  1. Hey Soto, remember what you used to do? Why dont you giv it a try.
  2. 1st RBI of the season for Maholm. Good ole Ted Lilly.
  3. Doumit to Maholm: just throw the damn ball down the middle, and the rest will take care of itself.
  4. Thats going to give us a nice little arsanal off the bench late in the game if neccessary.
  5. You sure about that, Clark? Pirates v. the Cubs: 4-9 Pirates v. everyone else in the NL: 41-40 Don't muddy the water with things like facts and rational observations. It's not fair. Even if the statement were true based on last night, 3 runs off of Jason Marquis doesnt classify as A game. It was just another case of the Cubs being baffled by a no name pitcher.
  6. I have a feeling that Koyie and Dubois will both get call ups. Theres the empty 40 man spot, plus, as its been stated multiple times, theres really no point in keeping Chad Fox around. Unless of course, hes in their September plans.
  7. Our resident Pirates fan seems to think that Maholm has been near untouchable in July. Well, Julys over, plus its the "untouchable" pitchers that we end up beating and get shut down by the likes of Steve Karstens, Brian Mohler, and Shawn Chacon.
  8. Dont look no, but Fukudome and Soto are neck and neck as far as OPS gos, both in the .800 neighborhood, plus the fact that Kosuke is amazing on the field.
  9. Scott Eyre, LHRP Cubs-destination-Red Sox They wanted a lefty for the pen, and the great Will Ohman was their target, but Atlanta decided to keep him. They were targeting Eyre as a fll back, as were the Yankees.
  10. looks like the Brewers are taking out their agressions on the hapless Braves.
  11. Brewers(Suppan) vs. Braves(Chuck James)-if we lost to a no name pitcher and a AAA team, by golly, so can they Cards(Kyle Lohse, whose slowly realising that hes Kyle Lohse) vs. Phillies(Kid Cole) White Sox, now with 100% more Ken Griffey Jr. take on someone.
  12. Almost as though the players were working on their goofy pre game routines while the game tape on these crappy pitchers was rolling.
  13. To those of us who arent superstitious, it sounds crazy. But does it really sound any crazier than a player who always wears his lucky undershirt, or rally thong, or rally pedophile mustach? Baseball players are known to be a superstitious bunch, and many fans are as well.
  14. Losing 2 out of 3 wouldn't have been that surprising, although unexpected, regardless of what happened in the games before. wtf is with people needing to label this as a letdown or something to justify the loss? They lost. Losses happen all the time. It makes a lot more sense to think they just lost for the same reason they lose all the other times than because they came off a big series sweep. God I need to stop taking this bait, but I can't help myself. The loss isnt the let down. We'll, its A let down, but the fact that the offense didnt bother to show up vs. a no name pitching staff is kind of sucky, especially following the offensive meltdown of last week. Definitely nothing to panic about, and really more of an annoyance than anything.
  15. Or just show how dumb it is to say that "anything but a sweep is a failure." Not saying anyone in particular... don't even know who said it. I love how people who are so stat driven and realists think that a fan on a computer have anything to do with an outcome of a baseball game. I agre fully. People talk about not jinxing something, when the fact is, theres always going to be someone out there "jinxing" an outcome, whether you can hear them or not. Woah, definitely not talking about jinxing or anything. What David said above is on the mark. my last comment didnt even have anything to do with anyone on the board. Just a general statement. Like if a no hitter is in the 8th, if anyone says anything, its "jinxing" it, but the fact is, someone out there is saying hey, such and such has a no hitter going throgh 8, whether its the guy next to you, or someone at a bar in Newark.

  17. Or just show how dumb it is to say that "anything but a sweep is a failure." Not saying anyone in particular... don't even know who said it. That would be me. I know, some one come back quick with the "go figure remark".
  18. Or not. Soto looks really bad lately. Maybe just today? Last 7 - .350/.409/.600 July overall not so good, though... I just pointed it out because I remembered him doing pretty well lately. Ballgame... It seems as though every time he does get a hit or a run, its at a completely worthless time.
  19. Im thinking that after the Brewers series, the offense felt they didnt have to show up today, and boy didnt they ever. Tomorow, we have Z going, so 2 runs should be enough to get us by. I guess you have to tip your cao to the Pirates pitching staff of unknowns. The offense, not so much. 3 runs off Marquis is really nothing to get excited about.
