  1. I believe we're 2 over .500 against all teams besides the Cubs. As for LLF's comments, it really has no basis in reality. The one thing that's going to help you today is that two of our best hitters were traded in the last week. The reality is, prior to these trades, we're a very good hitting team that can't pitch. We're not losing games 4-3. We're losing 7-9. In fact, 26 of our 50 wins have been come from behind wins. While we've lost two of our most productive hitters, there are still guys hitting. Look at Doumit. Look at Adam LaRoche's July numbers. I don't need to talk about McClouth. The problem has been starting pitching, pure and simple. It's kind to call it pitiful. Let's start with Matt Morris. ('nuff said there.) Snell & Gorzo have been a LOT worse than last year (Thanks, Jim Tracy). Maholm has been good, very good as of late. Duke was better this year than last, but still has a ways to go. Dumatrait had a couple of good stats but ended up on the DL. I won't even discuss the rest of the guys as there was maybe two good starts amongst them. It's no accident that 5 of the 8 players we acquired are Pitchers. But to say that not shutting us out makes us look better than we are has no basis in the facts. You do realize that Nady and Bay are both gone now, and Laroche is on the DL?
  2. Is he enough of an upgrade to give up Ronny Cedeno for good? Thos only logical corresponding move would be to let go Ronny, and some team would pick him up.
  3. If we dont shut them out every game, we'll be making them look better than they are.
  4. Lets keep the R-Train rolling. Seriously though, anything short of a sweep in this series can be chalked up as a failure. No Bay, Nady, or Laroche, at least Adam. While the Bay trade may have made them better for future purposes, maybe good enough for 3rd or 4th in 2 or 3 years, it makes them even worse than they ever have been for the time being. At least with Nady and Bay, they had some power.
  5. Yeah, lets not do that though. Lets roll through the Pirates(sand Cub killers), Astros(now with 100% more Latroy Hawkins), and Cardinals.
  6. Braves win, 5 game lead for us!
  7. i think that pretty much covers it. we'll use the same update for ryan harvey. Is it too early to bury Tyler Colvin in the same mass grave?
  8. They'll still lose. The Braves are now as bad as the Padres, Nationals, Giants, and Royals.
  9. That was a nice little board explosion. And damn worth it too. By a show of hands, how many people expected to leave Milwaukee with a 4 game sweep, completely dominating 3 of the 4 games.
  10. I think the annihalation and humiliation is all the pay back we need. Aside from game one, this series wasnt even close. Not only have we completely laid waste to The Brew Crew, but we now play the Pirates without Nady, LaRoche, and more than likely Bay. I cant wait to see Ryan Doumit at clean up.
  11. Jim Edmonds to Jim Hendry-yeeeeah, I dont think you'll be replaceing me anytime soon.
  12. Hrdenes pushing 50 pitches already, huh? Looks like this could end up being a big Sean Marshall day, and you know how the Brewers love them lefties.
  13. I don't. Veal can't seem to get his walks under control. Ceda's got his own control issues, but at least he's got nearly unhittable stuff to offset it. Control is definitely a concern - I'm not utterly sold on Ceda though. He's the type of guy I'd like to ship off while his value is really high. which was last offseason I didn't know it had dropped. Yeah terrorizing AA hitters probably isn't hurting Ceda's stock any. These days, a quality reliever is just as valuable as a starter, especially one with closer potential.
  14. Think this have anything connection with his lack of use since his return from the DL? Yup..Why oh why can't it be Bob Howry instead No kidding. Is Neal Cotts our lefty specialist then? While theres no demeand for old, bad righties, there is some demand for old, mediocre lefties, plus we have 2 lefties in the pen who Lou trusts more.
  15. No, hes hurt. Theres a difference. I remember when Wood was "hurt"
  16. Dangerous. We don't need Ibanez with that lineup. Happy to see Edmonds back.
  17. I hope not Ward is one of the top PHers out there. While he's having a down year with the bat, he's really patient which gets him into good counts or at the least gets him on base with a walk. They might be able to DL Edmonds to extend Ward's stay, but otherwise it comes down to a choice between Edmonds and Ward, and Edmonds is the better choice 10 times out of 10. Even if he gets hurt and is unable to even pinch hit, then he can be DL'ed and Hoffpauir comes in with the exact same skillset as Ward. I wonder what Ward would fetch in trade, even in August? Probably similar to what we got for Neifi Perez, Todd Walker, and Craig Monroe. If we packaged him with Howry or Eyre, maybe we could get a little something more. I wonder if Detroit would be interested now that their top pinch hitter is now their starting catcher.
  18. http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/tools/med/2008/07/ipt/1217477867.jpg The is not doctored of photoshopped. Brilliant.
  19. gotcha. I was searching the first 10 pages of the transactions thread, but didnt bother to check there.
  20. Wow, the White Sox just got real old, real quick. Kenny Williams as accomplished his mission of making the 2006(or was it 2005) Giants team look young.
  21. The thing is, were not looking for a starter to replace the Johnson/Edmonds platoon. Were looking for another bench bat to replace Ward, hopefully a power one, which makes DeJesus out of that equation. Id take Giles or Ibanez over DeJesus, unuless Edmonds is more injured than Lou is letting on.
  22. Hilarious. I was looking for a Manny trade thread to post this, but sadly their was none. This is not photshopped or doctored in any way. http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/tools/med/2008/07/ipt/1217477867.jpg
  23. Our Harden vs. their Bush. I have a feeling that a record number of board warnings will be issued before the game even starts. Maybe the mods should sticky a list of acceptable/unnaceptable innuendos. Seriously though, lets sweep them, finally get to that 21 over plateau, and then mop the floor with the dregs of the division back home.
  24. I know it would be expensive, but probably doable. Ziegler is a rookie, but hes 28 or 29. Granted, he costs the A's nothing, but could generate a hell of a return to a contender desperate for pen help. I know Beanes done us enough favors, but someone should try. In fact, if Im the Brewers, after stating that they plan on making the big show this year, Id dangle Gamel and Escobar, or maybe Hardy for both of those guys. It could be tough for beane to say no to that.
