  1. I dont know what I find more amusing, the fact that this was posted or the fact that the "rational" members of the board have allowed it to grow to 2 pages.
  2. Im actually interested as to who the Brewers send down to put Suppan back on the roster. Stetters the obvious, but hes probably been one of the better reliever for them. There was talk of Mota being DFAd a little while back.
  3. That's my first reaction, they just took 2 of 3 from the Cubs, that means they have a chance. :good: The Astros have to rely on the 3 best teams in the NL to all collapse and collapse hard, and they themselves have to go on a nice little run. I think its pretty safe to say they're done.
  4. Havnt been a lot of Theriot haters since like May, so um, yeah.
  5. Honestly, with all the talk about picking up all of these has beens, why not just go all out and pick up Bonds? Hes said he'll play for league min. Unless, of course hes been blacklisted.
  6. I have some confidence the Cards will hit a rough patch. The Brewers though? I'm not so sure. They may have a streak of 10 games where they only win 5, or something like that. But a prolonged losing stretch of games? Anything can happen, but I'm not convinced it will in this case. They've now got too many starters that will go deep into games, covering for that bullpen. And they've got the offense to simply blow away most opponents. So you think the worst they will do from now on over any 10 game stretch is .500? I'm sure they'll do worse than that at some point. The Brewers offense, much like our own can very well blow away most opponents, but it can also go ice cold out of nowhere. They did it last year, they can do it again.
  7. I wouldn't rule out adding a bat. It would have to be a significant upgrade though, which limits the options and eliminates names like Rich Aurilia. Where though? He's not going to supplant Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, or Kosuke with their production and contracts. Theriot, DeRosa, and Soto are about as good as it gets for their position, and two of those are young guys with the other being under contract for another year(not to mention Fonteneaux's capabilities behind DeRo). That leaves the Edmonds/Johnson platoon, which like I mentioned is torching the ball better than anyone on the team(save for the aforementioned Fonteneaux). I just don't see where it could happen. Im very confident that the offense will come back to life when we hit Wrigley. If were a game out of first, so be it. If our team starts firing on all cylinders again, theres not a team in the NL that can stop us, not even in the supposedly impossible September run. We have the best rotation in the NL. We have the most solid lineup in the NL. Our bench and bullpen are as good as any contending teams in the NL(I say that because the Pads have a pretty solid pen). Theres no point in aquiring a decent bat when we have plenty of great bats that need to start hitting.
  8. They have been Cobbed. Id hold off on Losers for when(or if) they fall out of first.
  9. The only way I would see Aurilia being of any use to us would be as a waiver pick up for the September roster exopansion. Hed be a nice bat off the bench for the stretch, even though he wouldnt be playoff eligible.
  10. But he was a problem. Exclamation point. He has been aproblem lately, but I dont see how it would have made a difference last night. It probably would have ended the same. 2 guys on, Lee DP, Ramirez ground out, end of story. So we lose 1-0 instead of 2-0.
  11. While winning is fun, is it really as rewarding as spoon feeding a young pitcher his first win of the season?
  12. Lets not point too many fingers at Lee and Ramirez. The majority of the offense has hit a snag. Its easy to say that their making more money, so its there job to keep us going, but Soto, DeRosa, and Fukudome have all be pretty silent as of late. Fuku seems to be showing signs of life, but we dont know the plan when Fonz returns. 2nd? 5th? 6th or 7th? As for DeRosa, Lou might consider at least riding out Fontenots hot streak when Fonz returns, and see where it gos. DeRosa can go back to being "Super Sub" for a little while.
  13. The offense will come back. Soriano will be come back soon, and reconfigure the entire team. The Brewers and Cardinals will hit there own rough patches. I would, however like to see Edmonds hit 4th, with Lee and Ramirez around him once or twice, just to see how it works out.
  14. it is. my point was to say that he has been stepping up. I wasnt saying that he hasnt been, Im just saying hes our guy right now. Lately, our 3 top hitters have been Edmonds: and when Soriano returns, he'll be a platoon guy Theriot:when Soriano returns, he'll be bumped out of the 1 spot where hes thrived. Hopefully hes just moved to 2 Fontneot: when Soriano returns, we'll see him about as much as Cedeno.
  15. You mean like this? Last 28 days: 358/402/576 Last 14 days: 296/387/630 Last 7 days: 444/500/778 If thats Jimmy, he needs to keep it up
  16. The way the CUbs are playing, does it really matter if he rehabs in Tuscon of Phoenix?
  17. We need someone to step up and play Jacque Jones. As I recall, around this time, maybe a little later last season, the majority of the offense hit a funk, however, there was one guy who was able to come through in pretty much every situation. Im not saying sign Jacque, IM just saying someone needs to step up. Jim Edmonds, Im looking in your direction.
  18. Maybe petition the league to see if he can wear the pinstripes on the road??? Get him some thigh highs. The knee highs arent getting it done anymore.
  19. I just dont get how it seems like Howry gives up at least 1 run every time he pitches, but then Lou loses complete confidence in Wuertz and Lieber after 1 bad inning depite pitching once a week if that.
  20. On the bright side, the first half started off similarly, and that turned out OK. Plus, we didnt have a 2 game lead under our belts.
  21. If Lou doesnt find a way to get kicked out of the game tommorow, I will be very dissapointed.
