I thought it was a dumb move at the time, and I think Hendry was just in a rush to get the deal done and caved. I was always a fan of Pinto, and Nolasco, even back when he was plain old Carlos Nolasco. Also, the fact that we had Zambrano, the orgnization was very high on Hill and Guzman, and still thought Prior was going to return to form was a big factor in the deal. At the time, Pierre was one of the premier leadoff men in the league, and we probably planned on signing him to a long term deal. Not a great move, but not one that will exactly be lamented years down the road.
