  1. Why cant we ever get the other teams Ryan Theriots out?
  2. Kosuke defintiely looked like a baseball player that time.
  3. Grabow with 2 shut down innings? What is this crazy, crazy world coming to? I thought the whole point of putting Grabow in was that the Cubs had a plane to catch.
  4. Wow, the Ms couldnt score off Grabow. Of course they will when Lou sends him back out for the 12th.
  5. Yeah, pretty annoying, but its a free service, so they may as well make some money selling ad space.
  6. LOL at Brenly calling the Cubs(and Marniners) offense inept. I wonder how long before they go after him in the booth.
  7. Here comes John Grabow to bring this pillow fight to an end.
  8. That was some vintage Marmol filth. Too bad the Cubs are going to go 1-2-3 in the top of the 11th and either Grabow and Howry are going to promptly give Seattle the game. What the Cubs lack in talent they make up for in predictability.
  9. If the season ends today, we have the 8th draft pick. I think we can easily break the top 5, maybe 3 but it will take one hell of a run to take number 1 from Baltimore.
  10. Can someone please remind me why Theriot keeps getting PT over Fontenot and Baker who are better players than he in every aspect of the game.
  11. Just lose and get it over with. I really want to see Lous post game.
  12. While I dont blame Lou for getting Colvin in as much as possible, I really dont agree with benching Fukudome as Lou has. I mean if they are trying to trade him, they need to play him, and heres your chance to play all 4 outfielders, Colvin in left, Fuku in right, and Soriano at DH. But no, Lou is to set in his lefty/righty [expletive] that he doesnt see the opportunity to get Kosuke some playing time, which he desprtely needs especially if they expect to get anything in return for him other than an open roster spot. I mean [expletive], Kosuke is still batting .281 with an OPS well over .800.
  13. Its got to be Lou. Hendry has made some bad decisions over the years, but the damage is done, and unless theres a replacement in mind, a punishment firing at this time benefits nobody. If they want to get rid of him in the offseason because they have someone in mind, thats fine. As for Lou, he needs to go ASAP. The Cubs chances of doing anything this year are beyond slim to none, but with Lou at the helm, their 0. Hes completely lost. Trotting out ridiculous lineups, and the only thing he wont fix is moving Lee down. Hes playing the wrong guys, benching the wrong guys. Fontenot should be the full time 2B. Fukudome should be playing more, especially if they plan on trading him, and with the DH rule in effect, this would be the prime time to showcase, if nothing else his defensive skills no matter what hand the pitcher on the mound throws the ball from.
  14. Had Wellington Castillo panned out as some people expected him to, Soto could be a good sell high candidate right about now, but at this point, Castillo projects to be a backup catcher at best and replacing a catcher who can hit is just not easy.
  15. Soriano really hasn't even had one of his infamous cold streaks this year to this point. And weren't people saying at the beginning of the year that Soriano and Soto having rebound years was the key to this team's success? Well they've both rebounded and we're worse this year. I'm sure next year they'll be saying the same thing about Lee and Ramirez. Sorianos average has dipped from the .300s to at the low point .267 sinc e his last mushroom wore off. I know AVG is a well overrated stat, but its an indicator that he must have been on a pretty cold streak in that time frame. Hed been doing a lot of whiffing at bad pitches over the past few weeks. As for Lee and Ramirez next year, I wouldnt bet any amount of money on Lee being here next year, and if Ramirez can have a nice rebound in the second half, he'll be likely to opt out. Hes done it before. If somebody were to tell me at the beginning of the season that Soriano and Soto would have bounceback years, Milton Bradleys budget replacement would be OPSing in the high .800s, and Tyler Colvin would have come out of nowhere to OPS in the high .900s in the first half of the season, along with tons of quality starts by the rotation, I would have thought that wed be in pretty good shape. However, I wouldnt have assumed that Lee and Ramirez would be virtually worthless in that same time frame.
  16. I really dont see why its surprising that this team is bad. Granted not this bad, but even on paper, were not a great team. Lee is looking very washed up. maybe hes waiting to explode, maybe not. Soriano is what he is,super hot one week, then fairly worthless the next, although he seems like he could be on the verge of a hot streak. Soto, while he'll likely never regain 2008 form is a very producive offensive catcher, but nothing out of the ordinary. certainly too good to share time with Koyie Hill. Byrds been a very pleasant surprise, but never has been and never will be the type of player to carry a team Colvin sure looks good so far, but we'll see. Then theres the rest of em. Theriots bad. Bakers better than Theriot, but thats not saying much. Nadys your average bench player/spot starter.
  17. I guess the real question is, do we really have anything anyone would want aside from Ted Lilly? The guys who are producing are all cheap, being Byrd, Colvin, Cashner, Marshall, and Marmol, and theres really ne reason to get rid of any of them, with the possible exception of selling high on Byrd for the right prospect package. I suppose some teams could be intersted in Silva, but up until this year, hed been so bad for so long that I cant see teams taking too much of a risk on him, maybe some partial salary relief.
  18. Now THAT was an epic fake rally. back to back doubles, nobody out, and our best hitter coming to the plate.
  19. Ill be quite surprised if this doesnt end up being Randy Wells last big league start for a long time.
  20. Why to crack heads smoke crack even though they know its slowly killing them and driving them crazy?
  21. Oh look, a fake rally. How bout that. [expletive] this team.
