  1. Surely someone will take a chance on him on a minor league deal.
  2. I remember Bradens perfecto, who had the other no hitter? I seem to remember it happening, but I forget who threw it.
  3. Something tells me you weren't saying this before yesterday. We could probably get more for Wells, and we don't know if last year was a fluke or not. I dont see why it seems so unreasonable to want to keep Gorz over Wells, or vice versa. They're both very different pitchers, yet rather interchangeable all the same. Theyre the same age. Wells was a very pleasent surprise last year, and this year has looked great at times, but has alos looked dreadfull at times. Gorz was a highly thought of prospect with the Pirates organization, and seemed very promising back in 2007 before things went south for him and he was demoted. Wells relies on hitting his spots as a finesse guy, where Gorz is more of a power pitcher. Depending if a team wants a righty or lefty, Id be willing to move either dependig on the return. I know a lot of people will strongly disagre with me, but Id just as soon trade em both if we could get some solid prospects and bring up Cashner and either J Jax or Diamond.
  4. Oh god no We already have him down in Iowa, only his names harder to spell.
  5. B Jax and Vitters have really been slumping. And when does Aaron Schaffer make his way to Tenessee? I alos predict that in 2011, Thomas Diamond is pitching in the big leagues, but more than likely, not for the Cubs.
  6. I suppose if hes going to be penned, may as well be in the big leagues. I just hope that it doesnt come at the expense is Stevens or Russell. Just DL Grabow somehow. The guys all kinds of awful/
  7. With the 2 pitchers spots due up, the inning ends here, but it was a fun 1.
  8. Nothing against Gorz, but if/when Lilly leaves town, Id much rather the spot be given to Cashner or Jackson. Gorz looks like he could be a solid mid rotation pitcher, or an above average 4-5, but Cash and Jax, especially Cashner looks like they could be quality front end guys. Maybe if Silva can at least continue to keep his head above water he could be another sell high candidate, especially when after this year he only has 1 year left.
  9. guess the worst part about this move isnt that their doing it, its that they dont need to do it. Now that Lou seems to realize that Grabow has no bueiness in key situations, the pens been OK. If we really needed a set up man, then this move would be OK, However, hes probably more valuable building strenght in the Iowa rotation, and can be brought up if Silva falls off a cliff and Gorzalanny has already been traded, or has fallen off a cliff himself. They're making a bad decison here, especially when there are guys like Blake Parker, who should be next in line.
  10. The only real problem with the pen has been Grabow, and Lous insistance on putting him in key situations, although he seems to have learned hos lesson for the most part. Basically what we end up with is a 7 million dollar loogy who cant get lefties out. Bergm Caridad, and Z had all been brutal at times, but Russels been pretty good, as has Stevens so far in a small sample size.
  11. Any chance we could do what we did with Fox and Miles and trade Gorz to a team who wants him enough to take Grabow and part of his salary off our hands?
  12. While I havnt heard anything else about it, I was listening to the score and they were talking about Mike Lowell as a trade target if Aramis needs to miss significant time. Now if were in the race, and we need a replacement for Ram, we could do a lot worse than Lowell. However, what a desperate management team would give up for the 3-4 month rental makes me cringe. While I doubt they'd give up Cashner or Vitters, I could definitely see them giving up J Jax and then some.
  13. He may not have the fastest fastball, but its still going to hurt when Casey catches it in his ribs when we play them in LA.
  14. Really what they should have done if they were itching to call up a prospect is call up J Jax. If by the trade deadline it looks like were out of it, trade Lilly and bring up Cashner to the rotation. Jax looks like he could be very good, but Cashner looks like he could be somthing special, and its a shame that they're doing this. The way I see it, Sean Marshall has already estblished himself at set up, and if they want a 7th inning guy, they should give Stevens a chance to earn the job, and if that doesnt work out, call up Jax.
  15. Angel Guzman was pretty hyped up. I dont think too much hype ever surrounded Rich Hill. I guess the only other candidates are Mark Pawalek and Jeff Samardjiza.
  16. Thats weird. I work in ophthalmology, and I cant think of any condition in which you suddenyl go completely blind. It could have been a retinal detachment, which I believe is what happened with Juan Encarnacion in which there are other symptoms that go along, or optic neuritis, but with that, you dont go completely blind, but you lose significant vision
  17. I just dont get it. First they convert J Jax to the pen, with the likely intention of calling him up as a reliever. Jax responds by dominting out of the pen, and not giving up a single run in his 2-3 weeks there. Now they decide to put him back in the rotation and convert Cashner. Im still confident that Cashner can go back to starting, probably as early as next year, but Im stil perplexed by the move as a whole.
  18. Back to back Ws vs. Good teams. Things could be looking up. And the old man seems to have gottent it throiugh his thick skull who the set up man is.
  19. Its probably not too early to convert McNutt to the pen while they're at it. I'm pretty psyched about our pen of the future. The rotation, not so much.
  20. Wow, not even Freds play by play tonight. Ill be surprised if this GT breaks 4 pages.
  21. If I really felt that this was what we really needed to get us over the top, Id be OK with it, but it just seems like a move to rush these guys up just to get them up. What they should do is shop Gorzalanny or maybe Theriot or Baker for some bullpen help and keep both Cashner and Jax in the rotation. I just hope that we can free up some rotation spots in the neat future so we can put these guys where they belong. And just watch Cash and jax come up and take Stevens and Russels spots whil Howry and Grabow give up 2-3 runs a game.
  22. Looks like Franklin Stubbs is about ready to take his hacks.
  23. Well, Gorz sure chose a bad time to have his worst outing of the season. Not that there was much doubt whose spot Z would take.
  24. Grabow Graaaaaabow Grabow come and I want to go home.
