  1. And then have less to offer for other things we need If we lose Ramirez for months, tell one thing we'll need more than a starting 3rd baseman?
  2. I forgot about Garrett Atkins, who the Rox have been desperately trying to pawn on someone. He wont fill Ramirez shoes, but hed be better than Freel/Fontenot/Miles
  3. The good thing about Hendry is if Ramirez has to miss a lot of time, he'll go out and get someone. He'll grossly overpay, but he'll get someone.
  4. Basically, Huff, Wiggington, Mora, Kouzmanoff, and maybe Cantu are the options I can think of. Maybe DeRosa.
  5. Aubrey Huff or Ty Wiggington? I know the O's just sent us a third baseman, but I figure they should be mathamatically eliminated by late next week, so maybe we have some of McPhails old guys that weve forgotten about that hed like back. I like those options, and we seem to make every other trade with Baltimore. I would say the odds we target one of those guys are decent. Id even take Melvin Mora if they perfered. Mora, Wiggington, and Huff are 3 guys who have no business on the same team. Also, Jorge Cantu can play 3rd base too. Hes arb eligible next year, and we know how much the Marlins hate having to actually pay guys.
  6. Someone must have told Milton its time to grow up and become the man of the house.

  8. I mentioned in the game thread. Kevin Kouzmanoff might be the closest thing, maybe Aubrey Huff or Ty Wiggington. Obviuosly, they wont replace Ramirez by a long shot, but if Soto and Bradley can do something it will ease the pain.
  9. We'll need far more than Kouzmanoff if we lose ARam for a significant period. If we can start getting production from Bradley and Soto, we can pull through it. These guys have given us 0. They need to step up or ship out.
  10. Len was saying day off since the team got back so late. That and his general suckiness.
  11. If Bradley and Soto can pull their bats out of their anuses, it might not be the end of the world. Weve gotten next to no production out of the Sub Mendoza twins and weve done pretty good so far.
  12. Freel will be our starting 3B for a while, but we may want to look into Kevin Kouzmanoff.
  13. Sure, why wouldnt a 1st place team trade their starting 3rd baseman?
  14. Looks like were looking at our stating 3rd baseman for a while
  15. Great catch by Milt, but Im kind of surprised he didnt break into 5 pieces.
  16. This should be a telling inning for Wells, going the second time through a tough heart of the Brewers order.
  17. He only seems to have a fastball and a slider, and unless their spectacular, your not going to make it as a major league starter without any off speed stuff.
  18. Wells main advantage could be that he knows hes not fighting for a long term job. When Z comes back, hes probably back in Iowa regardless of what he does here. He knows hes a filler, so he just needs to throw strikes, and let the rest take care of itself.
  19. So will the newest member of the Cubs be in uniform this evening?
  20. These past 2 weeks must have been one hell of an emotional roller coaster for poor Bobby Scales.
  21. Depending on the salary configuration, I dont mind picking up a player who could be of use to us if it only cost us Gathright. Now why anyone would want Gathright and Pie on the same team is beyong me. Maybe they can pick up Rajai Davis and Michael Bourn too.
  22. Whether we like it or not, usually, when the talk about one of these kinds of minor deals it tends to happen, so I guessing that Freel will be a Cub by the end of the weekend, unless Scales is given enough of an opportunity and wows Lou.
