  1. I wouldn't put it that way, but I love how the rich kid fanboy owner who the talking heads were sure was going to run the organization into the ground actually knows what he's doing and is cleaning house even sooner than expected.
  2. Julie covers the Cubs Never even heard of her. Is she the idiot from Red Eye who was posting on one of the bloggers' (Cubs Den, I think) twitter accounts that you should trade Castro for Epstein if you have to? Fringe blogger/writer for Red Eye yes. I don't even follow her due to her extreme leftist political views that she feels compelled to push in her tweets constantly. I have no idea if she has any legit contacts at all. I just read it retweeted by someone else thought it was interesting. Is she hot at least?
  3. So he's saying that Hoyer has seemingly been nogotiating with Bell to resign with The Padres when all along, he's secretly been trying to steal him for the Cubs? Yeah, I don't think it works like that.
  4. Right. Maybe Hoyer would handle the little moves here and there and do the extra "GM" things that are asked of that position. But the bottom line(and all that really matters), is that Theo will be heavily involved in any meaningful moves made. Didn't someone joke about a college of GMs when Hendry was first canned?
  5. Die in a fire. Don't worry, in this hierarchy, the GMs job is to pick up coffee and make sure that the urinals mints are fresh. Sadly, he'll grossly overpay for the coffee and set the organization back another 5 years.
  6. Emperor: Tom Ricketts King: Theo Epstein Viceroy: Jed Hoyer Arch Duke: Josh Byrnes Grand Duke: Ben Cherington President: Rick Hahn Vice President: Tim Wilken GM: Jim Hendry
  7. Well I didn't vote for him.
  8. They probably will still want compensation, but it sure sounds like things might go smoother with the Padres. Padres owner: we want Castro Ricketts: shut up, you'll take Marquez Smith and like it. Padres owner: OK. Ricketts: what's that Padres owner: OK Sir. Ricketts: that's better.
  9. Correct. Or a 30% chance of being so.
  10. For what it's worth, I was following MLBTR chat and Tim Dierkes, who's a Cubs fan said that McNutt or Carpenter+a low level prospects would be fair compensation for Theo. I don't know what's worse, that he said that or that he views McNutt and Carpenter as having equal value.
  11. Correction: president of baseball operations. Call them what you will, but for all practical purposes, Theo will be GM and Hoyer will be Assistant GM.
  12. he can't still be alive, can he?
  13. The hunt is over. Now it's negotiations. We have no idea what's really going on in those. For all we know, they've long since moved on from McNutt, maybe even decided on the compensation. I don't see why people assume that the minute the negotiations are complete Ricketts is going to rush to Twitter or the nearest sportwriter. With the World Series beginning today, I wouldn't be surprised if Selig is making them hold off on any announcements. If we've learned anything over the past several months, Ricketts is a [expletive] ninja and no one other than him and one or two others within the Cubs organization knows anything. And chances are the other one or two will be sedated until Ricketts is ready for the announcement to be made.

  15. Talks hit a snag when Luccino turned his sites from Trey McNutt and demanded mid '90s-early '00s Sammy Sosa and healthy 22 year old Mark Prior.
  16. You lose points when your name sounds like breakfast cereal.
  17. Without you know who, there would be no swag.
  18. Ridling can play a decent OF. Bour and Jones are the ones that are a bit limited. Rohan can dabble at 3rd, play some corner OF, and obviously, handle first. Rohan is also very old for his level and has a high OPS but the power isn't where it needs to be in order to succeed with his skill set. Maybe he'll be like LaHair and deveolop it later on.
  19. From everything I've read, Satchel Paige was supposed to be a real smooth brotha back in the day when that was a dangerous thing to be.
  20. Not delmon. Da meat tree. Is he still in a Blo-No jail? haha Does a 300lb diabetic really count as swag?
  21. http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2010/08/21/gal_hair13.jpg We got to get my main man Oscar in there somehow.
