  1. Y'all are getting so upset that Pie doesn't start everyday in CF and Lou said he would. I seem to remeber him saying Murton was the starting Lf and how the team loved Muton and all that but he didn't start in Lf and was soon moved to RF.
  2. Floyd is/was more productive and hitting the ball much better than Murton. What does that have to do with defense? It has a lot to do with my entire post why Murton should not be playing. He elected to take one small part to disagree with instead of the entire post as a whole. I said Floyd and Pagan are better options right now...which they are. Floyd is a better option, temporarily true. Pagan, not true. Note: Pagan is hitting .231 is last ten games. And Floyd is at .250, I,ll take Murton. Do you think it's fair to judge Pagan in his last 10 games? I don't...he's exceeded my expectations this year and has hit the ball pretty well this year. Yes because Pagan will never put up .320 he'll do .280 You go out of your way to point out Pagan is hitting .231 the last 10 games but fail to mention that Murton was hitting .252 in his first 50. Pagan gives you options at all the outfield positions, is a switch hitter, can actually field his position and can run. To sum it up, I'm not saying Pagan's an All-Star or a reliable every day player but he has not done anything to deserve a demotion and Murton has done nothing to prove he's worthy of a promotion or more at bats when he was in Chicago. I'm guessing by your name that your not all at pro-Murton or a little biased. He's my favorite player but I care more about the Cubs then I do Murton or anyone else. The cubs have plenty of OF then they need, we don't need a versatile one. As for speed, obviously Pagan has more, Offense is what we need and Murton gives it to us.

Yes because Pagan will never put up .320 he'll do .280, he's only hitting .275 this whole year, over 100 at bats and a .761 OPS. He looked good for about two seconds then went to his usual self, which isn't bad but not a starter.
  4. Floyd is/was more productive and hitting the ball much better than Murton. Murton's career line is 294/363/441. He's 25 and likely to improve. Floyd's career line is 279/359/485. That's only marginally better if any than Murton. He's 34 and likely to decline. This season, Floyd is hitting 292/363/398 which is lower than Murton's career line. Now in his first 119 AB's, I'll admit Murton struggled. I still think if given equal playing time over the course of a season, Murton would outproduce Floyd both offensively and defensively. Murton may or may not be the answer in rightfield for the Cubs, but he's as good if not better than what we've been using in that spot. I like Pagan more right now. He's been hitting the ball fairly well this year and covers ground in the outfield. One thing I don't understand is why some on this site are so impatient and want a winner now yet feel they should continue to let Murton play himself out of this horrible slump he's in. If he's not hitting the ball and getting on base (which he hasn't done this year) he brings absolutely nothing to the team. See my above post and rethink your idea on Pagan, you've got the speed right though.
  5. They'll likely just show his lack of ability if they do that.
  6. Is he realistic, if so I'll take him :?: :!: :!:

  8. Agreed. Barrett is better offensively than what we're getting and is just a notch below defensively. Trade for Barrett.
  9. How 'bout some sort of combo where the Yanks get Z and we get A-Rod. And as for Floyd's age, if Torre had it his way everyone on the team would be over 40. The Gardner kid is the fastest person in all of MLB and MiLB.
  10. I agree to an extent but still, Dempster might not be a starter, the trade may include one.
  11. A-Rod isn't out of the question, but he ain't ready to pack his bags yet. The Yankees would likely require a decent third baseman to take his place and at least one young player and one vet Proposal: We get: A-rod and Brett Gardner Yanks get: Cedeno, R. Hill and Scott Moore and Floyd
  12. From what I've understood, he's starting every day in right. Yes he is playing everyday in right since Lou sees his future there due to Sori in left. Stats: .282 .328 .437 .815(BA, Obp, Slg, Ops) and a steal, one homer and 8 rbi, not sure on defense.[/code]
  13. Murton can be decent almost anywhere given practice, he is athletic enough. Problem is his arm is well below average. Any plans on Sori to right and Murt back to Left? Fixed Thank You
  14. Marshall for Escobar? Then bring up either Guzman or Gallagher to start? I think I would like that. I'd hope we could enlarge the deal a bit. Marshall + Izturis + cash for Escobar and Reyes or Ascanio. You think Izturis could pull in Ascanio or Reyes? I like both (especially Reyes) but I really doubt Izzy would pull either of them. Throw in Jones, forget Reyes and add Saltalamacchia(spelling?) Why don't we demand they throw in Chuck James while we're at it. I'm sure Koyie Hill would more than make up the difference. Good idea

  16. If he were to help push us into the playoffs and hopefully further, I'm sure you could find it in your heart to forgive him. :D I couldn't, he clearly wasn't thrown at, he got our starter ejected for no good reason and then punches Fontenot in the jaw. No to Edgar.

  18. it all comes back to the pointless Cliff Floyd signing. floyd has been pretty good. He won Tuesday's game for us. Floyd has a .770 OPS. If Murton isn't juggled around and had regular playing time, I'm confident he could outdo that. With relative ease.
  19. Why has Josh Vitters yet to sign. Is he not sure about the Cubs or what?
  20. IDK his true skills but i've seen him make quality plays better than Izzy and izzy has a gold glove, that's what i'm going off of You are going off Izzy winning a Gold Glove? HAHAHA you realize the Gold Glove is the most meaningless award in baseball right? Not to mention he's trying to compare this version of Izturis, who has been through a serious arm injury and leg injuries that it's pretty obvious he hasn't recovered from. He simply is not the same defensive player as the one who won the Gold Glove, and is probably barely average defensively this year, which is what Theriot is also. I wasn't aware of the injuries, i drop my argument.
  21. The problem wit this lineup is it has Fontenot as SS, he is a second baseman and can't play short.
  22. Back to your jokes again? The gold glove part yes but Theriot is as good as Cedeno and has shown inconsistent brilliance at second and short but the gold glove is a joke. wrong. Theriot never put up the numbers in AAA that Cedeno is putting up at a much younger age. Inconsistent brilliance? Right whatever man I'm talking about glove work.
