  1. Great hack Derrek. Free....I dont know, somebody.
  2. Well he's gonna have to play a lot when Castro passes out from playing 70 consecutive games. Haha no [expletive]. What has he had since being called up 1 game off? I'm all in favor of letting the kid play thru his struggles, but with tomorrow being an off day and a righty on the mound, today could have given him a few days of rest to re group. Lou gave Fontenot like 3 starts in a row and he had 1 hit so now he never gets to start again. I don't think Castro's had a day off. I show this is his 34th consecutive start. Hoy crap. Outside of 4 offdays/rain outs, Castro has been in the lineup everyday. His numbers definately tell me he is tired. When you're numbers rival that of Ryan Theriot you need a day or three off. Starlin needs a day off. Lous probably hoping that he can get Castros numbers low enough that he can convince his pal Hendry to send him to Baltimore for next to nothing.
  3. They must go by 2009 stats, because Lee and Watkins have been nothing to speak of this year, and I dont know much about Cerda or Leverton. McNutt is the 1 real standout in Peoria this year.
  4. because people don't really care anymore it seems. they've accepted this train wreck -- Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:59 pm -- No, that's he main problem. He's never right. And what the hell are you talking about with Chicago blaming Steve Stone? I don't think the city of Chicago necessarily blames him for anything, but it seems like all the hatred toward him spewed from the whole debacle in 2004 with Dusty and some of the players. i think it's the opposite of that. im pretty sure most people were on his side for that. people started hating him after he left and started opening his mouth and acting like he was god. he tries soooooooo hard to get everyone on his side and against the cubs. basically he's just an extremely bitter and petty person. Its really too bad it all went down like that, especially when it ended by a confrontation with a piece of crap like Kent Mercker. Ston really loved the Cubs. Not to Ron Santo like extremes, but he was a true fan. What he was saying about the 2004 train wreck that got him in trouble was all true as well. I really wish he could just get over it at this point. If you ever watch him and Hawk broadcasting, he's not nearly as passionate about the Sox as he was about the Cubs.
  5. If defintiely like to give Connor Jackson or Alex Gordon a shot at 1B next year and maybe part of this year to see what they can do before Prince Fielder and Adrian Gonzalez become FAs after 2011.
  6. Holy crap, Im up again after the next 3. That was quick.
  7. I guess we could win this 1 with Lilly on the mound. He has been our stopper in te past, but weve never had an offense this bad while hes been around. Right now Byrd and Colvin are our only mildy competant hitters, but Lou probably wont play Colvin to spite Steve Stone or he'll play him but sit Byrd because Lous stupid.
  8. I think that if we lose tonight that something might happen. Not only will we be I dont even know how many games back, despite the fact that the awful division allows us to stay in 3rd, but weve pretty much been embarrassed in or own house by a crosstown rival who until this weekend has been just as bad if not worse than us. Its like I said, 2 teams who probably wont be playing in October and 1 is treating it like the World Series and the other just wants the season to be over. Either way, there not a single thing about this team that would lead me to beleive that theres any chance that they improve so just sell what you can and hope for some decent prospects in return.
  9. [expletive] it, the White Sox are just the better team. These are 2 teams who more than likely will have October off, and the White Sox see this as their world series, and the Cubs just dont show up. I guess they actually are treating this the way they treat playoff series. Im shocked how the Sox outmatched these losers pretty much every way 1 team can outmatch another. Our pitching did everything in it power to win, but when you have an impotent offense like we do, nothing short of a shut out is enough. I just hope that next year when people start caring again that enough of these guys are gone that we have a chance. Congrats on embarrasing yourselves and your fan base Cubs. enjoy your evening and unearned money. Back when we were cursing Jim Hendrys name for the Bradley/Silva trade, I never inmy wildest dreams would have though that he would be one of the very few players on this team thats worth a damn.
  10. I'm not completely against calling up a lesser prospect since the team isn't going anywhere and you can save someone from starting their MLB clock. Cashner's already on the major league team. And starting Thomas Diamond's clock is not a concern to me. While the clock might be a concern with Jay Jackson, with Thomas Diamond, I wouldnt really be worried about starting his. Diamond is 27 or 28 years old and not getting any younger. Also, Im not sure how minor league free agency works, but how long is he even under team control? If inly for a year or 2, isnt it best to at least see what he can do rather than atkins who we already know is mediocre at best? Now if they are looking for a reliever, Atkins is the way to go rather than waste another one of our starting prospects, but for a starter, Id rather Diamond.
