  1. hahaha
  2. Hmm, I'd be surprised if more than one of those deals goes down. Those three teams don't have the wants the sellers desire, so they would really have to sell low for any of those to go down. Huh? Minnesota and Detroit definitely have enough to get a deal done. As do the Yankees, if they wanted to trade Hughes and/or Tabata.
  3. why's that? What happens if you're in an NL only league and these guys are on your team? Are you just screwed or do you get to keep playing them?
  4. It's nothing like that. Being a great hitting catcher makes that player more valuable because they are more rare. I agree. Being a great hitter makes you valuable, but being a great hitter at a tough postition to find hitting at (i.e. Catcher, 2b, SS) makes you MUCH MORE valuable.
  5. Humberto Sanchez then to Washington. Who goes to Milwaukee from Minnesota? Slowey? Garza? Moses? I have a feeling it will only be Austin Jackson and a low level pitching prospect from the Yanks to Philly for Abreu. It should be at least Hughes and/or Tabata, though. And what deal are the Red Sox trying to get involved in??
  6. Need just 2 more teams. Draft will begin once the league is full.
  7. While Ramirez isn't a FA, he does have the opt out clause. Yeah I know, but any team trading for him could theoretically work out something to get a guarantee from Ramirez that he would waive that option. At least the option of it not being only a 2 month rental is greater with Ramirez than it is with Lee and Soriano. No, actually it's worse because if Lee or Soriano tear up a knee or something in September you aren't obligated for future years. Ramirez's option is his option - he exercises it if he thinks he can do better, the team is still obligated if he doesn't. That makes some sense, but when youre trading top prospects for players, you would want them to be around for more than a couple months. If you don't agree with that, then we just have to agree to disagree.

  9. Also, what does Lee and Soriano have to do with it? Aramis is younger, plays a different position, and he isn't a FA after this season. That alone, sets them apart. Ramirez has also been better than both over the past 3 years. Yeah, there being more supply will lower Aramis's demand, but not to the point where you settle for McPherson, Aybar, and a throw-in pitching prospect.
  10. McPherson, Aybar, and a pitcher like Amalio Diaz would be a pretty good package for ARam IMO. McPherson is 26 but he's got some pop and hits left-handed. He'll probably never put up a great average, but his offensive production would most likely be similar to ARam. Aybar is tearing up AAA and he's still only 22. It appears as though his defense isn't too stellar but a middle IF of Cedeno and Aybar would get to a ton a groundballs most teams couldn't, which will help with some of our groundball pitchers. A minor league pitcher on top of that is gravy. I think you are undervaluing Ramirez or overvaluing those particular prospects. I don't see McPherson ever being anything close to Aramis. His .284 OBP at AAA this year isn't too promising. Aybar is having a nice season so far, but I'm not sold on him. McPherson has been injured and his numbers at AAA aren't fair to evaluate him by. He's played a total for 36 games there and I believe it's been split between 2 rehab assignments. He's averaged a line of .308/.393/.575/.968 while he's been in the minors and he's got a boatload of power (total of 43 homers in 04). He's struggled with injuries but he's got excellent potential. Aybar might not be spectacular, but he's got better plate discipline than Ronny and more power. If nothing else, he's a pretty good trading chip if we decide that we don't want him anymore. I think that you may be overvaluing Ramirez. 2 ML-ready prospects plus another young pitcher is pretty good for someone that can void out of their contract at the end of this season. He's hot right now but he's also streaky, I don't see us getting a couple of top prospects for him with other offensive players like Lee and Soriano out there. I know about McPherson. He's had a few opportunities to win the 3B job for Anaheim and hasn't been able to do it. He has put up good minor leauge numbers in the past, but I just don't see him as a good option at 3b for the future. He's had a few injuries and back problems are tough to make disappear forever. I would probably agree that Aybar is a better prospect than Cedeno...but that's not saying much. I realize Aramis can void out of his contract, but I think Hendry has a good idea on whether or not he intends to use that option. If JH thinks Aramis will use that option, then by all means, trade him. I just don't think you should trade our best hitter (who puts up a .850+ OPS in a down year) for a 26 year old injury prone 3b who has proved absolutely nothing in the majors, a MI slightly better than Cedeno, and some throw-in pitcher. Sorry, I just fail to see how that improves the 2007 Chicago Cubs baseball team.

