    yeah, i think he'll be one of those guys you stick in center and forget about that position for 10 years. his isod is ridiculous. wsr said chris young with a better average? chris young with a .300 average is a pretty damn great player, i'll take that and he'll be an all-star every year. Chris Young is a .230-.240 hitter. I'd expect something like a .270 from Jackson, but again, that's still damn good if he can take his walks and hit for power which he's done at every level. Chris Young as a .270 hitter would still be a pretty damn great player. I just said that. I'll tell you one thing, I would not be at all happy if he were sent to Boston for Epstein. Unless of course they care to send us their center fielder.

    I agree. L_P_F said that people weren't as high on him as they should be, but the general consensus is pretty much where it should be. Nobodies ever going to confuse him with Bryce Harper or Mike Trout, but he's sill a very good building block to have in an organization without a lot to get excited about at the upper levels. CF, SS, and C are probably the toughest positions to fill offense wise, and we should be set on all 3 of them for the next several years. Now we just ned to fill the other positions with competent hitters.

    The consensus is pretty much that he'll be a quality everyday player at a premium position but not a superstar. Sounds about right. Seems to be like he could end up Chris Young, hopefully with a better average.

    I'd be very surprised if it was within the division. Still. He's a risk I'd be willing to take. Twins are likely losing Kubel, Cuddyer, and Thome's gone. Could be time for them to re-stock. Besides, every time the Twins trade or lose a top player, they just seem to get better.

    After last nights suck fest, this would be a great day for some good news,or at least closure.

    Luckily, two things the Cubs have. Note: I know the farm system isn't ranked high by most (everyone?). It's still got a ton of guys who IMO are likely to at least reach the majors (LeMahieu, Flaherty, Jackson, Dolis, Cabrera, Carpenter, J. Jackson, Smith, Castillo, Clevenger, etc). It seems like the Cubs farm system is built to produce role players, maybe a few everyday guys but no stars. Not a bad plan if you are able to go out and sign or trade for your big stars. If not, well, may as well get used to this.

    To be honest, if we don't make a big move next year, we'll suck anyway, may as well be LaHair. I mentioned at one point to see what Morneau would cost, but it didnt go over well. Still, I'm intrigued. The concussion made 2011 a lost yeR for him, but I think he's a FA after last year, and The Twins have Parmalee behind him. If Fielder or Pujols aren't to be, I'd be interested in trying to trade for Morneau and Liriano. Gardy seems to love his scrappers, so maybe guys like Barney and Campana would appeal to them. Obviously, it would take a lot more in terms of prospects as well before I'm accused of suggesting Barney, Campana, and Russell for Morneau and Liriano

    When your only NL option is the Brewers, rooting for the Cardinals is clearly the better choice. Were in the minority in this thinking. The Cardinals already have enough bragging rights over us that another World Series would just be gravy. The Brewers gives yet another team those bragging rights. Besides, when I get [expletive] from a Brewers fan about the Cubs failures at least with them you can ask when they won their last World Series. We're running out of teams we can use that argument with.

    I think it can potentially have a payroll impact, but Fielder's contract will be expensive and long, and the Brewers are really up against it with existing payroll. Even if they could, after next year they'd never be able to re-up Greinke or Marcum or sign anybody else, and they'd be right back where they were when they could easily score 7 runs a game and give up 9. Now if they don't trust Gamel, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up with Pena. Brewers main weakness has been defense.

    I'm hoping for a Detroit (same reason, Verlander's the man) vs. Milwaukee WS. It'd probably be ignored in the ratings, but it'd be one hell of a series. Verlander possibly as many as 3 times vs. the Fielder/Braun duo would be sick to watch. Detroit also has great depth. Great offense, including one of the best hitters in baseball. Solid rotation including the best starter in baseball and a solid bullpen. Any word on if Delmon Young will miss any time because of injury? Rotoworld says no.

    Since our best chance in 2003, we've seen 3 major championship droughts ended, our 2 top rivals win the World Series, and 4 of the 6 teams who had never been to a World Series get in.

    Yup, because that's why the Phillies offense sucked for the past 4 games. Why is it Ok to believe in nonsensical curses and jinxes but not Santa Claus? I don't see why your surprised anyway. You've been guarantying the Cardinals a spot in The WS the entire game.

    Hopefully Manual is proud of himself for treating that last game vs. The Braves like a playoff game to allow The Cardinals to get here.
