  1. All I know is things can get ugly for both teams if it doesn't happen. Ricketts has to face the media and fans not to mention find a plan B. Red Sox have to figure out what do do now that they've denied Epstein the Cubs contract and all but given their GM job to Cherington.
  2. Wouldn't a post-Theo world be one in which Theo has already come and gone?
  3. :? Maybe in a baseball world populated primarily by Koyie Hill clones. Defensively Gotcha. Problem is, he cant hit his way out of a wet paper bag, and I think that they're intentionally keeping Morgan or T whataver he wants to be called out of the lineup vs. Carpenter to avoid all hell breaking loose.
  4. From everything I've heard, within 48 hours.

  6. Kaplan How about Cherington for Bush? Seems fair. 10/13/2011: Randy Bush agrees to send Brett Jackson, Trey McNutt, and Matt Szczur to the Red Sox as compensation 10/14/2011: Ben Cherington officially named New Red Sox GM 10/15/2100: Ben Cherington names Randy Bush his assistant GM.
  7. clearly the "safari" was a trip spent with Bill James and Mr Beane to discuss how Mr Ricketts could change the world. It worked. Don't get too giddy guys. The guy hasn't done jack [expletive] yet. Let's not grab our collective [expletive] just yet. http://ts3.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=1187464546142&id=e9d0e4677f93a31b8c5f5b89ac518b25&url=http%3A%2F%2Fth46.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff142%2Fbigbadvoo%2Fth_debbie-downer-lottery.jpg

  9. Yeah. He's cheap and productive, but not in our post 2012 plans. No harm in keeping him, but if any team wants to offer up anything resembling a top prospect for him, take it in a heartbeat. If we keep him, and we're not contending by July, get what we can.
  10. So how long before the ceremonial removing of the ? from the thread title?
  11. I know he hasn't exactly lived up to his expectations, but this year he was looking like he was going to have a breakout before he got hurt. This being said, I want him if the price is reasonable. Definitely over any non CJ Wilson FA starter.
  12. 1-for-1, Theo. THEO IS GOD Wait. If he has a short list of managerial candidates, does that mean he plans to fire Quade? 2+2=this.

  15. [expletive] that, break out the knife wielding black kid at the birthday party.
  16. Just out of curiosity, why is Cashner on the lower priority list than Barney and Russell?
  17. President of Business Operations, Orphan Punching, and Scamming Old People Out of Their Retirement Money. Actually, we might not have to worry about it. After so many of their to guys have been blown up, I hear Al Qaeda is looking for a new chief.
  18. Or he could simply be happy with not being fired. Just saying.
  19. Come on, we have Colvin, LaHair, DeWitt, Campana, Hill. Now if he meant good left handers, he should have been more specific.
  20. Holy [expletive], Epstein isn't even officially here, and he already has the power to exile people. I had no idea how much power he had. Surely he can sign an elite 1st baseman. Unless of course Scott Boras wants to spend the rest of his days in Siberia.
  21. Like give him another chance to not embarass the team and himself? He probably has his big league future riding on what happens this season on and off the field. If ever there were a year to have him, this would be it.
  22. Well he gets to hire his own manager right away and he pretty much has no choice but to acquire some players. To be honest, I'd be OK with a patient approach if it werent for the fact that there are 2 guys out there, either of whom would be exactly what we need as the cornerstone for a successful 2-3 year rebuild.
  23. Or we could just reopen the old thread for general discussions and such.
  24. Heres an idea for fair compensation if they insist on a player: Marlon Byrd. He's not that expensive, not part of our post 2012 plans, and while there would be some interest in him for trade, nothing great. For the Red Sox, he'd be a cheap option for RF, and could platoon with Josh Reddick without doing what they usually do and sign another 10mil/year free agent. While he has no business at the heart of any lineup, when your the Red Sox, he's a great option for 7-8.