  12. Well Gallardo being the 122nd best pitching prospect leads me to believe it was prior to the start of the season. However, there's no way Tabata, Hughes, Pence, Brignac, H. Sanchez, Iannetta, and many others are that high before the season. So I guess it's probably pretty recent and they just really messed up on a lot of players. Also, where's Ian Stewart? No matter how you look at it, this list is pretty bad.
  13. Ah, but Aramis is ON FIRE. If Stoneman is looking for a player to help propel him to the playoffs this year, Aramis may be the guy, so Stoneman might be willing to part with a little more. I agree that we shouldn't trade Aramis for anything less than a sure bet, ML-ready type prospect that can put up majorly good numbers. I know Aramis had a bad start to the year, but he's put up solid numbers over the season thus far. 23 HR and 66 RBI to go along with a .856 OPS is pretty good. Aramis would get us at least a top prospect like Kendrick or Wood and probably another lesser prospect like Mathis.
  14. Me neither...it looks pretty off. Jeremy Sowers 6th OVERALL? Josh Fields and Andy LaRoche ahead of Troy Tulowitzki and Billy Butler? Scott Elbert and Matt Garza below guys like Mark Rogers, Elijah Dukes, and Chris Volstad? Yovanni Gallardo 122nd ranked pitcher??? Really bizarre list if you ask me...
  15. Woohoo! That's me.
  16. he's a FA at the end of the year. There's a chance that whoever gets him (if he's traded-which I don't expect him to bet) will have the upper-hand on resigning him, but I wouldn't give up much of anything to get him.
  17. Hopefully only 60 or so. I'd like a top 3 pick.
  18. i'm not big on aybar. exchange aybar for laroche and then i'd probably be interested.
  19. I'm a Dolphins fan so I'm probably being a homer, but I like Daunte a lot better than McNabb (fantasy-wise at least). Daunte is good at finding the TE and McMichael is a pretty solid TE. Chambers broke out last year and is a top 10 WR in the leauge and his ability to go get the long ball is there but wasn't used much with the former QBs, Ronnie Brown is a good pass catching RB and Marty Booker is a good #2 option. Daunte should have a great year. I also don't understand how people are blowing up Daunte's injury into a huge deal but discounting it with Palmer. They had just about the same injury except Palmer's was a couple months later.
  20. If you get bleacher tickets you can sit in the back row in left-center field and lean back against the wall there. We did that last time because we didn't get there early enough to get in the first few rows. There isn't much difference between sitting there and sitting in any other row in the bleachers. Just a suggestion if your husband has a bad back. Also check frequently on cubs.com for tickets. They usually release extra seats a few weeks in advance.
  21. yeah WHY NOT? i just wanna trade him somewhere... good player, etc. but... would like someone else... Because Oakland would never even consider it.
  22. Well Liriano is going to pitch way more this year than he has in his career, so it's possible that he will wear down. I don't think he will, but with all that pitching you have, there's no reason to downgrade at 3b and lose a stud OF to take the chance he won't. I'd much rather have Wright and Dye, especially considering all the pitching you already have.
  23. Judging by the pic he posted in the pic thread, he could just be busy. Haha, I just checked out that pic. If thats the case, I don't blame him.
  24. Is IMB dead?
  25. Who is he "calling out?" Possibly he meant to call out no one. Taken alone it seems like hes calling out the whole damn team. Lets just hope the team knows who he is actually calling or not calling out here. Don't believe everything you read in newspapers.
