    [expletive] that, we saw him first. The White Sox already have Ramirez and Viciedo which could very well attract him to them. But hey, you can't spell Cuba without Cub, right? Signing him and/or Solar sure would give me a lot more faith in the rebuild process.

    Otherwise why sign the dime a dozen unwanted players now and not during or after spring training? Even if both guys cost a combined 2-3 mil, there are far better ways to spend that money especially if the plan really is a complete rebuild. However, if these guys are being signed for that price because they are band aids to fill soon to be needed roles, all of the sudden it makes some degree of sense and not just last minute necessities or spare parts.

    Because that's clearly what I implied and not that if Byrd or Soriano are traded and Jackson starts then it makes sense to add an extra righty for the outfield and if some of our right handed relievers are traded or even put in the rotation then Corpas makes sense. i tried reading that sentence twice and my headache just got worse and worse. comma, semicolon, just any kind of punctuation... we're begging you. At least the grammar and punctuation comments more match your MO than intentionally trying to twist my words into something you know they weren't meant to say.

    Dempster/Zambrano/Wood/Wells/Samardzija It's funny seeing Wood in there and not have it mean Kerry. No problem with Shark getting another shot at the rotation. I also still hope there's a chance of Cashner getting the chance as well. If Garza is traded, Z, Dempster, Cashner, Wood, and Shark could make an interesting rotation. Now if oth of them were in the plans to start than adding the cheap righty makes some sense. Maybe we could see is we can get anything for Wells but then again we might want him as an option for upcoming post Dempster/Zambrano era.

    My guess is that the Red Sox will jump on one of Kuroda or Oswalt in the coming days. Maybe the Yankees get involved there with one of them. Of course, that could damage the Garza market. Haven't heard squat about Edwin Jackson this off-season, which is mildly surprising. Didn't love him, but he's an intriguing asset in his prime years. Jackson fills a different need than Oswalt and Kuroda. Jackson should get a 3 year deal or even a 4 at a lesser dollar amount and someone who wants a mid rotation starter will probably give it to him. Kuroda and Oswalt while are better pitchers are more appealing to teams looking for more of a front end starter, probably a 3 in a good rotation or a 2 in a decent rotation but on a 2 year or even 1 year deal. Depending on how much money the Yankees have available it might be in their best interest to sign Jackson and 1 of the other 2.

    Junior Lake, Giosker Amaya, Oscar Hernandez, Logan Watkins, Javier Baez(although he's supposedly ticketed for 3rd) I think we have enough middle infielders especially since I'm hoping that SS will be held down by Castro for many, many years. Most of those guys are going to be in the low levels (and I'm assuming you mean Marco). The upper levels aren't going to be a pretty picture, and Baez/Lake/Amaya may all be best served moving to the hot corner. Watkins may be more of a utility guy, if he makes it up, but there's a chance at 2nd. Got to see if his 2nd half offensive surge showed any real improvements. My main point is that there seem to be areas in which our system is heavy, center field being one of them. I'm not even saying thats a bad thing just that we don't need to add another one as one of the key pieces to a Garza trade. We could definitely use some corner outfield bats though. Young Reggie Golden is that closest thing we currently have to one and much like our entire organization, he's got quite a ways to go.

    How about one? And is this one even an improvement? Assuming we dont trade Marmol, even with Marshall gone we have Shark, Cashner, Dolis, Carpenter, Mateo, Russell, Beliveau, Gaub, Maine and Jackson so we have more than enough to put together a more than solid bullpen without dumpster diving. The only way that Corpas and Johnson make any sense whatsoever is if there are trades brewing that we don't know about.

    What are your thoughts on Matt Dominguez? I think if the Marlins came out offering Morrison and Dominguez, I'd certainly at least have to consider it. In a Garza deal? I think Matt Dominguez is fine as a stopgap starter (by this, I mean for a few years), but not a long term guy for me, and I don't really love the idea of Dominguez as the number 2 piece in a Garza deal. Still, if they offered Morrison, that would make things enticing. If they offered say, Morrison, Volstad, with either Realmuto or Yelich as another piece, I'd be enticed. Not sure Volstad is great as a 2nd piece, though, but the prospect of getting Morrison would be exciting. Volatad narrowly missed being non tendered. I'd take him as a 4th piece, but if dealing with the Marlins I'd want to start with LoMo and Dominguez would be a nice 3rd piece but I'd want something in between. I won't even suggest Stanton but I'm sure they have some interesting high upside guys in A or AA. Depending. On what else they're in the market for I'd be happy to expand the deal.

