  1. Then for that game the Cubs field a team filled with guys who won't make the postseason roster. And then the Mets or Brewers or whoever complain because the Cubs didn't field a competitive team. Pie CF Cedeno SS Ward 1B Hoffpauir RF Fontenot 2B McGhee 3B Hill C Fuld LF(they could still call him up if they wante, right?) Kevin Hart P would be a very competitve team. They probably wouldnt win the game, but theyed compete none the less.
  2. nice avatar, you should keep it permanently. then have someone change your user name to Ramirez16 or something of that nature ELGEOVANY18 [-( For a Brewer fan, it doesnt make any less sense than El Caballo anymore.
  3. That was probably the last of Maquis, but he probably earned himeself a playoff roster spot right there.
  4. Ive never been less pumped about a huge inning, but its in a good way. So Im guessing we'll be seeing the starters hitting the bench 1 by 1 the next few innings.
  5. Mahoney=Bob Howry. I apologize to anyone not watching the same telecast as I and dont know what the hell Im talking about.
  6. I wonder if Marquis gets some bullpen inings during the week. If he makes the PO roster, thats where he'll be.
  7. They're not likely to have Sheets at 100% and he's been shaky anyway. CC is starting to wear under the strain, and we've shown twice that we can hit him. Parra has turned to junk, and they have literally NO OTHER OPTIONS on their starting staff. Their bullpen remains horrible, and while they once could rely somewhat on Torres if they could get it to him, the clock has struck midnight and he now can't get teams out anymore. We dominate at Miller Park -- it's one of our best venues this season other than Wrigley. I'm not saying you aren't right. But basically, if any team gets hot they would be tough. Even junky teams that slip into the playoffs can get hot and win it all. That said, all things being equal, I don't fear the Crew in the playoffs one bit. All true, but the Brewers are a team with a vendetta against us. twice, we've sent them into a downword spiral, and embarassed them, once big time in their own house. Granted, the second time, they were already well into a downword spiral, but still.
  8. This will be a difficult week for me. First time in my life that part of me will be rooting against the Cubs. Seriously, Id just assume not run into the Brewers in October. Recently, they've been nothing short of awful but when those Howrys get hot, they're damn near unstoppable, and those hot streaks usually last long enough to carry them through the playoffs.
  9. I was about to be very intrigued and confused by this move, but then I realised I was thinking of Brad Wilkerson.
  10. Kosukes bat may not have been an asset lately, but hes still better all around than Hoffpauir or Ward. He may not start depending on how he does this next week, but he'll be there.
  11. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another. and another.
  12. While this game means noithing to the Cubs, it means a lot to the Mets, Brewers, and possibly Jason Marquis. Judging by his recent performances, he deserves a spot on the PO roster. If he can beat the Mets, theres no reason he shouldnt be given a spot, especially if hes competing with the likes of Samardzjia, Wuertz, and Howry.
  13. Cedeno, on the other hand has been doing OK for himself. Granted, Theriot has been great for most of the seaon, but when October rolls around, its all about whats best to win those last 11 games, and when it comes to your starter vs. the hot hand, you have to go with that hot hand.
  14. this +Gauidin -Howry or Samardzdjiajiajia
  15. I really dont see Kosuke being left off the PO roster. Say what you will, but hes still, all around hes a lot better than Ward and Hoffpauir. He may not stsrt, but he'll be on the roster.
  16. Uh oh, starting tommorow is that last road trip to New York and Milwaukee that could make or break the Cubs season.
  17. Im starting to wonder if Cedeno should be given some starts in October. yeah, Theriots been great for most of the year, but hes been cold lately, and Cedenos been pretty good. When October rolls around, its shouldnt matter what he did in June or July, you have to ride the hot hand, and if that happens to be Ronny, then so be it.
  18. Obviously, they're not going to sit everyone for 8 days. Id say play each one about every other day. Also, they may go ahead and put out a good lineup today. While it is essentially a meaningless game, its still the last game of the home sesason, and they'll want to send the fans home happy.
  19. I don't think anyone would classify it as a "pump-up song." If that's what you were expecting, I could see why you'd be disappointed. I guess your right. Ive been a long time Pesarl Jam fan, and I guess when I heard Vedder was writing a song for the Cubs, I was expecting more of an Evenflow or Hail Hail than a Black or Elderly Woman.
  20. Len and Bob are defintely as god as it gets. Took me a while to warm up to them at first, as I was so used to Stoney, but they grew on me pretty quick. Thank god we dont have some blithering mad man talking about duck snorts and cans of corn.
  21. With their E# at 6, theres a good chance that The Cubs could hold their fate in their hands.
  22. Seems about right. A hung over Dempster goes 3-5 innings max.
  23. I love the Cubs, and I love Eddie Vedder, but this song gets me about as pumped as Eternal Flame by the Bangles.
  24. 3 days rest... don't be so sure Yost last words to Sveum before leaving The Brewers forever: Finish Him!
  25. Eric Davis, Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo, Adam Dunn, Hal Morris, Jose Rijo, Rob Dibble, Deion Sanders, Frank Robinson, Pete Rose, and Johnny Bench all just homered off the Brewers pitching staff.