  11. Yeah, I dont quite understand the fuss over this. If it generates revenue to put back into the team, to hopefully be spent by a smarter GM than Hendry, than who the hell cares. With all the money Hendrys wasted, they need all the money they can get to make up for it. How much money is off the books for next year? I don't know the exact number, but there's Lilly, Lee, Miles, and Nady. Aramis could opt out, even with his brutal numbers this year considering the anemic free agent class.
  12. Maybe that's just where we'll need him in the near future. Cashner and Jackson and maybe Diamond all deserve cinsideration for the 2011 rotation. Z and Dempster are locks, and Silvas likely too. We also have Gorz, leaving a rotation logjam. IMHO all are better options than Wells, and certainly Atkins.
  13. Thatsv kind of dumb. If anything move Gorz to the rotation and Wells to the pen. My guess is that Russell goes down though. He's been pretty good for the most part but bad yesterday and I believe had one more recent bad outing and knowing Lou, that's probably enough to send him down. Then again, there's also the chance that thyere working on a Gorzalanny trade. If they were looking for a starter, there's no way that even our organization picks Atkins over Gorz, Diamond, or Jackson.
  14. Im not asking for a miracle here. Im a simple man with simple expectations. All I ask is that Lou PLEASE start Soto and his .861 OPS over Hill and his .578 on a regular [expletive] basis. Its simple math really. When it comes to offensive stats, the player with the higher numbers should get more playing time. In this case, its no small difference. Its a pretty damn big one. Does Koyie Hill have to saw off another finger for Lou to make Soto an everyday catcher? If Soto were a Michael Barrett behind the plate, maybe it would be understandable, but Sotos no more a bad catcher than Hill is a great one. Other than that, if we could mayeb replace the 2B or 3B position with a 4th outfielder, we might be in OK shape.
  15. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/prospects/column/2010/2610185.html So we can blame Mother Nature if Simpson doesn't pan out. Or his wifes nagging. Sure weve all been there, but more oftne than not, it doesnt lead us to chose a potential 4th round pick in the mid first round.
  16. Wells has been flat out bad lately. Bad. Aside from 5 good innings vs. the Pirates, he was annihalated by the Cardinals, and pretty badly beaten by the Astros and White Sox, 2 very pedestrian at best teams. Lou is notorious for being impatient with pitchers, especially young pitchers, so why should wells be any different? Becasue he was 2009s pleasant surprise in the heap of garbage? Rich Hill did less in 2008 to lead to his banishment. Gorzolanny on the other hand unfairly lost his rotation spot because he was the odd man out. Should Wells at least be sent to the pen? We could use another quality righty there. Grabows already made 2 good rehab stints in Iowa, so for Lou, thats probably enough to get him back here to start pitching his trademark 2-4 run innings. That would leave us wih either 4 lefties in the pen or more likely, send down Russell simply because he was bad yesterday. The again, theres the logical move which is when Grabows activated, and while wed all prefer that not happen, it will Cashner go back to the Iowa rotation where he should have never left, Wells to the pen and Gorz to the rotation. Then we have SP Lilly SP Demp SP Silva SP Z SP Gorz RRP Howry RRP Stevens RRP Wells LRP Grabow LRP Russell Set Up Marshall Closer Marmol
  17. Yeah, I dont quite understand the fuss over this. If it generates revenue to put back into the team, to hopefully be spent by a smarter GM than Hendry, than who the hell cares. With all the money Hendrys wasted, they need all the money they can get to make up for it.
  18. And now he's playing second base. Huh? Moore was really more of a Tigers prospect that we had for a few years.
  19. Interesting. with Jackson, Diamond, Coleman, Atkins, and Mathes, Iowa seemingly has a complete rotation. I wonder what those crazy kids are up to.
  20. Through 5 IP, McNutts line: 0R, 3H 1BB 7K
  21. Now that he seems at 100%, I feel the most confident with Lilly on the mound, with Demopster 2nd. While Silva has been our best starter, I always expect him to fall off a cliff every time he takes the mound.
