  1. Pretty decent in June and July isnt enough to beat Zambrano.
  2. I think we could probably land Burnett and Eckstein as a package for cheap. If Doug Melvins mart, hed trade JJ Hardy for those 2. Maybe throw in a mid level prospect and land a decent reliever in the process. Hardy isnt going to stay this hot forever, and Eckstein can play SS for them until Escobars ready.
  3. That's assuming that Harden ends up a Cub long term. I'm usually pretty confident in the Cubs keeping our good free agents around. Aren't you? At the very least, we should have him through 09 and be able to get a better gauge on his health situation. Of course, I suppose that (keeping him around) depends on who winds up owning the team. Is the 2009 option a player, team, or mutual?
  4. I kind of like both 2 and 3, as Ive never really seen either. everyone and their mom has cap 1, soI wouldnt go with that 1. I recently got a 1934 Cap, which looks oddly like an Indians hat, but I like it. http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-1752852dt.jpg
  5. That's assuming that Harden ends up a Cub long term.
  6. He doesnt look any better or worse than Ronny, just older. Had Ronny been a piece of the Harden deal, Id say pick up up until something better comes along, but since he wasnt, it doesnt look like we have much use for him.
  7. I wish Gally and Murton plenty of success. Just not so much that we end up looking stupid.
  8. Im not asking for the most impactful, which one of these trades was the most exciting at the time.
  9. The question is, is there really an available rent-a-bat off the bench that would be any better than Hoffpauir? I don't know, and I don't really think the Cubs need one; I just think that would be MORE helpful than another reliever (even without one they'll soon need to send down someone like Cotts or Wuertz). I actually wouldn't mind it the Cubs just stood pat now. They've made the needed improvements. Agreed 100%. Theres no need for another Monroe, no matter how cheap it may be,
  10. there was a time when you would have no mercy on a post like this. you've changed man.
  11. Dusty did lead us the closest to the promised land since 1945. Its just too bad he went mad afterword.
  12. One thing about Jim, he doesnt make a lot of bad trades. Maybe the Dontrelle Willis and Juan Pierre trades, but thats about it. AND I just found out the Kevin Hart was a PTBNL for Boom Boom Bynum.
  13. The question is, is there really an available rent-a-bat off the bench that would be any better than Hoffpauir? Barry Lamar Bonds. Well, if it comes down to it, Barry would be one hell of a secret wepon off the bench. Granted, it would be a $10million weapon off the bench, despite the Barry would play for free mumbo jumbo, but wed also have a nice DH for the WS.
  14. I still think Hoffpauir is more likely. If Soriano wasn't close to coming back they might think about adding a RH hitter like Dubois to the 40 man but if he is going to be back right after the all star break it would be a waste to add someone just to sit on the bench for a few games. I agree it will probably be Hoffpauir even though it makes the bench a bit LH heavy. My guess is Hoffpauir in, Marshall (unfortunately) out for now. When Eyre comes back most likely Wuertz goes down since Lou seems to like having two lefties in the pen. When Soriano comes back Hoffpauir goes back down. Even if Marquis struggles Gaudin probably gets a shot at his rotation spot before Marshall with Marquis going to the bullpen unless they can find someone to dump him on. Hendry just doesn't have a history of DFA'ing guys who still have significant money left on their contracts. I agree, I just hate when a player does everything he can to earn a roster spot, but loses out to a lesser player simply because their already being paid.
  15. Heres a few posts from that site.
  16. The question is, is there really an available rent-a-bat off the bench that would be any better than Hoffpauir?
  17. I still think Hoffpauir is more likely. As everyone knows, and Ive been ridiculed for, Id love Hoffpauir back on a permanant basis, but Im thinking they'll probably go for a righty. Much like Murton, Hoffs only hope at major league career is a trade.
  18. His 1.33 WHIP, 2.70 ERA, and 166 ERA+ beg to differ with the definition of "good". Honestly, when Eyre comes back, it should be one of Eyre/Cotts/Lieber that's most likely gone. Howry, anyone? Im going with Marshall for now, but if Marquis goes back to his usual 2nd half shennanigans,Marshall will be back in no time.
  19. The Creature with another home run tonight, and hes OPSing 1.146. I know weve been there, done that, but unless they opt to go with an extra pitcher, he could be a prime replacement for Murton until Soriano gets back. After the trade, there is an extra spot open on the 40 man.
  20. Aren't you forgetting the 9 extra inning games they've played ?? I cant imagine we would have a lead after 9 in an extra inning game.
  21. Is Howry looking for a Billy Wagneresque save here?
  22. He hasn't pitched since Saturday. He could dust some rust off too. I doubt it though. Wuertz hasn't pitched in 2 1/2 months, how bout we get him some work? No lead is safe from his 2.70 ERA. Lous doghouse is not an easy one to pull out of.
  23. Yea his .394 OBP is totally reminicent of past Cubs players. And you're going on ignore. Thank god for that feature. Added him a long time ago. Kind of the Junior High version of ignoring someone, where rather than ignore them, you talk about ignoring them. Interesting that you seem to know so much about Junior High behaviour, no? HORNKOHLNED I happened to be in Junior High once upon a time, yes? How about you? Did you just skip from grammar school all the way to pompus schmuck? Attack the argument, not the poster. I do think it's tactless to tell someone they're getting ignored, though, as if the ignored party is supposed to run away and cry. Yes, and I frankly don't feel that LLF deserves the crap he gets on this board. Fine to disagree, but very little has been out of line. There are plenty of people far more inflamatory. What's the deal? 2nd in line when CubsGM isnt around  Give me a break today. I was the 1st to post the Harden rumor. Well you beat me to that avatar, so its on now.
