  1. Take a way the B and the K, and youve got what the Cubs are making Backe look like the last 3 innings. Looks like Demps on his own the rest of the way. God speed old friend.
  2. Sorry, I know its tabu to wish such a thing, but when your out in mid summer Houston in a giant puma outfit, its your own damn fault.
  3. I really want the puma people to suffer heat stroke.
  4. So wait, whose dugout will Durham be in today? Can he pinch hit for The Brewers or The Giants? Has to be kind of an awkword situation for him if the trade isnt quite official, but done for all practical purposes, and hes in uniform in The Giants dugout cheering on the Brewers.
  5. Durham and Taschner wouldnt worry me. Cain would, however, I dont see San Fran moving him.
  6. Dont be these guys. http://img.shopsafe.com/shop/teamfanatics_com/thumbs/2006_chicago_cubs_team_composite_plaque_teamfanatics_com_sm.jpg
  7. Cubs 57-0 when they score more runs than the other team 0-40 when they dont. Brandon Backe is a pitcher that The Cubs should be able to score more runs against than Ryan Dempster should give up. Then again, so were Moehler and Rodriguez. Go Cobs!
  8. Missing: 7/20 Game Thread. If you think you may have spotted the 7/20 Game Thread, please call (800)555-1234. All callers will remain anonymous.
  9. All of the big contract guys have NTCs, so a fire sales out of the question.
  10. I can just see Lou breaking his foot kicking the UMP-Bot 5000 after a called strike 3 on Ronny Cedeno.
  11. After watching both versions recently, and both are fresh in my mind, Im going to go with Jack. Granted, when I first heard about Heath playing the Joker, I thought it to be the biggest mis cast in history, but he did prove me wrong. He did quite a job as a darker Joker, but Jack is just the master.
  12. Soriano will lead off when he comes back. Lou likes him at the top of the lineup, and he likes being there. We all know that Soriano likes it there, and Lou likes him there. The question is, is it the best thing for the team. A good leadoff hitter should be a guy who takes walks and slaps singles. I know the whole cliche about the leadoff hiter may only leadoff in the first inning, but when you have a guy capable of what Soriano is, he should be at the plate with a few guys on. I agree with you, and in a perfect world he'd be there. But, I'm sure there will be no shortage of people here soon trotting out Soriano's career stats when not batting leadoff, and they're not very good. It's a total mental thing with him. If he's not at the top of the order, he sucks. too bad. Theriot DeRosa(vs RHP)/Johnson(vs. LHP) Lee/Soriano Ramirez Soriano/Lee Soto Edmonds(vs RHP)/DeRosa(vs LHP) Fukuome looks so pretty on paper, doesnt it.

  14. The big thing is the lack of production from the heart of the order. Theriot has been a solid leadoff hitter, but if only we could find a solid number 5 hitter, and find a way to keep Theriot in the 1 spot. Hmm...
  15. An ancient prophecy predicts that in 5 days and 6 nights, a chosen one will return and restore greatness to the once mighty kingdom.
  16. If we can come back tommorow, and then end this little road trip 3-3, all will be well. Remember, the Cards and Brewers arent exactly the '98 Yankees, and will go through their own rough patches.
  17. If I had known that last Saturday was going to be the last win of the season, I would have spent more time enjoying it, and less time condemning Marmol for his piss poor performance.
  18. Yup. That sound you hear is the bottom falling out. Seriously? It's TWO games. Two games that are continuing some very clear and worrisome trends. 3 games. And they havnt been hard luck loses with bad calls, they've been flat out terrible baseball.
  19. 4 runs in the last 3 games for the Cobs. They cant still be leading the league in runs, can they?
  20. Someone had to do something. Like I said, he should be hitting 7th with Fukudome and Cedeno in the lineup.
  21. Seems like the last 3 innings, Z has decided he wants to win. Unfortunately, the offense has had other plans.
