  1. Theres a very, very, very good chance that weve seen the last of CC Sabathia as a MIlwaukee Brewer.
  2. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays on their first ever playoff win.
  3. fixed If the Cubs lose tonight, they will NOT win the series. It won't even get back to Chicago. I'm not saying they will lose tonight, but if they do, they're toast in this series.. Plain and simple. There is a very fine line between optimism and stupidity. I never disagreed with that statement. I was basically saying no more wait until next year, time to give up and say to hell with it. Just enjoy a baseball season like a Royals or Pirates fans. Enough with the silly expectations. Like you, I am confident that if we win tonight, we have a good shot. If we dont, thats that.
  4. Right now, were down by 3 in the 3rd. Win tonight, and were down by 1 in the 4th. Lost tonight, and were down by 5 in the 8th.
  5. I keep having visions of the bases full of Cubs, and a they clear on a mis-played double to the ivy by Manny Ramirez. Unfortunately, I havnt figured out which Cub gets the hit.
  6. If there are 2 things Mets relievers are familiar with it's...wel,, you know where Im going with this.
  7. Whuile compiling all these stats about who did what in which series, how about analysing how many times the team who fell behind or pulled ahead 1 game was the team with the better season record
  8. The year 2080 http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2007/06/26/MDSCJPzq.jpg I came across a picture of an old Cub. Any ideas? Rich Harden? Ryan Dempster? Greg Maddux? Mitch Atkins? Josh Vitters? Kerry Wood? Ryne Sandberg? I thought my grandfather might know, but he became enraged and dropped dead of a heart attack when I showed it to him.
  9. http://www.tanmonkey.com/fun/puppies/puppies-in-a-wagon.jpg For every run the Dodgers score, 1 shall perish.
  10. I second that vote Where is he going to play? DeRosa can't play right. Can't because of the injury? I still take my chances. And this quote makes it sound as if Lou might as well...From the Trib: Fukudome started in right field and batted second Wednesday night but went 0-for-4 in the 7-2 loss to the Dodgers, which may cause Piniella to change his mind Thursday. "I'm not sure," he said afterward. "Let's wait until [Thursday] and see." This just hours after he said Fukudome would start every game. I say take the chance and put DeRo in RF to start the game. If DeRo is feeling up to it, I say put him in RF and Font at 2b. If the calf is bugging him, switch him to 2B and bring in Wasteofdoughme. If DeRo cant play RF, put him at 2b, Crapke in RF and bat him 9th.
  11. The fact that JeffH has the slightest bit of confidence means that we have a damn good shot.
  12. I seriously have that feeling that theres 0% chance that we lose this game. I had a good feeling yesterday, but not like this, and when we do win this game
  13. Zambrano, Zambrano, Zambrano. Granted, we need him, but he cant do it alone. Some of those bats are going to need a wake up call in a major way. Last night, the offense stunk worse than a dumpster full of dead racoons and rotten eggs.
  14. Cubs are going to win the next 3, Im going to pretty much guarantee it. Why? Because this morning, I found a quarter in my car. Doesnt sound special, but we never really keep change around. At a stop light, I played coin toss. Heads Cubs, Tails Bad Guys. Heads won all 3. After the that, I threw it onto the passenger seat, and it slipped into that space between the seat and the console, likely never to be seen again. This means something I tell you.
  15. If they dont win it all, Hendry better welcome the new owners by spending every penny of their money. CC 7 Years/150 mil is a start.
  16. I was wondering that as well. If he doesn't get another chance to pitch, it definitely cost him money and likely cost him a chance to pitch in the blue pinstripes next year. You don't think the Cubs will bring him back? :-)) I was thinking the same thing. It seems losing that money and his chances of staying with the cubs are actually related . . . :) Just remember the Kyle Lohse contract. He'll still be making over 10 mil.
  17. No pressure Z. None whatsoever. Win this, and it becomes a best of 3.
  18. Fukudome didn't play bad tonight. He wasn't the reason the Cubs lost. I just hope that he doesnt end up making Todd Hundly look like a good signing in the long run. Right now I care about this series. I don't. The odds of us winning it are about the same as the odds of a 3-run come back in the late innings. Possible, but not worth hoping on. More like a 3 run come back through 3-4 innings. Very possible if they put there mind to it.
  19. Because our guy makes more money than there guy. Isnt that what matters?
  20. Fukudome didn't play bad tonight. He wasn't the reason the Cubs lost. I just hope that he doesnt end up making Todd Hundly look like a good signing in the long run.
  21. A lot of people predicted us to win today, and lose tommorow. So if we end up winning tommorow, it will be the same result, and we head to the road, where weve played our best lately. If we lose, well, theres alwasy next year. Or the year after that. or the year after that. or never.
  22. You cn only blame the pitching so much. yeah, they sucked, but the offense was just as bad. The Cubs do this a lot, when they have a series of bad games before finding their zone. The problem is, they dont have the time, and they need to find that zone tommorow.
