  1. With all the guys being brought up lately, I'm surprised there havnt been any corresponding moves. This would be a great opportunity to move around some guys like Flaherty, Sspencer, Ridling, Bour, Lake, and Crawford. Obviously not all, but some.
  2. I ask because I really don't know: Why is Campana nothing special with the bat? He's hit well above .300 in his last two minor league seasons. I've never seen him play before he came up. Is there something that suggests he's a medicore hitter? The guy has no pop whatsoever. Even Sam Fuld hit for a bit of power in the minors.
  3. He looked to grab his left quad as he was running through first base, but I didn't hear the tv announcers mention anything about it. Yea hurt quad. Len and Bob said they will give more details when they have them, but with how things are going, I expect him DL'ed after the game Left quad strain. Off for an MRI. I'm thinking at this point, the only question is will it be Brett Jackson or Tyler Colvin making their way to Wrigley. Was this the same injury he had in 08?
  4. Don't be so sure. Decent middle relief is hard to come by, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if someone plucked him. If your a team in need of a reliever, may as well take him, and if he sucks, let him go.
  5. I think they should just leave these 2 pitchers in the entire game so we can end up with what will look like a high NFL score or a low NBA score.
  6. WTF is up with these guys? I havnt been paying any attention to these guys since we last played them, and all of the sudden, theyve won 14 of their last 16 and are in 1st in the NL West. It wasnt too long ago when we were talking about pilledging these guys for Drew or Johnson.
  7. This would be as good a place as any to mention that Corey Patterson single handedly terrorized the White Sox in their weekend series including a walk off bomb in the 14th Saturday and a 2 run shot yesterday. He raised his line to a healthy .287/.320/.450
  8. This will be very much like watching a minor league game without many prospects to get worked up over.
  9. I mentioned this in the locked thread of the same topic. Flaherty is older, hits for more power, and more importantly, has played pretty much every position but C, P, and maybe 1B. And if all they want is an extra body, just bring up Scales.
  10. Yesterday, Hamburger,today Veal. I'm hungry.
  11. As anyone around here will happily tell you, I was once naive enough to get excited about these guys getting their call up and doing relatively well. I learned that more often than not, guys who put up the kind of minor league numbers Campana did don't become anything special. Considering everyone is on the DL, I have no problem with Campana getting a shot, but I'm not going to get too excited about a guy whose ceiling is Rajai Davis.
  12. I'd think Flaherty would be by far the better choice. Older, hits for more power, and has played literally all over the field so he'd be more likely to get enough PT to make it worthwhile. Could it be that Gibbs and Szczur were misinformed and DJ was actually called up to Iowa, because that would make more sense.
  13. Strained right elbow. Cubs don't feel it's serious enough to bring him to Chicago to see the docs here. Thanks. Will he be DLd or miss a start?
  14. Yeah, yeah, gritty white guy, gives it his all, spark in the lineup.
  15. To make room for Snyder, Cashners been moved to the 60 day :(
  16. Too bad they couldn't just say [expletive] it and call up Brett Jackson.
  17. Apparenly, they're projecting severe thunderstorms and hail in the greater chicagoland area fom noon-4, so this game may well be mercifully called.
  18. Because of all the talk about how he only wanted to come back here after Santo's funeral and blah-blah-blah. Like it or not he's not getting traded and he's not signing anywhere else. Can we at least agree that if we were to entertain the idea of trading him, a lot of teams would be very interested?
  19. West Side Rooter could care less which of these strokes are playing or not playing as long as Castros doing OK for himself.
  20. May as well start getting used to these guys. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of them come July.
  21. Has there been any update on Whitenack?
  22. There are a lot of D Cubs that are really impressive. lake, Bour, Cerda, and Crawford(The Crawdad according to the D Cubs twitter, a nickname that I really hope doesn't stick) could all be ready for Tenn as soon as they clear out Iowa and start promoting some of the Smokies.
  23. Sure we do. We have plenty of guys having solid seasons. They just suck as a team. Aramis would generate interest. His track record speaks along. The power may not be there, but hes still hitting. Fukudome is still a good lefty bat and a great glove. Someone would take Pena as well, be it as a starter of a bench bat. Reed Johnson is having a good enough season that he could bring in a fringer or 2. Dont forget Kerry Wood. A lot of teams need help at the back of the pen. Holy God, how many times are you going to inexplicably bring up the idea of trading Wood? He obviously was signed here on the cheap to finish his career as a Cub. There's practically zero chance the front office moves him no matter how good an idea it is. Hes struggled at times, but he really hasnt been pitching like a guy whose at the end of his career, and unless he wants to give us another massive home town discount, chances are he'll be pitching elsewhere next year anyway.

  25. KC is in 3rd place, 8.5 games out and .460. Theyre not in much different of a position than we are. I dont see them making any moves. Their future may be bright, but their present is what it is. And the first part of your post really makes no sense.