    I really don't have any interest in Gose. I'd prefer keep Jackson and if Szczur, Ha, or Silva make strides then we consider moving Jackson. It seems like our farm system is already full of center fielders, as well as middle infielders and starters who can hopefully be mid rotation guys.

    So I'm willing to accept a rebuild, but the fact that we're just piling junk on top of more junk rather than going after young players or at least former top prospects is just a plain waste. I dont care how cheap the guy is, there no reason for him to get a spot over Carpenter, Dolis, or Beliveau. If spring training draws to a close and we're in need of an extra arm for the pen, I'm sure there will be no shortage of available Manny Corpases as free agents or teams trying to trade them for virtually nothing.

    Rumor has it that they aren't willing to part with Myers or Montgomery. Considering Hosmer, Moustakas, Duffy, and Crow are all pretty important MLB pieces for them too, I'm not sure if they'd be cooperative enough. Well they're going to need to get some real pitching sooner than later because how many years to they har before their young core become expensive free agents and they have to start all over again. Tis the life of a small market team.

    Yankees are my top choice but KC would be a great partner too. Very nice young offense they have but pitching leaves much to be desired. Their 1 starter is a former top pick that many teams would have given up on by now and their #2 is Bruce Chen. We need to get them in the line and see if they'll start the talks with Wil Myers.

    Yep. Theo is a bad, bad man Nailed it. More Travis Wood, less Reed Johnson plz. Definitely a better MO than just stacking carcasses on the 40 man roster and hoping that they somehow form a big league baseball team.

    The Yankees are the team that I really want in the mix, and I can't believe that they're willing to start the season with the rotation they have now.

    If it is a full rehaul, [expletive] it ridiculous trade proposals might be the only thing to get me through the offseason. Garza, Dempster, Byrd, Soto, and anything else they want off the current roster other than Castro and Cashner for Montero, Betances, Banuelos, Joba, Nunez, and whatever else they want to give us. Next.

    Wow the Nats are going to be really awesome very soon! They're still the 3rd or 4th best team in their division. Maybe, the Phillies are getting old offensively and are one mound injury away from not being the best team in the NL. The Braves should remain solid, Marlins will improve. But 2012-2013 will include a core of Strasburg, Desmond, Morse, Zimmerman(s), Gio Gonzalez, Storen, Harper, Ramos.... A lot of sick talent on that roster. If they do jump in on Fielder i think they could win that division. True, but while the Phillies are getting old, they'll probably do what aging big market teams do and go after some top young players and extend some of their younger guys like Hamels and Pence. As for the Nats, if they did get Fielder, which I don't really see and Morse is for real and Werth gives them what they paid for, add in Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper, and they could really have a winner on their hands.

    The question is, judging by what we have now in the big leagues and the farm, how long will it take to build a consistant winner? I know a lot of us grew up watching God awful temas, but that was before we got a taste of what it was like to root for a team that could actually win, and do it in more than 1 season at a time. Unless they push hard to acquire some top prospects and international guys like Cespedes and Solar, things are going to get ugly.

    I'm just posting this because whatever Gios moved for might set the stage for Garzas value, and it seems overall underwhelming. Norris is a top 100, but the other 3 while young and high ceiling wouldn't seal the deal for me to trade Garza. Then again, if they do move him in the next few days, with Danks extended Garza is now the last front end starter on the trade market, or the market in general, or at least the top one depedning if anyone see's Gavin Floyd or Edwin Jackson as front end. Still, if the best packages look what's being speculated for Gio, I doubt that they trade him. Not that that's a bad thing.

    We won't be ready to win in time to get enough value out of that contract. The outlook clearly looks bleak now, but do really think that Epstein and Hoyer came here to keep the team looking like it does not for the next 3 years? It was a joke, based on all the nonsensical ramblings of people who don't want to acquire players who cost money. Gotcha. With all of the insanity going on it's hard to keep track of who still think we can have another .500 season in our lieftimes and who doesn't.
