball games if eric hosmer is your DH. it’s really that simple. if you think eric hosmer should be your DH, you’re bad at evaluating baseball players. if eric hosmer really is your best option at DH, you have put together a bad roster.
  4. barnhart facing a lefty late in a tight game with two guys on base seems like the very exact reason the cubs are carrying three catchers.
  5. naturally 3+ innings of domination from thompson after smyly was inexplicably left out there like 4 batters too long
  6. that is not a bench that screams “we’re trying to be competitive this year, we promise.” of course the lineup doesn’t scream that either…
  7. this roster construction is just laughably bad. suzuki being out is part of it, but my goodness, what a mess.
  8. tonight has really reminded me how much ross sucks. kinda forgot there for a minute.
  9. good thing alzolay pitched two meaningless innings in a loss yesterday so we could extend the drew smyly experience tonight. stunning how bad ross is at knowing when to pull pitchers.
  10. yeah but hoyer is gonna be laughing his unemployed ass off when correa isn’t very good in his age 38 season.
  11. gonna be disappointed if the cubs don’t lose because the pitcher has to bat because the cubs ran out of position players after ross pinch ran villar, who was immediately doubled off, and then didn’t stay in the game.
  12. lol great strategy using villar as a pinch runner there. ross is incompetent.
  13. but maybe heyward’s first 2,800 cub PAs were a mirage. gotta find out for sure.
  14. with the pull shift on, of course
  15. thankfully it’s the heyward/madrigal experience in the bottom half. it’s so hard to be a good offensive team when the bottom your order is just absolute trash.
  16. cubs were probably never gonna be very good, but they sure as horsefeathers aren't gonna be good with hendricks and stroman both being terrible. yikes.
  17. ph for Rivas and let simmons hit. ross is so bad at his job.
  18. was contreras lifted for a pinch runner because he was hurt or because ross is a terrible manager?
  19. ah so he's terrible AND he allowed the human element to impact how he called the game. wish there was a way to make sure that didn't happen...
  20. how the hell did hendricks walk two guys in the first with this clown's strike zone?
  21. can’t believe that in 2022 umps still fall for the “yank the ball 8 inches toward the plate” move. if the catcher moves it THAT much he prob knows it wasn’t a strike dummy.
  22. i think watching zach davies strike out the side is all I need to see of this one
  23. damn did i nail that.
  24. 6.5 games out on May 1st ain’t great fellas
