  1. Im surprised that Prior doesnt get more hate. The guy wasted 3 1/2 years of our time, and then wouldnt sign for less when the time came. He got pissed t the team at the begining of last season when he didnt make the opening day roster, and then proceeded not to pitch at all. And if you're going to go strictly by performance, I might have to add Mark Guthrie, Antonio Alfonseca, and of course Alex "If it werent for Steve Bartman grabbing for a ball that an aging Moises Alou never would have caught anyway, Id be more hated than Bill Buckner" Gonzales.
  2. Why not not send Murton to Minnesota for Lahey? They can use all the help they can get.
  3. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080326&content_id=2459674&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc The way I see it, they have to be out of options on Murton by now, and even if they're not, he deserves an MLB job. A few teams have expressed interest, so its time to cut a deal. Also, the problem could fix itself. Just trade Murton for Lahey, and call it a day.

  5. Looking at his stats, they dont look much different than Matt Murtons if he were to play full time.
  6. of the past 5 years
  7. That's exactly what's going to happen. Since everyone knows this to be true, why are the Cubs even wasting their time? Probably because they want to be good guys and at least give Demp a shot at it. If they want to be good guys, they can go through the make a wish foundation and give some dying kid a chance at the rotation. If they want to win games, they should keep Dempster out of the rotation.
  8. There was this one guy. I suppose he did OK. I think his name was LOU BROCK or something like that.
  9. We all know the jason Marquis story. Starts off strong, and begins to fade before completely falling abart around late July. However, the problem is, we dont know much at all about the Ryan Dempster story, as far as starting is concerned. Yet Lou has long since reserved a spot for Demp in the rotation, yet Marquis is likely to be traded or end up in the Pen. While its just Spring, Marquis has looked great, and Demp has looked very good at times, but very shakey at times. While I dont trust either all that much, I trust Marquis, whose at least a proven innings eater over Dempster who has been known to come in, quickly load the baes, and sometimes get out of it, and sometimes not, and if and if Marquis starts to fade when he usually does find a replacement.
  10. By bringing in the fat man, Lou was essentially saying screw this, I have plans tonight.
  11. You'll always have 2005 Neil.
  12. Looks like that Lahey guy may be on his way back to Minnesota or wherever.
  13. Hill will have a spot on the rotation, but if he continues to pitch like he has so far, he may not keep it.
  14. That can't be good for the 'ole trade value.
  15. I say give Piggy a shot before going out and getting something we dont really need.
  16. His value is probably higher right now than it will be at any later point. He has had a great spring, had a great first half last year, and there are a lot of teams out there who need a starter to at least start the season, due to injuries. The further things go along, the lower his trade value is going to get, IMO. The problem is, in the end, I trust Marquis over Demptser. Sure, they both look good in ST, but that doesnt mean much. Marquis at least has a track record of being good the first half of the season, but Demp doesnt even have that. Remember all the 9th inning near heart attacks Demp has caused? Can anyone really take 5 or 6 innings of that?
  17. Keep him in the rotation and trade him just before the all star break.
  18. Who the hell is "Thomas"? hes our DH today, yet theres nobody on the roster, or any invitees by that name.
  19. never mind, career minor leaguer Les Walrond bailed him out.
  20. Demptser, but looking at MLB scoreboard, Gallagher is about to drop his trade value once again.
  21. Taking on his $4.5MM salary is the key phrase here. Any team that would take on a player the calibur of Uribe for $4.5MM isnt thinking stright, especially if its one in a major rebuilding phase.
  22. Didnt he grow up in Venezuela? Most people Havent even heard of the White Sox south of Indianapolis.
  23. Isnt there some kind of clause that he has to at least make the roster to collect, or did they basically give him free money?
  24. and so it begins.
