  1. While Im excited as anyone about Castro, despite his recent mini slump, I really dont see him as a Ryan Braun or Jason Heyward type of player whose going to come in and make an immediate impact. Plus, Theriot and Fontenot have been 2 of our best hitters as of late. Id assume that if Castro comes up, Theriot moves to 2B and Font to the bench. If Castro syats hot, and either Theriot or Fontenot fall off, then maybe bring him up. for now, Id say send him to Iowa for now and see what happens. Right now, the guys struggling are the 3 and 4 hitters(althouhg Lee did show some signs of life today), and even if Castro is brought up now, hes probably a 7 or 8 hitter, and weve been getting decent production from those spots as it is. If I thought that Castro was the type of prospect that could come up and immediately make an impact, then by all means, but I just dont see it just yet.
  2. Just throw out the forfeit lineup and hope for the best. 1. Ryan Theriot SS 2. Kosuke RF 3. Tyler Colvin CF 4. Xavier Nady LF 5. Mike Fontenot 2B 6. Jeff Baker 3B 7. Chad Tracy 1B 8. Koyie Hill C 9. Randy Wells P
  3. Not a very exciting day on the farm Daytona: Vitters 1-4 with a HR Jackson 0-4 Burke is 2-3 with a double, so I guess thats good. Tennessee Castro 0-4 Thomas 1-4 Iowa: Micah Hoffpauir...I mean Jake Fox...I mean Brad Snyder 3-3 with a 3B and a HR. Are his defensive skills any good? Wellington Castillo 2-3. I didnt realise he was up to .270 with a 1.033 OPS. I could see him as our backup catcher next year.
  4. Its all about Lous righty/lefty [expletive]. If the game was on the line vs. a RHP, and the 2 options were Albert Pujols and Paul Bako, Lou would shose Bako without thinking twice. Explain Xavier Nady we were out of lefties and Lou chose to go with the worst option possible rather than the guy who would have to come in to catch anyway the next inning. duh.

  6. The question is, will Ricketts fire a veteran GM and manager.
  7. I speak of course of Derrek and Aramis. we have a lot of guys hitting the ball, but when your 2 supposed stars are doing this bad, without a little help from Brewers pitching, runs are going to be tough to come by. Im not as worried about Derrek. Traditionally, he heats up with the weather in late May and June. He started off brutally last year, and then really got going. Its just a bit dissapointing this year because of how hot he was to start out. It looked as though he could be revisiting 2005. He also has been making some loud outs, which is a good sign. Aramis, on the other hand is a different story. He tends to be a hot started. However, we all know about his shoulder issues. Could he be so worried about what move hes going to make in the offseason that its bothering him but he doesnt want to miss time? I really think that Tracy and Nady should be given a few starts here and there while these 2 are doing so poorly. I know neither of them have been doing any better, but maybe if given a few starts, they could pick things up. Of course, its a catch 22, because if Derrek and Aramis are benched for any leangth of time, they wont be given the chance to heat up. Maybe put Byrd, Soto, and Soriano at the 3-5 spots for now.
  8. The Astros and Reds say hello... This was much worse. The Mets also say hello. Basically, everyone weve faced other than the Brewers all say hello.
  9. Hes been available for league min for 5 days now, and not so much as a rumor about him, so the GMs must know something that we dont. I know he had a rough go of it in the AL, but you never know if a return to the NL could be what he needs, so theres no reason not to go after him at that price.
  10. Cant win em all. Hopefully the bats can take it out on whatever sad sack the Nats put on the mound tommorow. Lee really needs a day off, even if it means starting one of the black hole brothers at 1st.
  11. 0-4 tonight. Might be time to sit him in. Can Nady play first? Already has this year If only Tyler Colvin could.
  12. Well, that was out chance, but unfortuantely, Lee and Ramirez came to bat.
  13. we were lucky to lock him up this offseason He even kind of looks like Aaron Miles.
  14. Wow, that could have been a hell of a lot worse. As rudely ad the top of the Nats order greeting Gorzo, he limited the damage vs. the boppers. Hopefully we can make up for it against Cy Hernandez.
  15. I dont think it will make a difference who will gladly stay in St. Louis for $12/hour and the smiling faces of Cardinals fans with nothing else to live for, but Adrian Gonzalez and Prince Fielder are going to get very, very rich.
  16. I usually pretend to be a Northwestern journalism student and troll on message boards.
  17. If there is anything you can be sure of in this life, its that the Cardinals will manage to piss you off anytime you're mildly happy Meh, unless something happens to Pujols or Holliday, I think we'll be gunning for the Wild Card in the end with the Brewers, Braves, and Giants a our main competiton. In the NL, youve got the Cards, the Phillies, and everyone else.
  18. Thats 1 way to do it., Not quite as explosive as yesterday, but Ill take it. .500!
  19. I know Im late on this, but brilliant move by Lou pinch hitting Hill for Soto so he could bunt right into that force out at 2nd. I know Soriano should have been safe, but still pointless move.
  20. Starlin 0 for his last 15 :( Tony Thomas and Tony Campana are both red hot though.
  21. I think it's safe to say that Sam Fuld will never be the starting CF on a regular basis for the Cubs. If Colvin continues to hit he could end up starting in RF. Never say never Assume that we resign Ramirez to an extension, and then sign a big bopper like Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder to a huge deal after Lee, Lilly, Byrd, and Fukudome are gone and off the books.Couple that with the hopes that Soriano and Soto continue to hit, Colvin turns out to be a solid hitter, and Castro is as advertised. I think that that would afford ourselves the luxury of using Fuld at leadoff or hiding him at the 8 spot until Brett Jackson is ready.
  22. While I don't think that Byrd or Fukudome have to worry about Colvin taking their jobs, I wouldn't trade him without a solid return. After Byrd and Kosukes contracts are up, I doubt they are resigned. Meanwhile, I think most of our free agent dollars will go toward corner infielders, be it 2 free agents or extending Ramirez and a new 1B and overpaying for more mediocre relievers. Colvin may very well be our RF of the near future, and an outfield consisting of LF Soriano CF Sam Fuld, until Brett Jacksons ready RF Colvin The 4th OF could likely be Brad Snyder, Kyler Burke, or someone of the like. The marority of our prospects are middle infielders and pitchers, and aside from Jackson, we don't have any outfielders on the farm worth getting excited about. Basically, Colvins being given an auditon. If he keeps doing well, the audition will continue through 2011, and it that goes well, theres a good chance he ends up with the RF job.
  23. The Nationals are basically Brewers Light. They have a lot of guys who can slug the hell out of the ball, but pitching really isnt their thing. Livan Hernanadez, who weve never had much luck with has been as big of a surprise as Silva early on, and I think we face him tommorow. Tyler Clippard, who I dont know if we have to face and Matt Capps are off to nice starts, but the rest of that pitching staff can hopefully keep our offense going.
