  1. You're assuming he'll stay at that level, which isn't a safe assumption. If you can improve an area where you're getting mediocre to poor production, you do it. I'm not saying Cedeno is guaranteed to perform, but it's worth a shot. He has nothing left to prove in the minors. Yeah he should get a shot, i'd be all for a cedeno/theriot SS
  2. That's a prospect chart not a ML one, seriously, whoever can edit this site should add one.
  3. 217/400/217/617 is .400 the obp, i'll take that.
  4. Might, it would be very good situation at SS, so DFA iz and make your SS situation theriot and cedeno.
  5. Hendry gets killed for buying high, for not spending enough, for signing cr*p hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, for trading away future superstars for junk, for hanging on to guys too long, for letting prospects rot, for pushing thier development too fast... If Hendry has done it, he gets killed for it, not always for nothing. Well said! I have mentioned and read possible trade targets and/or deals and everyone of them gets attacked by about half of the posters. Imagine if you were the GM and trying to make the real deals instead of all of us pretending to be the GM. This year looks to be a very bad year to try to make an impact deal at the trading deadline, especially for a right-handed bat. If only Hendry had a young, cheap, RH OF bat that had a full year of good production at the major league level to use from the start of the season, he wouldn't be flummoxed by such a poor market. Well written :D and people wonder why we hate Hendry.
  6. More up to date than cubs.com but still have a few questionable errors (izturis as starter...etc...)
  7. It's possible Floyd could be placed on the DL when the second half begins. And call up either Murton or Cedeno, GREAT, I'm all for either of the two.
  8. I love the logic. Jones is a CFer so he doesn't count. Fantastic. He's played 160+ gemes in CF and 800+ in RF/LF. Jones counts, he doesn't count for much unfortunately, but he counts. I'd get rid of Ward's fat ass in a NY minute if the Cubs could get an 800/900 OPS outfielder to play in RF every day. If they could find one, they might be able to play Pie in CF every day. In my breakdown of roster spots, the Cubs need 2 people who can play CF. That needs to be 2 of Jones/Pie/Pagan. The Cubs don't have enough room to keep all 3 of them when they go to 12 pitchers, and the team has to carry 2 of them. Therefore the fact Jones is on the roster would have absolutely nothing to do with Murton coming up because they would be playing different positions. Jones's purpose on the roster in that scenario would be as either a starting or backup centerfielder, and his ability to play in the corners would have no bearing on him being on the roster. Basically, the Cubs would have to drop 2 players in this scenario. 1 would be for the 12th pitcher, and 1 would be for Murton. 1 of these players is going to be 1 of Jones/Pie/Pagan. Who is going to be the other player? As for dropping Ward, I wouldn't do that for Murton. Ward has been a huge bat off of the bench for the Cubs. What's Ward hitting as a PH.
  9. That vote is mine.
  10. Not sure if this is somewhere else but do we/can we get a REAL ML depth chart on the site, seeing as how the one on the Cubs site sucks and is rarely updated and doesn't tell the truth?
  11. Can i get on the list?
  12. :D ding, you win
  13. Bonds, gotta go with a over 1000 ops
  14. Let me the first to say not really then :D Seriously though, the only day he would have started was Saturday, and Ward was 1 for 3 with a RS, an RBI, and a BB, so I don't think the Cubs really missed Floyd this weekend. They have to find another bat that can hit left-handers well, if that be a big bat that can hit both sides well or a platoon player that kills left-handers. The offense is ok against right-handers (above average, an upgrade could make it great) but it is just terrible against left-handers (under a .300 OBP now against left-handers), and so if the Cubs don't have the resources to get a big bat they at least need to go find a player who only hits left-handers well and get them. Murton hit well against lefties and righties last year, over .300 against lefties
  15. I think this trade would be worth giving up Murton, but I don't see hendry doing it. Still this would work well.
  16. Hendry is too stupid. You should send a letter to the Cubs mailbag about it.
  17. Just to nitpick, but thats .100 points of SLG better then Murton. I'd say thats way better. Not in the limited number of ABs. That is the problem with cherry picking small data sets. It's probably the difference of a double or two. .100 points of slugging over 100 at bats is 10 extra bases, so more like 5 doubles, or 3 doubles and a HR, or however you want to visualize it. Which isn't much at all
  18. Other than the better version of Bo Hart at 2B, a productive second baseman playing the role of a right fielder, a utility guy playing the role of a starting shortstop and a black hole behind the plate, I completely agree. Oh yeah -- and the career minor leaguer masquerading as someone valuable enough to take away time in CF from the legit prospect. Cmon now..Bo Hart? Their ML #s arent even close. Sure you can say hes better but thats a low hurdle for him to compare to. My lineup was the bes t lineup for today.
  19. Perfect lineup for today Soriano LF Fontenot 2B Lee 1B Ramirez3B DeRosa RF Theriot SS Pagan/Pie CF Hill/Bowen C Pitcher
  20. Oh for the love of God don't do it. Its not that bad of an idea. He mainly played RF last year anyway. He's not going to be considerably worse than Cliff. Cliff has somewhat of an arm and Ward has no arm or speed
  21. Raisin should win it all.
  22. http://baseballreference.com
  23. I said send him down. He's not getting regular at-bats, didn't they use that excuse for Murton to send him down.
  24. Oh for the love of God don't do it.
  25. Just to nitpick, but thats .100 points of SLG better then Murton. I'd say thats way better. Pagan is an a slump and in a week or two when it gets too bad Pagan will be sent down of DFA(not sure bout options), regardless Murton will get the call.
