  1. At least as far as people I know who are more "casual" fans, there seem to be a lot more out there who are hopping on the fire Lou bandwagon.
  2. What does this serve to accomplish? None of the other three offer anywhere near enough of an upgrade to justify benching Aramis, so you might as well playing him in the off chance he finally breaks out of it. If nothing else, he needs to be pushed way down the lineup. I understand giving your star the chance to break out, but you cant keep your worst hitter where he is, especially when you have 2 better options in Soriano and Soto. Enough of Sorianos not wanting to hit in the heart of the order, hes been our best hitter for a few weeks now. Theriot Castro Byrd Soriano Fukudome Soto Lee Ramirez P is really the answer. Lou wants to tinker with every piece of the lineup but where it matters
  3. I wonder how the Losers cob this one. Bad outing by Wells? Lack of offense? bullpen implosion? stupid management? all of the above? So many possibilities. At least I have Lost tommorow at 8, an hour and a half before the Cobs have done so.
  4. Putting Z in the rotation would be foolish at this point. We need him at 3rd.
  5. This team is just one big joke. At least the 2006 team had plenty of excuses to suck. These losers are one of the highest paid teams in the league. The manager doesnt give a damn. the owner is enjoying the honeymoon stage of ownership and completely oblivious to whats happening Ramirez needs to be benched indefinitely, I dont care whp takes his place be it Baker, Fontenot, or bring back Tracy The starting pitching is good, but no staff is good enough to sustain this kind of offense something needs to give, that is if theres anyone involved who gives a damn. this team is just bad
  6. Good at bat there. Too bad the pitchers up, but you never know with Teddy.
  7. Sorianos is actully looking like a consistant hitter this year rather than a monster for a week and then worthless for 2 or 3
  8. So the Cubs heart of the lineup lately has consisted of 2 guys in horrendous, extended slumps and 1 guy who has been a very pleasant surprise. I agree that that this means its time to shake it up a bit. So who do you move around? 1 of the slumpees? No, how about the the pleasant surprise.Who do you insert in his place? The 2008 ROY who has been returning to form? The 20million dollar man whose coming close to earning his money? No, the correct answer is the scrap heap free agent who has been just as bad as the 2 in the extended slump and not even 100% healthy. Sheer brilliance.
  9. Were going to need some of these guys. Say we do sign Adrian either before of after the 2011 season, you have to assume he'll be getting at least the Teixara deal. Couple that with 3-4 more years of Soriano at about 20 mil a pop, and however much more is left on Zambranos deal. That will add up to at least 60 mil for those 3 guys. We need to assume that by that point, Kosukes and Aramis are gone, and while that will free up some money, we'll still need to build around those guys. Castro is a piece that we'll need to hold on to. The Sox were able to land Peavy without giving up Beckham, Im sure we could land Adrian without giving up Castro, it just going to take 3 top prospects and at least 2 more pieces.
  10. But at least the best manager would have Lee and Ramirez, especially Ramirez working out their problems from somewhere in the 6-8 spots with some combination of Soto, Byrd, Soriano and Kosuke in the heart of the lineup. I understand letting your stars work out of a funk, but how long can you keep a guy who looks absolutley lost at the plate and another who doesnt look much better in the heart of your order?
  11. Neither will be canned before the year is over unfortunately. I think Hendry can and will be fired before the AS Break if this team doesn't turn around. As for Lou, I think he's here till the end of the season. He's the captain of this titantic, he should go down with the ship, imo. But getting back to Hendry, my fear isn't him not getting fired, it's him making some pathethic trade to try and improve this team so that he can save his job. I can see him making his own Garland for Karchner type trade before he is fired. J Jax for Jason Frasor sounds like it would fit the bill perfectly. I remember last year when the Grabow trade was first announced and it was rumored, almost confirmed that Jackson was involved in the deal. We dodged the bullet then. Hopefully were as lucky this time around.
  12. At this point, the former relief pitcher by the same name could rake on us.
  13. As of now, the Padres staying hot through the trade deadline could be the best thing to happen to us. Either way, A Gons probably traded at some point, be it at the deadline or the offseason. Obviously, if the Pads are in contention, they wont move him this season, which is good, because as long as D Lees with us, we wouldnt make the move for him. However, the offseason is another story. It sucks that we'll have to part with a very nice prospect package, somethig like -Vitters -1 of Cashner or Jay Jackson -1 of Carpenter or Coleman -1 of HJ Lee or Watkins -another decent prospect-IE Mcnutt, Raly, Kirk, Spencer, Campana, Rhee, Jung, Guyer etc. Id really like to do it without giving up B Jax, and obviously Castro. If we want Adrian, thats whats going to happen. Someones going to make a trade for him at some point, and they're going to sign him to a whopper of an extension. Assuming it happens in the offseason, being freed from Lilly and Lees contracts, coupled with Kosukes and Grabows and a few others after 2011 should put us in a position where we can afford him. Of course Prince Fielder isnt a shabby consolation prize by any means. He can say what he wants about liking Milwaukee, but Scott Boras isnt in the business of handing out home town discounts.
  14. Ew. Why? Meanwhile - the Cards finally have an offensive explosion... ...and it's done w/ Holliday, Rasmus, and Schumaker on the bench. Yeesh. Apparently the cure to the offensive woes is to get the "big names" out of there and play the nobodies. Reds are better than the Cubs. That may be true, but still http://www.hobotraveler.com/blogphotos01/207-517-do-not-feed-troll.jpg
  15. There may not be a single positon player in Iowa worth getting excited over, but you gotta love that rotation of Jackson/Cashner/Coleman/Diamond and Blake Parker closing em out.
  16. Ew. Why? Meanwhile - the Cards finally have an offensive explosion... ...and it's done w/ Holliday, Rasmus, and Schumaker on the bench. Yeesh. Apparently the cure to the offensive woes is to get the "big names" out of there and play the nobodies. I dont know if Id consider Skippy a "big name", but I get what your saying. Cubs have a few big names who I wont mention who could stand to spend a game or 2 or 3 on the bench.
  17. Ill be very dissapointed if Lou is still our manager come tomorrow.
  18. Sometimes I wonder if hes even aware of whats going on or just enjoying himself at the ballpark and the money rolling in.
  19. when the Lee/Ramirez/Piniella/Hendry era comes to a merciful end and we get some quality replacements.
  20. Too bad Lou doesnt have the balls to pinch hit for Aramis here out of principle.
  21. Here comes Cordero to make short work out of "the heart of our lineup"
