  1. But it's also the poster child for challenges. On one hand, it's annoying as hell. But on the other hand, in a close game with a lot of close plays, this is why replay is important.
  2. With 2 on and 0 out, I'd go with Chapman and give Rondon the 9th.
  3. Hell of a pitchers duel we've got going, but sooner or later, somebody has to make a mistake. And this late in the game, I like our odds.
  4. I didn't even know that the deadline was Aug. 1. But yeah, it could be wild. As of now, there are roughly 18 teams that should considered contenders to some degree- The 6 1st place teams, 4 wild card leaders, and 8 more that are within 5 games of their division and/or a Wild Card. With this being said, and the lofty prices paid for Chapman and Cashner, it really is a sellers market.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] I suppose it's not that far fetched. Melancon has nowhere near the stuff of Chapman, but he doesn't have the baggage either. I suppose it all depends on who's in the market for a closer and how bad they want one.
  6. This time every year, I expect random players to start exchanging mid-game hugs and handshakes just to blow up Twitter.
  7. It's the Rizzo has to rest some time, so it may as well be vs. a replacement level lefty with Jake on the mound for us lineup.
  8. Where's Garza when you need him? On his annual non-DL stint.
  9. In less sexy news, enigma wrapped in a riddle who's often confused with a small-breed show dog, Bijan Rademacher is helping his case as a trade throw in, or at least a Rule 5 pick.
  10. Could an Eloy promotion be far behind? At this point, he's just being a jerk to these poor low A pitchers.
  11. Everyone bunt to the 1st baseman, then bring on Chapman to burn through the 5th! http://challengepost-s3-challengepost.netdna-ssl.com/photos/production/solution_photos/000/127/405/datas/xlarge.png
  12. It's gonna rain before the 5th. There will just be a long delay. horsefeathers that, they're from Seattle. They're used to rain.
  13. If you waited this long, you may as well have ridden it out.
  14. I didn't get the game on TV until the 9th. Couldn't help but notice that Hawk sounded the closest to an objective analyst that I'd ever heard him while Chapman was embarrassing his beloved Sox. I was particularly amused when Russell made that sliding stop, and Hawk was talking about Russell stating that his one shortcoming was a weak throwing arm, to which Stone response was essentially 'what the hell are you talking about,' and Hawk quickly changed the conversation.
  15. Aroldis' entrance music should be the old Vince McMahon entrance theme.
  16. That's up there with 'procrastinating on answering any more questions about Sale', which is a preposterous thing to say but what else could it be? Venture knows that his days as a big league manager are numbered, so he wants to do as many managery things while he can.
  17. At least until the next time the opponent has more runs than we do.
  18. Boo Chapman the man! Yay Chapman the pitcher!
  19. This is the single worst post in NSBB history. Congratulations! It wasn't serious. At all. And I've posted far worse than that.
  20. If I were Ventura, I'd have walked LaStella in hopes that Maddon might pull Chapman for pinch hitter and roll the dice with Edwards,'Montgomery, or Grimm. But he didn't. Ballgame.
  21. Looks like Dillon Maples has found his niche as a low-A closer.
  22. Or his girlfriend is crazy and was reacting to possibly finding out he was texting another girl (seems childish I know). No one knows anything other than the people at the scene. It's day 3 of Chapman trade being done, move on with your lives and don't cheer him on when he's saving this team. And yea they do need saving, they really have played awful since June you don't get to decide what people discuss here. you know what this topic is about. contribute positively or ignore it and gtfo. Maybe we can split it into 2 seperate threads: "Cubs acquire Chapman from Yankees for Torres, McKinney, 2 others" and "Aroldis Chapman is a disgusting, disgraceful pig of man and so is anyone who cheers for him without taking a scalding hot shower immediately after and still doesn't hate themselves in the morning."
