  1. honestly, are cedeno's supposed bunting/baserunning deficiencies really that important? cedeno's a better defender, and i would think that would more than make up for any bunting/running differences. and if you'll remember the early part of this season, theriot was a butcher in the OF...plus, a shortage of guys who can play the OF is the least of the cubs' concerns. I agree of's aren't necessary but the defense argument won't get you far, Theriot can play close to gold glove D and proved it today.
  2. I never said Theriot was great. You said he's going to be a .320/.400 guy. That's pretty terrific. that's good, and anything is possible, he could do it once but not regularly.
  3. I never said Theriot was great.
  4. Sorry but overall this season Young deserves it. I guess that means a Padres board has started a Punch Derrek Lee campaign. :?: :?: :?: Let me explain. You see, there was this game between the Cubs and the Padres, and Derrek Lee (he plays for the Cubs) was batting against Chris Young. Mr. Young hit Mr. Lee with a pitch, and Mr. Lee took umbrage with Mr. Young. Mister Young said something not nice to Mr. Lee, and Mr. Lee attempted to punch Mr. Young. At that point, Mr. Young tried to Punch Derrek Lee. Well put, thank you. I think 'umbrage' just became one of my new favorite words. I am aware of that game but what does that have to do with Z and Young in the all-star game. Young deserves it regardless of the fight with DLee.
  5. +1 Nope just a long joke, I stand by my opinion on Murt, and as for Theriot, he can still make it as a starter just not a good one a decent one.

  8. I think it was kinda obvious i was joking all along, Marshall is a good pitcher, but nowhere near Z. I think it is funny how much you all really got into this argument. whatever kid...don't try to back down now. No. i'm serious now, do you really think anyone could possibly truly believe Marshall is better, and no i'm not racist.
  9. .320, .400, in BA and OBP That's just frigging laughable. The highest batting average Theriot has ever put up at any level (AA in this case) over a full season is .304. The highest OBP? .367 in high A ball. So what in the blue hell is going to make a 27 year old suddenly become a .400 OBP guy in the majors when he didn't even come close to that in the minors? Murton won't do it either, but I'm not willing to laugh you out of the building for suggesting that. Yes it is, it's a joke, Theriot will be a decent starter at best.
  10. You are correct, GR, but I believe Raisin's first sentence was directed at everyone. Yes, since murton1 is newer I thought I'd point out the link and his two posts that violated rules. But the rules go for everyone and murton1 wasn't the only one violating them. I didn't realize I was. I won't do that again. And no Murt and Theriot are nowhere near each other in skill or potential. Most everything I've posted has been a joke, now I get serious.

  12. I said he's my favorite, and he is good he just needs more playing time, something cedeno had plenty of last year and still sucked while murt led the team in BA Yeah, and then Murt completely blew during 2007 in the majors. Why does he get room for aches and pains and Cedeno doesn't? And honestly, how good do you think Theriot and Murton can be? I wanna hear this. good to close to great starters, neither will be great. i never made the aches argument for Murt. What in the blue hell has Theriot done to make you think that? Murton I can understand, kinda. Theriot though. Tell me why he's going to be anything more than a decent utility player. Tell me why he didn't get a regular stay in the majors until his age 27 season. Bad scouting, good hitting gives me the idea that and speed and D

  15. you mean idiotic, more proof of your lack of intelligence. No, I had it right the first time. if you were trying to insult me you should've said poster or user But that would be breaking forum rules, so I just insulted the post. aha but now your admitting insulting me, you just broke the rules. not that i care, insult me all day long.

  18. That's not a fact. Not even close. ah so you're trying to say theriot isn't a ml'er. my you're dumb
  19. you mean idiotic, more proof of your lack of intelligence.
  20. No not at all. K, here's where you try to make an argument to defend that instead of just saying it. After you make it, I'll respond by tearing it apart with common sense. Three years is just that, not 10 years or 6. 3, a very small diff. and the fact that TheRiot is a major leaguer speaks alot.
  21. 2006 WHIP Zambrano: 1.29 Marshall: 1.52 Career WHIP Zambrano: 1.28 Marshall: 1.44 Marshall still holds the edge for 2007 based on a few nice starts, but that margin is closing fast and will probably disappear within the next 2 starts Still, Z led the league in walks. Doesn't say much for him and those whip is mostly hits for Marshall and walks for Z. Z's control doesn't look to improve but Marshall's "stuff" does. And even if Zambrano doesn't improve his control, he's still a better pitcher than Marshall. Even with Zambrano's control issues, he's still had those awesome seasons. Even with what you call great control by Marshall, his best would be the worst full season Zambrano has seen in 5 years! And when Marshall has those 5 years of experience we'll see whose better. All we're doing now is debating without fair statistical comparison. But in a lot of ways we are. We can compare each player to the other at the same age. When Zambrano was Marshall's age, he was dominating major league hitters. I'm trying to take you seriously, but it's laughable to think Marshall is now or ever will reach the level of pitching that Zambrano has achieved. I'm not asking you to agree with me i'm just giving my opinion, and on paper Marshall deserves all star more than Z. Well, Zambrano may not have deserved the ASG. That's debateable. But Marshall's 8 starts of 3.50 ERA doesn't make him all-star worthy in any shape or form...and in now way makes him a better pitcher now, in the past, or in the future than Zambrano. If you were using hyperbole to state your love for Marshall, you should have dropped the inane arguments a long time ago. Because if you think Marshall really is better than Zambrano, I'm having trouble wondering if this is the first year you've actually followed baseball. No, it's not. Then you should observe things a little more closely. Marshall is in no way the pitcher Zambrano is. or you could stop getting so worried about my knowledge and worry about yours Or I could just laugh at the fact that someone thinks Marshall is better than Zambrano. go ahead laughter is good for you, maybe it'll make you smarter
  22. No not at all.
