  1. Trigger on this trade? No way. Trigger on the gun if we did this trade? Perhaps. ...only kidding...
  2. That actually is a pretty good deal for all teams involved. It will never happen, haha, but it still looks like a good deal for all teams. O's get quality back for trading Tejada (also give up Mora) and the BoSox get good quality back for getting rid of Manny. I hate losing Aram but Youkilis aint a bad player and Tejada and Manny's offense would make up for it. I think the BoSox should be sending us some cash though.
  3. You're kidding, right? Just in case you misinterpreted the above, it's suppose to be collectively not separately. And that's not just offense. I'm talking offense, defense, speed, and overall intagibles. In particular Cedeno. The dimension he were to add is much more important to THIS team than what Cabrera would. REALLY? What demension is that? He isn't particularly fast and his offense is nowhere near Cabreras. It's a joke to even compare the two.
  4. Then what is the type of hitter we need? The guy had a .385 OBP and a .561 SLG and he is just gonna get better. First of all, why does it matter that he's a good hitter? I understand what you mean by Hendry looking stupid for trading Dontrelle and then trading back for him, but I don't think he'd look like a fool at all. If he convinced Florida to do this, I would think he would look like a genious.
  5. I would do it in a second if I was the Cubs, but like you said, Florida would never do it anyways.
  6. I really doubt Florida wants to trade Cabrera or Dontrelle.
  7. How can we have a worse OF than last year? Murton is an upgrade over playing most the season with Dubois/Holla and Pierre is a big upgrade over Patterson/Hairston and last year we had Burnitz and his average numbers in RF. We will get a RF at least as good, hopefully much better, than Burnitz. So we will have upgraded every OF spot this offseason. No way can it be worse than last year....
  8. Tickets are on sale today. Anyone going?
  9. Well i dont advocate trading for Tejada and then not getting a RF. I just think that if you get a Miguel Tejada at SS (.350/.500) then you can afford to get someone like Milton Bradley or Cliff Floyd and that would be enough offense to have a decent shot at the playoffs/WS. I don't think you can, however, just trade for Milton Bradley and go into the season with that lineup.
  10. There is an clause that is kicked in, automatically (see Javier Vazquez) that allows a player the "right to demand a trade" if he is dealt in the middle of a multi-year contract. So yes, Tejada has that right now, if he is dealt. Well being able to demand a trade and opting out are two separate issues. I would see why Tejada would want to opt out of his contract (more money) but i dont see any reason to demand a trade from the Cubs.
  11. Not too big at all on Pavano. Hasn't he had a lot of injury problems? And besides, he's not really all that great anyways.
  12. I would for sure do that but I think it's going to cost you a little bit more. I'd guess it would take something like Cedeno, Pie, and Hill. Something that would be hard for me to do as Jim Hendry, but I would probably do it. I'm not too convinced by Hill and I can see Pie not turning out as well as we want.
  13. $48/4 to play for the cards vs $55/5 for the blue jays? That would be an incredibly easy choice for me Fixed That would be a much tougher choice since i don't want to move to canada. not sure why you "fixed" that, anyway I'm thinking he isn't realizing the reason you said Cubs was because you grew up a Cubs fan and Burnett grew up a Cards fan, so you were relating Burnett's opportunity to play for his favorite team to what would be your opportunity to play for your favorite team (Cubs).
  14. Houston is being aggressive about getting Abreu. Brandon Backe was mentioned. Toronto and Vernon Wells and Boston and Trot Nixon/Matt Clement were also talked about for Abreu.
  15. I doubt it, but if it were possible, I'd be all over that.
  16. man the insanity just doesn't stop in LA. What's next....sign Kobe Bryant to play LF? I like Billy Mueller a lot...but as a first baseman? Hmmm..... Oh yeah, anyone know what they plan on doing with Izturis?
  17. Maddux has been in the league long enough that any trade involving him requires his consultation and approval. Anyways, I believe he does have a NTC.
  18. Thanks. I've been reading for a long time, just never posted. That's not the lineup I want, but I think it's very realistic. I can just see Baker starting Neifi 140 games at 2B and playing Hollandsworth...err...Mabry wayyy too much. I think we're all gonna be sick if we have to endure that again. To get Jones I guess you'd have to commit to 3 years, so maybe it rules him out. Hopefully. Hopefully is right. I'd stay as far away from him and his career .327 obp/.782 ops as much as possible.
  19. That's exactly what I've been saying. I'd much rather not have Furcal. LA is stupid.
  20. Believe me... I have a whirlwind of thoughts happening right now. Would LA take Maddux, Patterson and, say Hill for Lowe and Bradley? Even money and they get a prospect and get out of Bradley. I say yes. So, then we turn and deal Lowe, Mitre, and someone like Dopirak/Sing etc to the Phillies for Abreu. Add something else if necessary, but get it done. That gives us an infield of Lee, Walker, Cedeno, and ARam. And, an OF of Abreu, Bradley, and Murton. Bat them: Bradley, Walker, Lee, Abreu, ARam, Murton, Barrett, Cedeno. Our starting pitchers would be Z, Prior, Burnett, Rusch, and Williams. It keeps StL from adding Burnett, and only adds 15 Million or so to our payroll. Where can I sign up? Improve LF, CF, RF, SS, SP, RP from last year's team. I don't think LA will want Maddux and I'm not sure if that package would be enough to get Abreu anyways. However, from the Cub's perspective, it looks great.
  21. Its okay, id rather not have Furcal anyways.
