  1. He was only going to cover one inning. Saving him for the seventh when the Reds would have better hitters due up is not a bad decision. I agree, the morgan over chafin (or wieck, or brothers or scott eyre’s corpse) vs votto decision the other night was far worse than today. leaving a clearly worthless winkler out there as long as he did today was pretty bad though.
  2. two games this series where ross has not used chafin with a lead, but then gone to him when behind/tied. good stuff.
  3. sub-.800 OPS 32 year old 1b with history of lower back problems, what’s not to like. gonna be a long line of teams wanting to pay scott hatteberg $200 mil i’m sure.
  4. another good inning from the “stars.” enjoy your one year prove it deals fellas.
  5. our big 3 FA hitters went k, k, first pitch check swing tapper to the mound against brad brach in the 8th inning of a one run game. go get that money boys.
  6. not sure this a great spot for the cubs’ 4th best LH reliever but ok.
  7. the only reason I’m not anxious for them to hurry up and sell is because the guy in charge of making these deals that will alter the entire franchise for the next 5-8 years has shown himself to be completely inept.
  8. how many times has a team used a position player to pitch because they’re getting stomped in a game that was tied in the 8th inning AND in a game they led by seven runs within three days of each other?
  9. man if I were rex brothers it would drive me insane to know that I cost myself literally millions upon millions of dollars because I couldn’t horsefeathering throw strikes.
  10. Shall I compile a list of teams that have overcome 6 game deficits with half the season to go? I mean I'm not saying the Cubs are a good team primed to crawl back to the division lead, but 6 games over 81 games with the easiest remaining schedule in baseball is not as daunting as you seem to be implying it is. again, they only have 81 games to make it up if they don’t have a fire sale.
  11. two man bench the rest of the game because the dumb ass cubs insist on carrying a billion pitchers. can’t wait for rex brothers to have to hit for himself with the cubs down 10-9 in the 9th.
  12. 15 baserunners = 1 run, and the game ends with the hitless back up catcher leisurely strolling to 1b on a bang bang play. cubs at least find new and interesting ways to horsefeathers up.
  13. lol piece of horsefeathers garbage ass backup catcher with no hits on the season can’t be bothered to run out a two out, 9th inning ground ball.
  14. don’t worry though, they didn’t run out of pitchers
  15. lol please get another horsefeathering position player on this stupid roster assholes.
  16. that’s the trade off you make with davies due to his electric stuff, big velocity and all those strikeouts
  17. yeah because the guy that picked joc over schwarber, traded darvish for 8th graders and signed arrieta is gonna totally kill it trading away baez, rizzo and bryant.
  18. in other news, schwarber homered again. super good offseason, jed. friggin nailed it.
  19. brewers just kind of own the cubs organizationally this year. their good pitchers have the book on the cubs’ hitters, they execute and the cubs can’t/won’t adjust. meanwhile the same brewers hitters just keep killing the cubs.
  20. I’m starting to think that walks by the bullpen are generally bad
  21. aaaand he walks him of course
