  1. At least you know what your going to get that morning. We have to wait through 3-19 games.
  2. Could it be Rogers Hornsby? The way the guys standing, and his age, he looks like he could be a Player-Manager. I know Hornsby was just that at one point.
  3. The 2006 team only won like 32 games. No way Geo played on that team. But seriously, he didn't. Debuted in September of last year, candidate for ROY this year. 2006 was a Barrett year. Soto did play on the 2006 team in September. I'm not sure it was the same guy though..because whoever was using his name looked absolutely clueless at the plate. A lot of swinging bunts, weak ground balls, and strikeouts in his very limited number of at-bats. He had a .471 OPS (over only 25 at-bats) and that was because he got lucky with his BABIP. Thankfully we never saw that version of Geo Soto again. I know, stupid error. we all know that Micah Hoffpauir was the only one in the Cubs system back when that photo was taken.
  4. Id trade it all for Len and Bob.
  5. I'm trying to, but I can't. I'm a hopeless fool. In about 2 hours, the Brewers/Phillies game can keep us occupied.
  6. I think this is the guy the Indians are leaning toward taking to complete the CC deal. It was between him and some pitcher. Since the Brewers made the PO, the Indians get to chose. Im assuming that Gamel and Escobar are off limits.
  7. Have one of the clubhouse personal swap his Day Quil with Ny Quil.
  8. Doesnt look like it http://www.baseball-reference.com/bpv/images/8/81/Vaughnhippo.jpg
  9. Heres the 2008 roster http://www.westsiderooters.com/images/images/08Cubs.jpg and 2006 http://baseball-fever.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29814&d=1191089606 Not finding a match there
  10. Heres a pic of 3 Finger Brown. Looks like it could be him. Not sure though. http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=76422&rendTypeId=4
  11. The same shirt and hat I wore during the clincher.
  12. Im going to guess Heini Zimmerman. Just a guess though.
  13. I'll take it. Please be patient with Lowe and don't swing at his low-and-away slider, Cubs. I'm beggin' here. My biggest fear with D Lowe is D Lee coming to the plate with 1 out and a man on 1st.
  14. You know, that's really not that bad of a lineup. Considering they have Nomar, Kent, and Pierre off the bench, its not bad at all. It's going to be all about our pitching this series. If Demp, Z, and Harden are on, this should be a quick series.
  15. National League 1st 2nd 3rd Points Brad Lidge, PHI 12 7 3 53 Kerry Wood, CHC 6 6 4 34 Ryan Ludwick, STL 5 4 4 27 Jorge Cantu, FLA 2 5 7 23 Fernando Tatis, NYM 2 5 2 18 Jody Gerut, SD 1 1 1 6 Gabe Kapler, MIL 0 1 4 6 Doug Davis, ARI 1 1 0 5 Mike Lincoln, CIN 1 0 0 3 Mike Hampton, ATL 0 0 2 2 Chan Ho Park, LAD 0 0 1 1 I find Ludwicks inclusion a bit odd. Doesn the Comeback Player suggest that they're coming back after a rough year or a few? What is Ludwick coming back from? Hes been a career minor leaguer. If he was the breakthrough player of the year, Id understand, but a comeback player should be coming back from something.
  16. They really serve the same purpose. So Hoffs had one big game. Wards come up with some big hits. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I really dont see it as a make or break. lol...OK, say they both serve the same purpose, do we want: Player A, 73 AB's: .342/.400/.534, 139 OPS+ Player B, 102 AB's: .216/.319/.402, 85 OPS+ That is hardly a tough question. Hoff has had more than just "one big game". He's obviously the better player at this point. Hoff also didn't sit his ass on the bench throughout an entire year, but played nearly every day in AAA where he also mashed the hell out of the ball, hitting .362/.393/.752 with 25 HR and 34 doubles in just 71 games. . And its not easy for a player, especially a rookie to go from playing everyday to being a bat off the bench. I wont argue that if we were talking a starting position that Hoff would be the much better choice, but again, hes used to playing everyday, and when a player gos from playing in the field everyday to sitting on the bench waiting to be called upon, its hard to fiend his stroke. All and all, Hoff would be the better choice, but in the end, as I said before, I dont see it being a make or break choice.
  17. They really serve the same purpose. So Hoffs had one big game. Wards come up with some big hits. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I really dont see it as a make or break. Hoff probably gets Wards job next year anyway.
  18. Looks like the Twinkies proved they were nothing more than pretenders in the end. We'll see if the White Sox stand a chance vs. the Rays.
  19. Gooz, I can almost understand. Straight off of TJ, they probably dont want to push their luck. As for Gaudin, all I can think of is that his back injury is still bothering him, and more of a problem than he let on. Bob Howry indeed.
  20. It all starts this evening as the Minnsota Twins stun the Chicago White Sox to take the AL Central NLDS Cubs beat the Dodgers in 3. Phillies beat the Brewers in 4 ALDS Twins beat the Rays in 5 Red Sox beat the Angels in 4 NLCS Cubs beat the Phillies in 5 Red Sox beat the Angels in 5 WS Cubs beat the Red Sox in 5
  21. If the Cubs can pull it all off this year, only then will I be willing to relive memories of 2003.
  22. I remember having a dream around the all star break, Kerry Wood was pitching, it was a World Series game, but I cant be sure which game, or who the opponent was. There were men on 1st and 3rd, but I cant be sure how many were out. Woke up before it ended.
  23. So do any of the stat heads out there have each NL playoff teams record vs. >.500 teams? Just curious.
  24. pretty sure we're on that list too. The question is, for how long?
  25. No, I haven't heard that Carol. That is interesting. first time I've heard it as well I just want to know who went to the World Series posing as the Cubs in 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938, and 1945 Cobs.
