  1. I'm guessing Ross is getting demoted to just catching Lester and coaching Contreras. Is Davis Ross the one with the 1.2 WAR or the -0.2?
  2. He has been exquisitely annoying Maybe that's why the kidnappers gave him back.
  3. Is Wilson Ramos the one who was kidnapped and held for ransom when he returned to Venezuela for the offseason a few years back?
  4. If only we had an open roster spot, or one occupied by some dude who's had 2 at bats in the month of June.
  5. Can we use him like we've used Arrieta?
  6. Which is why I understand the Yankees making outlandish demands, not that I'd want to be the ones to meet them. And I doubt that we will. But when you're the Yankees, at least in their mind, they can lose 100 games this year and effortlessly buy a 100 win team for next. They've got a ton of cash coming off the payroll over the next 2 years- Texeira, Sabbathia, and Beltran after 2016 and A Rod after 2017, all of which I have to imagine they'll go right out and spend it all on the shiniest objects available. So if they do trade an asset such as Betances or Miller, it's going to be for nothing short of a big league ready impact player or a package including multiple top 25 prospects.
  7. Looks like your usual K's a lot of guys/walks a lot of guys, but if we can get him to stop walking guys whilst continuing to strike guys out, he could be useful type. But really, I think it's more about Theo and Billy being emamoured of one another's rubbish.
  8. I'm guessing we got less than that. Move the decimal point one spot over, and it sounds about right.
  9. Apparently he's Harmon Killebrew's grandson. So that's kind of cool in a Trevor Gretzky kind of way.
  10. Damn, didn't realize he got that. I know that 2011 was the year of the great overslot splurge, but I thought that Maples was the only one they really went overboard on.
  11. "If we give Milton Bradley enough hugs and money, he won't be a sociopath anymore."
  12. Other than him wearing the Cubs' uni again? Dunno. Is it any less likely than his returning to 2010 form last year after being useless for 3-4 years prior?
  13. Yeah, what the [expletive] is he babbling about. Is there some Fowler/Coghlan rivalry only he knows about? Or does he inexplicably think a utility player will be pissed the Cubs brought back their starting CF? and at the LAST freaking moment when his price was way cheaper than ever. And he's a CF (and a damn fine one this year, too). Coghlan is not remotely close to the same player/situation. Instead, this will be their reunion: http://rs426.pbsrc.com/albums/pp345/untherapy/gifs/TC12-3.gif~c200 It was a facetious reference to Fowler's surprise entrance catalyzing Cogs' surprise exit.
  14. So is Theo just getting bored and antsy as he awaits the 3rd round?
  15. They've turned into the 2005-2006 era Cubs "Juan Pierre, now that's a name. Trade whatever you can to bring him here!" "Glendon had a good season or two even though he was horrible last year. I think we can rehabilitate him" "Burnitz is a great replacement for Sosa, they both hit home runs" "Phil Nevin? He's still playing? Seriously? .......[expletive] it just get him" Phil Nevin will forever be perched high atop list of 'that's right, we did have him for a minute' Former Cubs.
  16. Don't love it, don't hate it. My only question is how awkward will his reunion with Dexter be?
  17. Big Game James' 1st inning in a White Sox uniform is in the books. 32 pitches and 4 ER later.
  18. Yeah, no need to add [expletive] to our group, especially ones that look to be regressing. A young hard throwing but erratic sky's the limit talent with the temper to match? What could possibly go wrong? We can call him Big V.
  19. I'm just going to float the name Fernando Abad out there. Never paid much attention to him, but he comes up on the fringe of MLBTR's trade candidates list. Certainly not the sexiest of options, but looks like a perfect fit in the lefty reliever search. Always been serviceable, but putting up some great numbers this year- 0.87 ERA, 1.016 WHiP, 5/22 BB/K over 20.2 IP, but not enough to fool anybody into giving up anything of real value. Has another year of arbitration eligibility as well. I figure one from the Rademacher/Young/Beeler/Black isle plus something raw, low level, and mid ceiling could do the trick.
  20. And signed a very large contract between the two. Just saying.
  21. It seems that when relievers who are used in high leverage situations come into what seems to be a laugher, they struggle. It's almost as though they come in overconfident, or with the expectation that the opposition just wants it to be over.
  22. Only thing scary about 2016 Ryan Howard is that he's being paid more than 2016 Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Jake Arrieta, and Dexter Fowler combined.
