  1. Hasn't been a lack of desire to upgrade so much as lack of desire to do something stupid in the effort to do so.
  2. At the end of the day, we'll still be 9.5 games ahead of them and that much better. Turn it off and shrug it off.
  3. Middle relief is middle relief. If it was better, it would be late inning relief. It's just that we need to figure out a new middle relief go to guy now that Grimm isn't good anymore.
  4. Is 2016 Justin Grimm one of those better than the results situations or did he turn into Bob Howry?
  5. No Hendricks is boring and yeah, the top 30 talk gets annoying, but this team can't afford to give up young, healthy, cheap starting pitching with some major turnover coming for 2018. He and Lester are the only ones under contract after 2017. ---- I found Concepcion boring despite the results. If need be, we have the resources to acquire more starting pitching if need be. But I do agree that there's no reason to be actively shopping Hendricks. But if we're taking a part of a package for someone like Teharen or Fernandez (who I am very much aware that they are very different commodities,) then we could afford trade him.
  6. Nobody's It's been noted several times, they would go to a 6 man rotation before and probably after the ASB. What happens a month from now is another question And there's also the fact that we don't have a ton of SP depth in the event of an injury. As of now, if we needed to dip into AAA for an option, we'd be kind of screwed.
  7. It all depends on who's still her come August 1st. As long as Soler, Baez, Almora, and Szczur are around, there's not going to be room for another RH OF. As a trade chip, despite his impressive on base skills, his lack of power could be limiting. I could see him as a part of a trade package or called up in the event of one of the afore mentioned guys being traded or injured.
  8. Between trades and graduations, putting together a prospect list this time of year is going to be like putting worms in a can, so I'd just wait until August 1.
  9. I wouldn't say I don't care, but we do have the depth to pick it up. The fact that even with 2 of our opening day starting OF and our 4th OF on the DL, putting together a surrender lineup would take more effort than a strong one speaks volumes.
  10. Yeah. Crow, Peralta, Matusz, and Nathan. Surely one of them helps at some point. The only one that truly baffled me is Peralta. With Nathan, there's the glimmer of hope that he can give us a month or two of his former greatness late in the season. With Crow and Matusz, there's the hope that they're not too broken and Bosio can work some magic. But Peralta's just an old relief pitcher.
  11. Jeimer with a 2B and 3 BB. Not much else of note from the I Cubs 5-4 win over some other AAA team.
  12. THIS was your post in the middle of Contreras exploding into our lives? It was composed moments before. Had been listening to the game on the radio and his night had just come to an end.
  13. Randy Wells hurt his shoulder and was never the same. Kinda different. Yeah, but wasn't he collapsing before that happened? But my point was more about the fact that Hendricks doesn't have overpowering stuff, and with guys like that, a lot of people think there's only Greg Maddux or junk baller with no in between.
  14. [expletive] the NBA How on earth is something that began before Haloween just now wrapping up anyway?
  15. So are there still people who expect Kyle Hendricks to turn into Randy Wells? Because he sure isn't showing any signs of it.
  16. Seeing as the Red Sox are going to chow down on the bulk of his contract, perhaps something along the lines of Christian Villanueva, (whom once he's off the DL we're going to have to offer a roster spot we don't have or he can walk) plus a few million $s make it a bit easier for them to swallow while giving us a possible option to add to the 2017 OF mix, which other than Heyward has no sure things? Despite his noodle bat, his dWAR has kept him above water in the WAR department, so at least he could be a decent 4-5 OF. I know that being right handed, he'd be mostly redundant, but the FO has always had the policy of judging the player by potential value regardless of position.
  17. This Eloy Jimenez fellow appears to be pretty good at baseball.
  18. If you are asking would any of those teams pick up his contract, I think there is 0 percent chance of that happening. Not the entire contract (though I wouldn't put much past the LA teams or the White Sox at this point.) But a portion of it along with a moderate prospect return.
  19. Red Sox Place Rusney Castillo On Outright Waivers https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/red-sox-place-rusney-castillo-on-outright-waivers.html I know this would be the exact opposite of a low risk, but is there still a high reward to be had? Are his issues something that can be fixed or is he a lost cause? I could see any Chicago, New York, or LA team rolling the dice here.
  20. Did James Shields grow up hating the White Sox? Because I've heard of guys having a rought adjustment period to a new team, but he's been beyond brutal.
  21. Very happy to see that score; following on Gameday, and the top of the inning was one of those when I had to put the device down and walk away after ball 12.
  22. The Yankees should sign him. Between he and Chapman, they'd be the most feared team in baseball...just not for baseball.
  23. Willson Contreras has been with the organization longer than anyone on the 40 man roster. If anyone cares. Which they probably don't.
