  1. That brings up another question I have. I guess from someone who hasn't participated on the forum in a while it's a little daunting/difficult to get involved in a 300+ pagethread about movies/music/games etc. What exactly is the rationale behind having 1 master thread for topics? To me it makes it hard to go back and join in on the conversation. I guess i'm just more used to another format. Huh? The social forum has a seperate thread for each of these. That's what he is saying. On most message boards instead of having an one thread titled "Politics thread" or whatever, there will be individual threads that pop up like "dummy Palin now in the race" or "Weinergate". gotcha. that would kind if make the head spin.
  2. I think Hendry missed Hendry saying that. he was too busy eating twinkies. because hes fat. and fat people like twinkies.

  4. Take a look at the Twins DL: Joe Mauer Jim Thome Jason Kubel Tsuyshi Nishioka Francisco Liriano' Kevin Slowey Joe Nathan Glen Perkins Thats 4 starting position players, their #1 starter, and their closer. No wonder they're so awful. also: Michael Cuddyers banged up Justin Morneaus .242/.299/.361/.659 line suggests that he may well not be fully recovered from his consussion. Carl Pavanos seemingly turning back into Carl Pavano
  5. I hope so. The Cubs have to prepare for a post-John Grabow world. I dont know if Im ready for such a world.
  6. What exactly constitutes a moron in board terms? Is it anyone who gets a bit over zealous in the midst of a game thread? Is it one who doesn't let their arguement go despite being bombarded from multiple directions, whether they're right or wrong? Or is it somebody whose opinion simply differs. Maybe someone who proposes unrealisitc trades, or perhaps gets intrigued by older minor league players who happen to be having a good season. Ill admit that I aint gots me tha baseball smarts of some of the folk on this here computer forum, but thaat doesn't mean that I can't share my opinion an contribute to the discussion despite the fact that I have no idea how to calculate WAR or VORP. I'm not saying that there are posters out there who refuse to let a faulty arguement die, but I learned early on in life that if somebody truely bothers you, just ignore them rather than egg them on, and while an internet forum makes egging somebody on that much easier, it also makes ignoring them even easier. Its a discussion forum, this I understand, but some posters get upset over posters who refuse to simply give up on a faulty arguement, when in reality, the best way to get them to drop said arguement is to stop responding to it.
  7. What exactly are dumb posts? A lot of it is opinions. Example: there are a lot of fans that like having a guy like Ryan Theriot on their team. While I am not one of them, I can see how they like the gritty, energetic type. Does saying that you like that type of player make one a moron? No. Maybe if they said that that's the type of player they'd like to build a team around, I guess that would make them a moron, at least in regards to baseball. Really, what it comes down to isn't people getting into these debates, which sometimes can get a bit personal, it's when neither party is willing to just let go, and it just keeps going and going.
  8. I like it....get all the issues out. The whole saga of NSBB in general fascinates me. I get the impression that a lot of people even prefer having this closed community of 25-50 long time posters discussing everything and anything. I'd prefer 26-51 if you know what I mean. What is The Cubs record after 77 games Alex. What did I win?
  9. Its a group of colorful, opinionated characters.
  10. If it werent for Has stint in AA, wed probably have 6.
  11. I also noticed that Vitters isnt in the Smokes lineup after being pulled early in last nights game. Me wonders if they're just waiting to hear if Aramis will need to miss time, but more likely, its an injury of some sort.
  12. Nick Struck came in to PH for him. Doesnt sound good.
  13. Thome has never played LF son. Fine, Thome at SS. Didn't Thome catch one game once in his life? Someone ought to log onto the internet and find out. Not as a professional. According to BBR, he played his first 40 minor league games at SS, which I had no idea. Im assuming he was in much better shape at the time, but I cant even imagine him oafing around the middle infield without laughing out laud.
  14. Good to see a solid outing from Jay Jackson Does anyone out there know if Jonathon Motas ceiling is anything other than Andres Blanco? Is he any good defensively?
  15. All I know is theres way too much talent this year for Wilken to draft another Colvin or Simpson to save money for the later rounds.
  16. Thome has never played LF son. We could have him play third, I guess. Hey, Soriano learned, didnt he? Kind of?
  17. Good luck Jake. Love to help him out, but we already have career minor leaguers coming out the wazoo.
  18. You mean they're still playing? I thought they'd learned their lesson after the last home stand. Bold prediction: the Cubs are below .400 at the end of the month.
  19. It was speculated, but I don't recall it ever being a lock.
  20. that and the fact that today's injury was relatively minor...awesome day!!!And the fact that its officially June, and Kosuke homered. A day full of positives.
  21. Wow, that list puts Castro in some truely elite company. Maybe they should let him play out the rest of the season in Tennessee or Daytona so he can get some more experience playing games that matter.
  22. Bravo Cubs. Bravo. Try not to embarass youselves too much the rest of the way, not that anyone will be paying attention anyway.
  23. these injuries are to be expected with an aging injury prone lineup like the Cubs have. i dont think that baseballs to the face really care if the person being hit is 20 or 40 What did I miss with Aramis?
