  1. I have no doubt he will overpay. But look on the bright side. When hendry is fired we can hire Depo and he'll rebuild the farm like he did for the dodgers. Like Truffle asked, besides the Pierre trade, when has Hendry significantly overpaid in a trade? Right now, Hendry overpaying or not doesnt enter into the equation. We could surely out together a package similar to the White Sox. Its a matter of getting the go ahead from the owner, and since theres no owner, thats easier said than done. Eh, I don't want to overpay much for Peavy. I'm already on the fence as to whether I think he's valuable enough to add. That said, the ownership will need to get more in place before we can do anything, I would think. As for overpaying, Hendry is usually really good not overpaying in trades. Marshall, Cashner, Jackson and 2 PTBNL and maybe score Kouzmanoff in the process?

  3. I definitely prefer Scales, whose had respectable major league numbers and solid minor league numbers over Blanco whose been mediocre at best in the minors and piss poor in his previous major league stints if I have to pick 1 as a starter.
  4. Makes me wonder if this is the last step before they go ahead and make a trade. Even if Ramirez is back by August, thats still 2 months we have to deal with that jumble of garbage theyve been shuffling around.
  5. Tennessee has 3 outfielders, Daytona has 4. Any thoughts on how long Peoria is likely to keep 5? Its time to poop or get off the pot with Colvin. Send him to Tenn to see if theres still a chance of him ever being worth a damn. At this rate, he'll be another DuBois/Fox/Snyder/Hoffpauir in his late 20's at best before they even consider calling him to the big leagues, if hes still with the organization, or the league for that matter by then. As for Peoria, Kyler Burkes the only one whose been any better than brutal with the bat, so send him to Daytona.
  6. Lets see if we can take a few wins from a real team.
  7. Its hard for a fan base to jump right in to a team, especially when theyve been awful for their existance. If they're still around in 10-15 years, there will be kids that grew up watching them that are now older who should be fans. Who knows, maybe if they actually try to put a team together and not try to just get by on their fancy new stadium, they'll be in business.
  8. Kevin Hart with 0 runs 2 hits 2 BB 5 Ks throuhg 4. He has a nice outting last time too. Maybe hes better off as a starter.
  9. Looks like Lous definitely toying with the idea of Fox at 3rd. Problem is, after all these years of terrible defense, I dont think a few days with Alan Trammel is going to do much good.
  10. What is everyone's obsession with Khalil Greene? He sucks. Except for 2007, he's always sucked, and he will continue to suck for as long as he plays baseball. We have enough sucky players on this team. We don't need any more. He's decent defensively, but do we need another guy who can't hit? Would it help if I put it in green font? I know you're kidding, but theres something about him and Bobby Crosby that everyone thinks their team can bring them back to their glory, which was 1 productive season.
  11. See you and naked Stoney tomorrow. Funny how after last weeks hell, a 2 game win streak vs. the Pirates feels like a 10 game streak.
  12. I'm not saying I love him, but if Scales could keep his OBP up in the mid to high .300s for the next 2-3 weeks, he'd be ok at second until Durham was ready. Either way, I agree that settling on a more certain starter at third and second for the duration (until we make a trade or Aramis comes back at least) would be helpful to the players. Im with you there. Id rather it be Scales than Blanco, but I hope they get moving on something soon.
  13. I just hope Farney doesnt tell Ryan Freel to start killing again.
  14. Im not as in love with Bobby as some other people. Hes better than Blanco as a stop gap, but one way or another, we need to get someone be it DeRosa, Blalock, Durham, Beltre, Kouzmanoff, whatever.
  15. I like your suggestion, or else were probably looking at Blanco in the everyday lineup for a while.
  16. Looks like were 1 Kevin Gregg roller coaster ride away from a 2 game win streak and a series win vs. the mighty Pirates.
  17. Reed's been in the game all day in CF. I think hes suggesting that we replace Soriano in the everyday lineup with Reed, which is ludicrous.
  18. Did I mention I really want to win this game, especially with the Dodgers coming to town.
  19. This is really funny taken out of context. I have DVR and I don't think you can conclusively say he got the left hand in there. I think he most likely did, but it is not 100% certain. I dont have a DVR. Can you recomend a good one?
  20. I question whether the human eye and brain has that ability under any circumstances. That's an awfully high degree of differentiation you are asking them to take on. well, if your argument is that humans are physiologically or psychologically incapable of being competent umpires, that's a legitimate position, but I don't think most people will agree that no one can do it. Maybe since Lou wont erupt, Z was just taking matters into his own hands.
  21. Marmol's in the BP. That makes me feel a bit better. Still, theres nothing more I hate than those games where we score in the first and never again.
  22. Seriously, when he's not hitting there's not a more useless player in baseball. During his current slump, hes been brutal even by Bad Soriano standards.
  23. And now we have to rely on Heilman, Patton, Ascasnio, and new guy. Not looking good.
