    Most of us did that a while ago. Personally, Im just waiting for the trade deadline and off season when things finally get interesting.

    The lead was fun, but I should have known that the Cubs simply arent good enough to score more runs than another team, at least not a major league team. Maybe now Gorzolanny can regain his rightful rotation spot from Jason Marquis Jr.

    nobody, apparently. My point is, that after a big scoring game, and then a low scoring game, some people are surprised. Not necessarily you. not even anyone on the board, but youve never heard anyone surprised by a team scoring big one game and then not being able to do [expletive] the next?

    Possibly but there is probably a pretty good collection of starters out there for trades this deadline, headlined by Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt. I'm not saying it can't happen, but there are better options out there for good teams, lowering our leverage a bit. 12.5 in 2010, 13.5 in 2011 and a 14 mil player option that he'll be sure to excersise in 2010. I dont know how good the deal really looks with Oswalt, Lee, and Haren potentially avalaible.

    I know man, and then we face this pitcher with an arm, and he may shut us down, or he may not. Then, believe it or not we face another pitcher with an arm, and he may or may not shut us down. I mean [expletive], why are we facing all these pitchers? [expletive] Hey, you were the one who made the comment about being shut out after scoring 12 runs as if its some kind of mind blowing oddity. Wtf are you talking about? All I said is anyone actually surprised they got shut out, and then you said something about it "getting you" when people act surprised, which NOBODY did. Then I apologize. calm down.

    Actually, hoping they fall out of it so they don't become buyers would seemingly indicate a change DOESN'T need to be made right now, right? I'm with you on the latter part, but God forbid something like Lou quitting/getting fired is followed by them going on something like a 12-15 streak. It does happen when a change of manager fires up a team, IE the 2009 Rockies. Still, if the Cubs are going to have any chance of any kind of hot streak, a healthy, productive Aramis Ramirez will be the key to it far more than the manager. Then again, we spent most of 2009 saying that as well. All the same, Pinealla does need to go. He pretty much sums it up every time he says hes tried everything and is out of answers. Maybe the answer is resigning.

    OK, you've got to slow down. This is just too complicated and revolutionary. You dont have to be sarcastic about it. Oh wait you do, but it gets me when people are surprised when the same team who scores 10+ runs 1 game can ge shut out or only score 1 or 2 the next. Its baseball. Happens all the time. Cubs were able to beat up on a struggling Joe Saunders, but then they face Jason Vargas, whose been great all season and get shut down. Sometimes bad hitting will beat bad pitching, but more often than not, good pitching will embarass bad hitting.

    Of course not. They've shown almost no consistency this year when it comes to scoring enough runs to win a game. Its called being a bad team. every team is going to have the occasional offensive explosion here and there, but in between, the good teams find ways to win more games than not, the bad teams dont. Whoa, run that mind blowing concept past me one more time. Its true. You cant be surprised when the Cubs suck most of the time, but have a big offensive game once in a while. Even the Royals can put up double digits here and there, but that doesnt make them a good team, and its not at all surprising when they get shut down the next game. Same goes for the Cubs. You cant expect them to get shut down every single game. Just most.

    When was the last time that the Cubs were shut out in a 3 game series, because with Cliff Lee and Felix Hernandez coming up, it wouldnt shock me if it happened here. The we go to the South Side to face Peavy who will shut us down, Freddy Garcia, who we may or may not be able to score 2 or 3 runs off and then John Danks who weve never been able to hit. It should be a fun week of Cubs baseball, hopefully ending in Lous resignation.

    Pretty much been the theme of the season. OK, the past 2 seasons.

    Of course not. They've shown almost no consistency this year when it comes to scoring enough runs to win a game. Its called being a bad team. every team is going to have the occasional offensive explosion here and there, but in between, the good teams find ways to win more games than not, the bad teams dont.

    Losing is 1 thing, but when the games become a chore to watch, its time to call it a season. Start selling please.

    Jackson gave up all 4 runs in the 1st, and since has shut the other team down through the past 4 innings. Meanwhile, the I Cubs scored 5 in the 3rd, putting Jay in line for the W.

    Any question that Bradley hits multiple home runs tonight and drives in 10-15 RBI in the series?

    Jay Jackson already gave up 4 ER on 5 hits and 4 BB with 5 Ks through 3 IP. He has just not been that great since they pulled him from the rotation ton the pen and then back to the rotation. Thats a lot of adjustments for a 22 year old to make in a few months time.

    Not a good month for ex-Cubs prospects. Patterson joins Jake Fox, Renyal Pinto, and Brian Dopirek as former Cubs prospects that have been DFAd.

Either that or wait until next year when he starts the year hitting near .400 and try to move him then. Seriously though, if Hendry were to do this, hes essentially paying 20 million(or whatever we end up eating) for Tyler Colvin, and as much as I like Colvin, it aint worth it. Depending on how they feel about Colvins CF skills it makes you wonder if the wiser move would be selling high on Marlon Byrd rather than take a massive bath on Fukudome. Granted that at about 3 mil/year, it was a rare great free agent signing by Hendry, but hes playing well over his head IMHO, and other teams might be very interested in him with his great numbers so far and cheap salary. If we could get a nice prospect package in return, it could be worth it. Then wed have Sori, Colvin, and Fukudome from left to right, and Nady could fill in for either Fukudome or Colvin(with Fuku in center) vs. the tougher lefties.

    Can't be worse than the Cubs lineup 1B - .688 OPS 2B - .633 OPS SS - .650 OPS 3B - .517 OPS C - .558 OPS ----------------- LF - .889 OPS CF - .909 OPS RF - .969 OPS I know you said AL lineup but I wanted to take the opportunity to point out how awful the Cubs IF is hitting vs. the Cubs outfield. If Lou would play his .871 OPSing catcer over the .553 OPSing one more often, and the .772 OPSing 2B over the .632 one, we might have a better offense, but if ifs and buts were candy and nuts wed all have a merry christmas. But hey, when we get Aramis back to full form, it will be as good as making a big trade, right? right?
