This is the reason that celler dweller teams will never crawl out. It seems that all of the big free agents seems to go to the same teams such as Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers, Angels, Cubs(for now anyway) leaving the rest of the teams fighting for the scraps, and when they do make a star out of the farm system, it's only a matter of time before they go where the money is. Its partly the money and partly because a lot of these players would rather jump into a ready made playoff contender than becoem a major piece of a rebuilding team. Of course every now and then, a team will get lucky, such as The Rays, who brought up a ton of prospect who all panned out, but in the end, they'll only be able to keep so many of them around, and before long the Yankees and Red Sox will once again have sole ownership of the division. I know that Smoltz and Baldelli are far from top of the line free agents, Im just saying.
