    We're low on options. The best the Cubs can hope for is either a young guy who could end up being a decent bench option some day or a mediocre veteran who may or may not have some gas left in the tank. I don't think Hendry will pursue a top flight option, so the best we can hope for is someone who is decent at best. Counsell and McGehee arent decent options. Id just as soon put Font and Freel at 3rd and sign Durham for 2nd.

    Actually, the team we're currently playing has a glut of guys who could be decent options at 3B. McGehee, Hall, and Counsell are all possibilities. They wouldnt trade us Hall and Id just assume keep what we have over McGehee and Counsell. The very thought of an infield of Theriot-Miles-Counsell makes me want to cry.

    I hope Hendry spends his evening on the phone with the GMs of the Orioles and Rockies, and maybe the Mariners and Marlins.

    Even if Lees neck injury doesnt DL him, its going to linger no question, so were going to need to make a trade. If we can get a guy like Atkins or Huff who can play both corner postions, that would be super.

    I hate to say this, but if there is somethig wrong with Freel already, it may work to our advantage by forcing Hendry to make a trade sooner than later.

    I dont Love it. I dont partiulcarly like it. But I dont hate it. Id much rather Freel or Scales who have yet to prove they can produce than Aaron Miles, whose proved that he cant. Oh yeah, and Free Koyie Hill! Without further adiu, Let the post Ramirez era begin. Lets hope Freels worht a damn. Theannoying part is that when healthy, Freel is an ideal leadoff hitter, and youd think Soriano would be an ideal number 3 hitter, but for some reason, Soriano just wets himself whenever taken out of leadoff. Almost like hes doing it to spite Lou for taking him out of his precious comfort zone to help the team.

    4-6 weeks would have been OK. 6-8 minumum will require a trade, and since pretty much all of the potential suiters are FAs next year, I say Jim makes it happen soon.

    Someone help me out here. there was a guy, 2004 or 2005 Cubs Minor League Player of the year. 2B or 3B, and then, he got injured, may have been a broken leg and he was never heard from again.
